A Place that is truly out of the city, Fresh Air”
Just make sure you are ready for insects before you stay at here. Lights off after 10pm. we are unlucky that during our stay at the camp was raining whole night. we were expecting to see the star..

Back to Nature”
It's a great place to stay. Cool breeze wind, nice view to see the mount KK. Very quiet and relaxing for group camping and activity. At night, you can take the time and pleasure to view the stars. The quietness can lead you to hear the sound of nature. It was a pleasant stay for us. The host is very kind and polite. We got to see all kind of adventure he have went through from photo book he share. Will return in the future again.

IS A MUST TO TRY IF YOU LOVE TO EXPLORE”
WAS AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE, BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT YOU NEED TO HAVE SOME BRAVERY TO EXPERIENCE IT, YOU MAY COMPLAINT A LOT BEFORE REACHING THIS CAMP BUT YOU WILL FEEL LUCKY TO FOUND THIS PLACE AND EXPERIENCE THE STAR NIGHT AND THE SUNRISE MORNING. IS A MUST RECOMMENDATION FOR ME TO THOSE WHO LOVE NATURE AND LOVE TO EXPLORE.

Good Experience to the Nature”
The facilities is simple, but sufficient. Be aware, there is no heater at there. The environment is super nice with the fresh air and nice view. The sunrise is is very beautiful. The host will arrange for some jungle tracking and bring you to nice place for photo and enjoy the nature.

Interesting Experience”
Have a great stay at there. Owner was a friendly, hospitality and helpful person. Guide us all activities during our stay. Bring us from Ranau Town to his camp. And share many useful skill to survive if we are lost in jungle. Also help us shooting many nice night photo with star and teach us using star detecter apps to view the star. His dog was photogenic and also can play together. Thanks again for his hospitality. Hopefully can visit camp again.

Back to Nature, Back to Life”
Pros : Close to nature, breathtaking view of mount kinabalu and surrounding area, beautiful view of largest man-made lake in Sabah possibly in Borneo, lots of outdoor activities, friendly host. Cons : Drive to the site is not for the faint of heart, but that is the price to pay to be close to nature. Definitely recommended !

Back to nature, back to life. ”
As the title suggests, this is a trip which was back to our nature. We travelled in a group of four to holiday camp. Four of us were welcomed by Mr Oliver which was our camp owner when we just stepped on the ground of Ranau. He even came down to Ranau Town and guide us to drive to his camp. Along the journey, Oliver shared us a lots of interesting stories. We was amazed by the beauty of the Mount kinabalu which was seen at the camp site. And we were told by Oliver that we were very lucky to see a Mount kinabalu which was not covered by clouds as usually it was covered by cloud after 10am onwards. We spent time in the camp site taking photos with the huts we stayed and also the five little colourful huts which were also one of the trademark of this camp. We are very lucky enough to get the milky way at night although at first we tought it would be impossible as the rain had started around 5pm that day. Second day is our sun rise chasing and photo taking session with the amazing view of sunrise at the viewpoint of the camp where we can see three tallest Mount in Sabah. We had ended our trip with exercise session which was a jungle trekking in the virgin forest at the camp site and started to learn the survival skills in jungle which was unable to learn from any textbook. Thanks to Mr Oliver and his cute little dog yang yang for guiding us throughout the whole jouney. Gonna make a second trip again in near future. 😍

It’s not about the stay but it’s about the experience that Oliver, the owner has to offer. He planned us a trip to the Mamut Lake, sunrise and jungle trekking. We had a lovely time there enjoying the beauty of Mother Nature. In terms of the accommodation, it’s all back to basics. Be prepared for that (=

A Pleasant Stay”
One of the most amazing trip i have never had. It's really back to nature. Not to everyone liking. If you are into simplicity, this is it. Amazing view of Mt KK and other exciting place where the host will take you. The power is powered by solar. Water is either from rain or mountain water. It's quite cold so advisable to bring a thin jacket with you. We really enjoy it and may come back again!

