Perfect location”
I booked this hotel during the 2 days heatwave and with young children exited for the beach it was the perfect location right in front of the hotel was the beach hearing the waves at nighttime was amazing. Modern and clean rooms aswell very luxurious for the that kind of money.

We stayed in a twin room and it looked exactly as advertised, the room was clean with a modern bathroom and walk in shower. Our room was at the back of the hotel so it was quiet and we didn’t hear any traffic noise. Quick check in and check out and the reception staff were friendly and efficient. I would happily stay here again.

Lovely staff, efficient and friendly check in & bar. We booked 3 rooms, 3 couple's on a birthday celebration. Meal booked at China Garden under 5 mins walk from hotel. Our room smelt damp/musty on arrival, but by the time we arrived back after night out it seemed ok. Bed extremely comfy, rooms quiet, we were at the end of a corridor & no noise. Didn't get breakfast as we took advantage of a lie in but found a cafe under 5 mins walk serving late morning/midday, perfect hangover cure. Would book this hotel again!

Good rooms, service slow and not very amenable ”
Great location for town and seafront (sea view room is very nice although would have liked a window in the bathroom). Service on check in and out was slow but not through receptionist fault, but only 1 person for everything so always queuing. Bar staff were not particularly helpful when ordering food and was made to sit the dining room by myself rather being able to sit in the busy bar (strange). Overall a good stay and nothing that would stop me staying again.

Get the right room”
Not a bad hotel but lacking something and it's £18 per night for parking. Our stay was generally satisfactory but we had a bit of an issue at check in. We had booked a 'priviledge' room with a seaview and queen bed, we even had all the paperwork to prove it but initially we were offerred a 'mews room' (these are the second rate rooms that overlook each other at the rear of the hotel). We complained at reception, the manager had to be consulted, there was alot of huffing and puffing and eventually we got what we had booked however we were made to feel that we had asked for something extra for nothing. A correct outcome but why make such a fuss when the hotel did not seem busy and all the paperwork was in order? One silly unecessary incident cast a shadow over the rest of our stay.

Disappointing stay at the Mercure”
I'm a regular visitor to Brighton and have stayed in a few different hotels. I chose to stay at the Mercure because my usual hotel was too expensive and the location was close to the convention I was attending. I also got a good price for the weekend. Upon arrival, the receptionist Marta was polite and friendly (she upgraded my room as well which was very generous of her). However, things went downhill from there. I ordered room service for the night because the weather was too bad to go out for dinner. They didn't answer the phone so I had to look up the number on Google. My food arrived but no drink. No apology for the mistake so had to call them again to get my drink. The manager brought my drink but didn't apologise. I ordered breakfast too and it was late. I called them for an update and they explained why. They arrived a few minutes later, again no apology. I decided to go out for dinner on Saturday night because the staff were so rude to me and when I came back to have a drink at the bar, the staff serving were indifferent and again, rude. Checkout was also disorganised because I was told I could do express checkout (e.g. drop my hotel key card in a box) but it wasn't signposted and had to wait a long time to speak to reception who was dealing with an awkward customer. I gave up because I had a taxi on the way so I told the receptionist I'm checking out, here's my key card and paper to show which room I stayed in and walked out. I've stayed in multiple Mercure hotels across the UK and this is the worst one I've ever stayed in. I understand that mistakes happen. What's important is that we apologise for making the mistake and we own up to it. The staff at Mercure Brighton failed to do that. It's unlikely I'll stay here again.

Single beds beds and cushions could be more comfortable. Bed was right against the front door and the lift was right near the door so a bit of noise.

Understaffed and bad experience”
Waiting time to check in was a while as the there was only 2 staff members at reception (extremely slow and didn’t seem to know what they were doing). Room was ok but we went more due to the location which is opposite the beach. Breakfast the next day was a joke - no tables available, no food leftover and they asked us to sit at the reception to eat if we wanted. There was no other choice as we had to check out. Ps. Bear in mind that parking costs £25 per night at the hotel car park.

Not worth the money”
We booked a standard room, coming in £215. The room itself was an okay size, on the smaller side though for how much it costed. But there was mould on the wall. Bedding was clean and didn't feel crispy, good pillows. The shower head was stuck on the wall, barely hot. The heated mirror was a nice touch. The bar area was nice and the drinks were good. It was a good location from town and the seafront being just over the road. However, we will not return.

Never again ”
Never again, the information in agoda is misleading. It’s advertised as 25 meter square for the room size but I was given a room with 6 meter square, that’s ridiculous!!! Totally ruined my holiday mood and it’s wasting my time to negotiate with the hotel staff and agoda customer service. Do not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Could of done with another double bed for my children cause my daughter and son had to sleep in there pushchair for the night as there was only 1 double bed and 1 single bed, but all in all the bed was comfortable and I love the dimming lights.

Rooms were small but otherwise good location very clean good staff personally would not pay for breakfast in the hotel we paid but didn’t like the breakfast had to go out and eat the second day.

Very tired hotel”
It's all a bit tired. There was no air conditioning and one window didn't stay open. The shower was fixed on one temperature and one jet setting. Staff were doing what they could but it needs significant money spent on it. Guests would be better off elsewhere.
