Quite tricky to get to the hotel”

We are tourists and we stayed two nights in this lodge. One thing we noticed is how tricky it is to get to the hotel once you exit the highway because it is just right the exit and if there is a traffic jam, you won't be able to stay on the left side where the hotel is located. Otherwise, you will have to drive the road around the hotel to get you to the main entrance and parking lot. It isn't bad, just tricky. The whole place looks very old as well as the rooms but clean enough. Customer service is average in light of the pandemic. They want as little contact as possible.

      Emergency two day room ”

I was surprised to see how clean the room was and liked it’s configuration. I’m from San Diego and have passed this Hotel probably 2000 times since 1973. It was about time I lodged there. The air conditioner worked great and had a refrigerator. There isn’t any stores in the area so you will need a car to get around to eateries. My only dislike there’s no elevator but there’s not to many stairs to climb to second floor.

      Just Okay”

Very little parking, kinda out of the way, but still within walking distance of most things around the Gaslamp Quarter. If you're looking to save money and don't care about amenities, this place is adequate. Get there early and prepare to leave your car in a spot or you'll lose that spot for the night.

      Traffic Noise”

The hotel is circled by major streets, so there are significant traffic noise. The ground floor is open with no gating on three sides of the property, so homeless people wonder onto the property during the day and late night. During my stay, one homeless women was yelling at the top of her lungs at passing traffic.

Most affordable prices in town besides the hostel options. Walls were thin enough to hear people outside easily, deep scratches on door, walls and bathroom fixtures too. Bed was fresh and clean and they offered more square footage like a breakfast nook that was never used. Meh for overall price and location.

Read comments before booking! The motel is surrounded on all 4 sides by either a freeway or highway, which makes it very noisy and feels unsafe because you can hear yelling that goes on outside. The non-smoking room smelled a lot like smoke, and the curtains also smelled like smoke. The sheets and towel had stains. The room did not have a toilet paper holder. It doesn't feel safe because there is only one lock on the door; there is no security lock. However, the front desk staff was friendly.

      Beware”

Smelled like smoke really bad - and I asked fir a non-smoking room. Signs around the complex said no smoking within ... and there were lots of cigarette butts (and trash). Outside was pretty dirty. Road notice was beyond terrible - we got no sleep because of the traffic noise. Room - OMG, carpet was in terrible shape and had burn marks and the porch was black filthy. The room was not even close to what the pictures look like. Our bodies smelled so bad after leaving the hotel - we stunk - it took 3-times washing to remove the smell. The third night a couple below us were drink and the guy mad loud noises all night long - he didn’t pass out until after 5:30 am “what a nightmare!” Staff - no button to press and no way to get hold of anyone - the door was locked - button to push for assistance was missing. Bathroom was old and very few towels and very small shampoo and soap packets - hardly enough to properly take a shower. Shower head leaked very bad and water pressure was very low. And to make thing worse homeless people were gathering around this place - my wife was afraid to go outside (and so was our dog). This place needs to be torn down and should not be on any site as a hotel!
