Really cool hostel”
This hostel is in a great location for Wellington and the facilities are amazing. The rooms are really cool as they tried to leave as much of the old hotel feel as possible. You can easily walk around the city to get to restaurants and hiking trails from the hostel. The staff is very friendly and they have a cafe and bar for those who want everything in one location.

Great Position”
It was a great backpackers/Hotel. Very close to everything in walking distance. Room was great as had single room small but all that was needed. Train station across the road with plenty to go see. Lovely walk along the harbour side was very relaxing for being right in the city.

When in Wellington, Hotel Waterloo is my go-to accommodation due to its location to the bus terminal and many other things.

Value for money”
This hostel is right in the city of Wellington. Opposite the hostel is the train station and bus terminal. On the right is the wharf which is also the ferry terminal. So it's very convenient to go anywhere from here. I stayed in the 6 bedded dorm and I must say I was surprised that the shared bathroom was in the room itself and you don't have to leave the room to go to the bathroom like other hostel. The toilet is clean every day so that's good. I must say the room is a bit small for a 6 bedded. No place to put luggages when the dorm if full. They give you two sheets so pls use the other sheet to cover your duvet blanket. 1st night I wanted to sleep I smell the duvet, it kinda smell so I use the other sheet to cover it. Thank God I did cos one of the girls on the upper bunk checked out next day and I saw that the housekeeper changed everything except the duvet cover. Kitchen was well equipped so no problem preparing your food and the dining hall was big enough to accommodate everyone.

More than my expectations ”
The blonde hair receptionist amazed me that he could speak mandarin without accent, I was stayed 2 nights, the location is perfect, I enjoyed my time in Wellington.

Wonderful except a minor problem”
Everything's perfect, location, price, service, only the kitchen utensils seems not enough, sometimes I can't find a good/suitable pot/pan for my meal, and a few stoves in the kitchen are not working. Give the kitchen a tiny upgrade would make the stay 100% perfect. The dining area is one of the best among all the backpackers I've stayed. Love the fire! And our six-bed female room has a bathroom. Love this, too. I will definitely recommend this backpackers.

Wellington Stay”
The Waterloo was clean, modern bathroom , well set out with wifi. Visitors must realise that the Waterloo is on a one way street, there is a 5 minute loading zone outside the hotel. The nearest parking building is a 10 minute walk. No soap in the shower.

After another hostel in Wellington, similar to the Gestapo dungeons, it was scary to book, but it turned out to be a great place, now I will always stay here. :D

I arrived (very) late from Picton, 2am the next day. Hotel was operating 24 hours and reception was kind and patient with everything.

Very near bluebridge ferry terminal and walking distance to most place in town. Toilet is ensuite to the room and it was very clean. Only thing is that my window was unable to close and hence it was cold at night even with the heater on and curtains drawn. You will have to find your own parking. The reception gave the wrong information regarding parking though. Overall good value for the money!
