Derwentwater Independent Hostel is set within 17 acres of grounds, this Georgian mansion has a large waterfall and you can spot red squirrels in the grounds. Located in the Lake District National Park,150 metres from the shores of Derwent Water and Keswick’s town centre is 5 minutes’ drive away. Orienteering courses can be arranged and there is a large area for ball games. Canoeing, windsurfing and yachting are all possible on Derwentwater. Borrowdale’s renowned climbing valley is less than 10 minutes’ drive from Derwentwater Independent Hostel. Local bottled ale is served and guests can enjoy homemade food in the dining room . Packed lunches are also available. With a communal lounge area, Derwentwater Independent Hostel also has 2 dining rooms, laundry facilities and a drying room. All rooms have bunk beds with their own light and some have lockable storage. Most bedrooms have a sink and all rooms have access to shared bathrooms.

Great location”
Situated just in front of Derwentwater Lake, bus stop is just 1 minute walk from the hostel. Waking up from the sound of waterfall behind the hostel is just way too perfect.

Hostel with a great view”
The place has a nice view and hence lots of the playing area including a Football ground. However, they can have more clean rooms and better self catering kitchen

Nice Hostel, but could improve in hygiene”
The location of the Hostel was very nice. The football field outside as well as the view of lake was very nice. However, two things that were of concern. The hygiene conditions in the washrooms were below par and while, checking in they informed us that they would not accept cards.
