Wish we stayed longer! ”
I booked a Tree Hut so we had a nice place to stay after we did a 2 day hike on the Copland track. When we arrived at Rainforest Retreat we were told we got a free upgrade to a Deluxe Tree Lodge. It was modern, comfortable, luxurious, and we felt very spoilt with a breakfast basket delivered (which we devoured!) and complimentary drinks in the fridge. Bed was super comfy, bathroom was beautifully tiled and rain shower was great. We did find the shower curtain was a bit annoying as it kept blowing inwards when we showered so ended up keeping one side open (such a minor thing). The grounds and setting are amazing. We arrived around 430pm and were leaving the next morning so we missed out on the spa pool but enjoyed a delicious meal and drinks at the restaurant. Will definitely visit again and will stay longer next time!

Excellent rainforest location”
We had a room on the end of a block, so it was quiet, as we'd requested.. Spacious room, with modern yet comfortable facilities. Kitchen with all cooking equipment. Bathroom easy to use. Stayed 1 night. Didn't use the restaurant. Perfect accommodation for us to spread out our luggage on our 2 week fast tour of NZ (from UK). Excellent customer care: I thought there was a fault with the electric hob and the staff immediately offered me a mobile cooking unit, which I didn't need in the end. Thank you!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the tree lodge at Rainforest retreat! Exceptionally clean, great amenities and the breakfast basket was such a neat bonus! The location was ideal for us to explore surrounds and we loved how peaceful it was, nestled in the gorgeous rainforest setting. Would highly recommend to others stopping by Franz Josef when in the South Islands!

Rainforest Retreat”
A must stay when in Franz Josef. We were upgraded to a deluxe bungalow. Best accommodation on our 17 days in the south island. Stayed 2 nites. Underfloor heating. Top of the range appliances. Breakfast was fantastic. Cannot fault this room. The Park was tidy and fab sitting on our deck in the forest. Restaurant was excellent too. Just need insect repellant.

Would have liked to have stayed longer, the rainforest retreat is well located in the township of franz josef, the staff are really friendly and helpful. The room was set in beautiful surroundings, and nice and warm on a cold day. The coffee and hot chocolate in the room was excellent quality, and the breakfast abundant! Highly recommended

Stayed in deluxe retreat - stunning! Everything beautiful, plonked right in the beautiful NZ bush! Deck outside, gorgeous room, delicious breakfast - restaurant lovely and great food. Excellent location. Highly recommended - pretty unique place to stay - away from everything, peaceful and a lot of bird song

The Rainforest Retreat deluxe treehouse lodge was amazing. We were 3 in a room but the layout gave us a bit more space so we weren't on top of each other. We would definitely stay there again. The bathroom was lovely, the bed super comfy and the breakfast basket delicious. Highly recommended.

I love this place. My Gecko room was surrounded by rainforest trees. During my stay one day was very heavy rain. That day will remain remarkable memories of my life. Rain sound, clouds, trees all contributed to rejuvenate.

Wow we were very surprised with the retreat, not what we expected at all! It was so lovely, the room was excellent, had absolutely everything, and it the breakfast basket was amazing, it also had everything. Highly recommend this property.

Fantastic accommodation close to franz Josef glacier. Well appointed two bedroom apartment with spa pool. Fully serviced, breakfast included. Great restaurant bar on site. Would definitely recommend and return!

For $72 we got our own cabin!!! Sauna and spa are the best I’ve seen for this price too. Clean, everything you need.

Stayed in deluxe tree hut, beautiful hut with amazing amenties, fast wifi, great picnic basket breakfast. Staff very helpful. Would definitely stay again!

Tree Cottage was great”
It was raining during out stay and we got true rainforest experience. The Tree Cottage (#2, Ponga) was very cozy and there was everything we needed in there.

The only fault would be for me no choice of pillows as the one supplied was too high and I couldn't sleep on it but I would definitely go back again with my own pillow

A unique and wonderful experience !”
The lush greenery outside the room , especially when you wake up to it, and the clear crisp air that greet us whenever we open the sliding door sealed the deal for us. Felt like we were living in a luxurious version of a tree house. The well appointed room with all the necessary amenities did not disappoint either. We will be back someday! the staff was generally helpful as well. Really nice stay for us.

Good choice in franz josef”
I've booked a park motel room but was glad to be upgraded a greko cottage. Thank Rainforest Retret. The cottage is quiet and self contained.,I love the spa tub just next to it, though the smell of chlorine is a bit strong. The location is perfect and is so close to anywhere you want to visit. The public kitchen is spacious and well equipped.
