Amazing place”
Pros: This is one of the best hotels i have ever stayed in. The staff is friendly and happy to help all the time. The food is great and it is served as a buffet so o had plenty of options to choose from. There is a gym, spa, beach, pool, entertainment area, games, everything you would want. There is a stunning beach in front of the hotel and sun beds. They offer also a good variety of water activities for free. The rooms are big and cleaned twice a day. Cons: the internet wasn’t great. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t. Overall, i would strongly recommend the property. I had a great stay!

We hired a car and we lived like locals. What an amazing time. Beach was clean and water was warm. The time spent there was too short.

We enjoyed the hotel facilities and the staff were exceptional. There was plenty on offer to keep guests entertained and the views were breathtaking. Would highly recommend. It was possible to swim the fish and would advise to have water shoes due to the coral.

Amazing Stay”
My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights and everything was perfect. Amazing staff, great food and drinks. The atmosphere is soothing. The cab is cheap from the hotel compared to other hotel which add a lot to the normal fare. Pooja, Diksha, Brittany and Geraldine were all were helpful at the front desk. THANK YOU GIRLS! I will surely come back.

The good, the bad and the ugly”
Solana is a stunning hotel, well run, clean, great food and staff very helpful. Our room was spacious, super clean and well-appointed. We were thankful that the check-in manager accommodated us so early, and that our wish to have a ground-floor unit was met. Rani, our cleaning lady, was a delight. Food was great all round, although of course very expensive. Flexibility as to where one would like to sit when you order either from the bars or Pomelo restaurant, would have been appreciated. We wanted room service menu food to eat on the verandah at the bar, which was declined. No reason why, and I am sure all food comes from the same kitchen. We enjoyed the rum bar, but consistency in size of cocktail glasses should also apply. Very angry to find fishing traps right in the area where I snorkeled in front of the hotel. I realise fishing is a pastime all over the world, but sad to see all the trapped tropical fish in the cage in the waters right in front of our room.

only good for a short stay like 3 days”
We booked a 9 night stay here. staff were friendly and polite however not even water is. complimentary on the half board and full board package. every day were were asked for feedback on their service which became annoying especially because no changes were made until the 2nd to last day of our stay. but were not good enough. food at buffet was salty and not good quality but these is variety and plenty. the restaurants have better quality food. special turn down was arranged for my birthday but not completed by hotel and no supplementary apology given. if i were to say again it would be for no more than 3days

Really grew to love this place. It was spoilt by the forced loud entertainment by the pool but if you sit as far away from it as possible, it’s fine!

Good hotel ”
There are no complaints about the hotel. Friendly staff, very attentive managers, delicious, warm and Mauritius is beautiful. The only negative is the sea, there is no sea in this hotel, the sea is completely rocky and in small corals, it is impossible to swim. There is only a very small lagoon at the end of the hotel, but sometimes there are many locals with children.

Great Food Staff but not best Beach”
I liked the fact that all rooms had a sea view and I would recommend the All Inclusive package with no worries of food selection for all meals. They made sure of having all options in each meal also they provide you any special request. Staff were very friendly and helpful but sometimes they annoy us with many questions. Room was great , clean and fully equipped with what you need but bathroom was the worst !! You can tell it’s very old and requires an immediate repair & finally AC was working really good and cold

Overnight stay”
Cozy hotel, nice room with direct view on the beach/ sea. Food - not extensive variety in the buffet but in general taste good. Service - bit of waiting to be served, at reception they give priority to those checking in even though I was in front of the desk before. Negative points: hotel is a bit dated. Furniture and wooden ground lack lustre and is old. Late checkout is payable even if no one was allocated the same room immediately after (I often go to hotels but it is first time i hear a hotel charging for late checkouts)

OK, but there is room of improvement”
Cons: - ants in the room. They were just everywhere - in the bed, in the bathroom, on the floor etc. - the AC was very loud and in addition to usual noise, it made periodic "exploding" sounds, which were disturbing - the nice relaxing beach experience is ruined by all the boats stationed at the hotel beach, which keep going back and forth over the coral, polluting and disturbing the marine life. - room and hotel have a "tired" look and could use some refurbishment - hotel employees kept coming up to us trying to sell additional services, which we would have to pay more for. I understand why they do it, but it gets old fast. - no complimentary drinking water in the room - would have been nice to have it. Pros: - quiet hotel, also located in a quiet area of the island - great breakfast and dinner (we only tried the buffet) - great beach with corals close to shoreline, which made it perfect for snorkeling - spacious pool area - the hotel staff was friendly and helpful - good wifi

I didn't like the beach was too rocky and the restaurants were too over priced the massages was also over priced and super expensive .The bed was hard and place was full of ants

Terrible place - just go to the West Coast”
As we were planning our trip and we were planning on seeing all areas of the island, we opted to stay 2 nights at the "well priced" Solana Beach on half board (dinner, bed & breakfast) so that we can see and experience the famed Belle Mare beach and area. What a joke! The beach at Solana is a narrow little beach littered with dead coral that cut your feet if you are not wearing protective swimming shoes. So don't even think of spending time lazing in the sun on the beach. While we were there, people were gathered around the pool - also small compared to how many rooms it has to "service". The food is adequate in their buffet restaurant. Unfortunately the staff do not think ahead that perhaps when people come for a 2 or 3 night stay, that they should pre-book one of the other optional restaurants on their property on their guests' behalf. When we enquired on arrival, we were told that the restaurant is full for both nights that we were there. Yet walking past it on our way to the buffet restaurant , there were 2 tables occupied the first night and 3 tables the second night, which leads me to believe that the staff discriminate between guests staying on half board basis and staff staying on full board or all inclusive. In general we found the staff to be rude or offish with the only friendly person to be the spa reception lady. Our room clearly stated in permanent marker on the door handle " defective" and also on the wifi range extender plugged into the bathroom power outlet. Our overall experience at Solana was terrible, we could not wait to get away.Rather try somewhere on the west coast, the weather is better and they have stunning beaches. Don't believe the photos you see of Solana. It is run down and the beach is narrower that on the photo.

Bitter Pill to Swallow”
I would have given it more stars for 'Value for Money', had my electric toothbrush been returned to me. Either it was disposed off or perhaps the hotel thought that I would ask them to bear the costs of sending it to me. I say the latter as I was told to pay a late check-out fee to extend my check-out time to 15:00 instead of the usual 11:00. Bear in mind that the hotel was not full....and hence why a late check-out was possible but at exorbitant fee. Also, the hotel provides blankets in the room which you will like need to cover yourself if you intend to sleep with the AC on and not get bitten by mosquitos. This blanket is however FILTHY. The hotel should consider washing them...