Beautiful sight with excellent guide”
The campsite is beautiful because it's located high up and tucked away from the city, also because of that you won't be able to exit the campsite during your stay. The sunrise, sunset, jungle trekking, waterfall, night sky were indeed very memorable. We've also learnt a lot from the host and his dogs during the tours. Note: Facilities at the camp are very basic, be prepared as if you're camping in the wilderness, ie. bring enough food to last your entire stay, and own camp entertainment such as books, board games, etc. If you plan to cook, you might want to bring your own equipment (there are some there but not perfect), condiments and charcoal for bbq,

Peace & quite environment”
If u are looking for peace & quite environment. This is the place you should go. Located at the foothill of Mount Kinabalu the view is amazing. The facilities is basic but really enough. What do you expect for staying in remote area ? Experience to stay in hut really amazing. The owner sharing during jungle trekking was great, accompany by Husky dog & Valentine the goat. If u want to see a Goat join you for jungle trekking you should booked & stay here.

I purposely waited a fortnight to do this review so it wont sound exaggerated...but i guess it still will... LOL The journey to the camp is quite adventurous, after the left turn from Ranau-Telupid highway to Jln Mamut, there was around 4km tar road with internet access. once we cross the first "bar" (with Forest Reserve sign), we still have another 4+KM uphill on gravel road till. There's no internet access after this point. we just follow the main gravel road which took almost 20minutes to reach a 2nd locked bar where the owner, Oliver, waited for us from the other side of the bar. We were lucky (all the way up, it was raining) weather is good when we reach the camp. We were being informed there were 9canine there. upon arrival, we notice 3little shy fluffy puppies. Not long after, the puppies's mom came to our hut to greet us. she looks like a husky. We later learnt that her name is "Monkey". The same afternoon, Oliver took us to a short hike to have the best view of the lake with the rest of the dog pack- all looks like husky; one excited and loving pack. The lake gives a peaceful appearance and one can hear a waterfall behind the hills. Which we understand later that it was the same waterfall accessible from HotSpring but it took 1day hike from where we are. Back to the camp, we clean ourselves, basic amenities available but need to bring drinking water and food. We just have some canned food and spaghetti for my 4YO. Lights off at 10PM and that night was a clear night with abundant stars accessible for viewing. We dont fancy that much as we had to made our 4yo sleep early... At 5am, lights on and the 1st thing we observe when we open our door is the beam of tiny flashing lights up Mount Kinabalu summit trail. Weather was fine, i think its around 18-20degree at night. 530am, we were ready for the morning walk to view the sunrise. bringing a 4yo, we walk rather slower though its just easy steps...This is definitely the 1st out-of-city trip for my 4yo, water pu

Nice experience”
The owner Oliver is very friendly and told us a lot about the history of that place. It's perfect for nature adventure, because we do everything without electricity. Jungle trekking, BBQ, sunrise and sunset, Milky Way and nice view of Mount kinabalu. Definitely worth the price and time.

We did not stay at this place as we were not prepared for the night. You need to call the owner a day before so he can brief you on this camp. He will advise what are the preparations needed. Please note you will need to drive up unpaved road to the location.

Be prepared for a breathtaking experience in the wild. Don't expect luxury living, but rather a moment to be away and live simple - enjoy breathtaking sceneries and of course many stories from our entertaining host.

EXCELLENT MOUNTAIN CAMP!!”
The location is absolutely stunning!! Ever magnificient Mount Everest as well as the accompanying misty forest around you. When you book this camp, you not only get a camping experience, but it comes together with a very detailed program designed and personalised just for you by Mr.Oliver. The best thing about this it's entirely free. No extra charge. You will get lots of nature knowledge from him. He will bring you to the most beautiful sunrise location. He has lots of dogs *#wolfhybrids, but all are tame and chained in presence of campers. His camp/huts are tiny yet comfortable enough. All cooking utensils provided. Make sure bring the food to cook as you won't be able to find anything else to buy here. There is nothing here except for nature. I'd suggest hotpot materials, some drinking water, aluminium papers for BBQ, potato, eggs, chicken etc.. The jungle discovery is awesome and refreshing! Forget all your city and tech stuff and enjoy pure soul searching :)
