I booked as I liked the decor ad style of Dakota Hotels , The Hotel was very busy upon check in at 7pm due to guest requests at Lobby . Perhaps the reception could be staffed more during busy periods , Once I got to checkin the staff were quick and effecient in checkin me in , Iself serve ice machines on each floor or atleast one floor would be a good idea rather than delivery of ice to room , which subseqently was a member of staff that checked me in earlier , perhaps they need to employ more staff as it was clear the staff were extremly busy , I give the staff 5 star for making the effort .

Having stayed at this hotel a couple of times before; I was left disappointed after our recent stay by silly things. No remote for the TV, the toilet not working properly and being automatically locked out our room at 11am when I was half way through bringing my luggage out the roomy I check out. This meant I had to go downstairs with one bag, go to reception (wait in a large queue to get my key reactivated) then go back up again to retreve the rest of my stuff. No apology from staff - in fact the girl behind the desk said nothing.

We've stayed here for 3 nights. Hotel was great but it's too far from main tourists attraction (a.k.a Edinburgh castle). The pros: * comfortable bed * great facilities (provide free toiletries that we are allowed to bring home) * luxury interior * nearby supermarket Tesco and bus halte Cons: * too far from main tourist attraction. It takes an hour to go to Edinburgh castle and from train station. Not suitable for tourists to stay, probably more suitable for business stay. * price is bit too expensive, considering the distance and time to get there. * breakfast is expensive. Continental breakfast is 10pounds, while made in kitchen one is 14pounds. Despite the expensive price, the variety food itself is not many choices
