To be honest this place was a bit of a dive, we had booked budget accommodation but not realised it would be this bad. I would expect a higher standard at a backpackers. Whilst everything was superficially clean, the bathroom smelt and was created with a few bits of plywood separating it from the dining room, other rooms may have been better. But the biggest concern was the cats which freely roamed on the dining tables and kitchen surfaces. However it was conveniently placed to walk into Mahebourg, only a short journey from the airport and the owners were pleasant enough. I suspect that this is the standard of budget accommodation in the area and we should have paid more.

Fantastic stay with a wonderful family”
We stayed one night at le bamboo guest house and we truly enjoyed it. The room was clean, wifi and air conditioning were available. The owners made the difference! We got introduced to the local lifestyle and enjoyed a beautiful dinner in their living room! When you stay there, make sure you'll join them for dinner which is an absolutely delicious and local meal! They helped us with all our questions about Mauritius and how to get around. The husband also organizes tours by himself to show you the best of the island. Thank you very much and until next time! Miguel and Christian

Cozy and homey”
I stayed at Le Bamboo after having landed after the buses stopped running. It was so convenient, the guesthouse's location in Mahebourg. It was a quick taxi ride over, and I was greeted by the lovely couple who own the place. Le Bamboo truly felt like grandparents' home; it was cozy, comfortable, and sweet. The room I stayed in felt more like a hotel--very nice! The bathroom was great and the views over the river was nice. I had a bit of trouble connecting to the wifi from my room, but in the living room it is super fast and reliable. I would highly recommend staying here! The owners are so kind and friendly, and they are so knowledgeable about the island--they can give you directions anywhere.

no facilities at all. Owner told me, can't use A/C in daytime. I stayed there , because cheapest place around, before I changed my ticket date. Mahebourg in general and maybe Mauritius is overpriced for tourist, no value for money, just good tourist marketing.

Le Bamboo is a pleasant, clean and hospitable establishment. However, I would not recommend it to older people who can't manage stairs. Also, there did not appear to be warm water in the showers and no soap was provided. the airport transfer costs are not included in the price, which was a surprise, but Vishnu took me to a nearby ATM. Vishnu and his wife were very warm, helpful and accommodating. I enjoyed my short stay as an overnight in-transit air traveler.

This Guest House is run by a very polite and helpful gentleman called Vishnu. It is very conveniently located near to the airport and is not far from the main tourist areas of Mahebourg such as Blue Bay. I did Email regarding the airport transfer but to my disappointment no one turned up to collect me.

Great stay with wonderful managers”
Our stay at Bamboo was wonderful thanks to Vishnu and Mala, who manage the guesthouse. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome and at home. The location of the guesthouse is pretty good and fairly close to the bus station. Vishnu knows a lot about the area and was very helpful. The breakfast was plentiful and included omelettes, eggs or pancakes, depending on the day. Overall, great place to stay in Mahébourg.

Two weeks+ at Le Bamboo Guest House”
Pros: - Very helpful & friendly hosts. Can guide you as to where and how to go around mauritius. - The guesthouse is located in Mahebourg- great to experience a village feel and to see the daily local life of the Mauritian people. - It is a 7 minutes walk to the bus station (which takes you basically to anywhere around the island), supermarkets, and local restaurants - Close to Mahebourg's museum, monday's bazar market (which turned out to be not too impressive- very cheap quality & high prices- tourists beware), shops, and to the Blue Bay beach (which is a beautiful beach, just a 15 minutes bus ride away!) - Nice view to the Lion Mountain & river from the shared terrace. - Averagely calm. You can hear the birds, the wind, and the dogs barking nearby (Mauritius has many free/stray dogs). - Air Conditioning was working very well. Cons: - The terrace that you see with the mountain's view in the pictures is shared- this was not mentioned on Agoda as I made this booking!! - Not very clean, and there were ants in my room (on my bed, in the bathroom, on the floor,...). The room was cleaned once per week. - The bathroom is inside the bedroom, and too tiny. There is no hot water to shower. Just lukewarm, and you have to give it like 5-10 minutes to reach that warm, but not hot, temperature. - I was offered a room on the first floor (which is the most modern), but refused to take it as I did not feel comfortable to having to pass by the owner's apartment every time I needed to go to it. They gladly offered me another room on the second floor. - The rooms on the second floor are not modern and small. There is an artificial wall between some of them, so you will hear if someone else is talking in the room next to you. - The mattress was not very comfortable to sleep on. - Does not give you at all a vacation feel as the rooms are not spacious and modern (again). I wasn't looking for this at the beginning, as I am a budget traveler. But, when you go to mauritius & visit the am

Very friendly host and family who look after you as if you are family. Clean, beautiful view of the river, close to shops, transport etc. Close to airport, so good to stay at if you want to be close to the airport.

Staffs are very friendly & helpful. Breakfast is nice prepared. The view from balcony is nice as well! Cat lovers would definitely love here as there are 2 cats.

Very nice guesthous with lovable hosts”
We very much enjoyed our stay at this guesthous as we felt completely home. Mala and Vishnu made our first days in Mauritius a great experience and we felt very welcome at their place. Rooms were simple, but nicely decorated and we even had a balcony. Mala is a great cook and we extremey enjoyed her home cooked dinner. The breakfast on the terrace was georgeous. We would definitely return to this guesthous in the future.
