"For the price I was expecting something half as good as this was. The place has been recently opened so all of the rooms, beds, showers, lockers, everything! They all work like they are supposed to. The showers have enough room for all of your stuff without getting it wet. The code-use for getting in and out of the rooms is perfect so you don't have to worry about losing a key. Your locker in the room is a combo lock so no need to bring one, they also work great. The WiFi is quality and I saw a lot of people in the common area doing their work without issue or complaint. The location! Oh what a spot, literally in the center of the old town. It's amazing they have the building even available to have a hostel in it. The history of the building is something you'll want to ask the staff about and head down into their vaults to check it out. Walking tours start and end out the front so you know it's a good spot with plenty of history. Would certainly stay again"

"We were trying to decide between two hotels for our visit to Edinburgh for the last weekend of the Fringe Festival and Edinburgh Tattoo - their busiest time of the year. When looking at the photos of the two hotels, the Scotsman appealed to us more than the other from the decor. But the decider was that one of my daughters who, as a young college student 6 years earlier had visited Edinburgh with a friend, recognized the hotel and restaurant as the one which had welcomed them so warmly one evening, despite their obviously not being big spenders and being tired and hungry! We couldn't have made a better choice and they still welcome you very warmly. The location is terrific. We could walk everywhere but the shipyard. It's a beautiful old hotel with updated features like a luxurious bed and bathroom. We were travelling with 2 of our daughters who are in their 20s. Our room was on two levels, with the bedroom and bathroom upstairs. We had a beautiful view of Edinburgh and the castle. The downstairs windows looked out towards Calton Hill. The bathroom was HUGE with an excellent rainhead shower. (We didn't use the lovely bathtub) Our daughters' room included a sauna off their bathroom! From the moment we pulled up in the car the staff went above and beyond. Ivor drove with me to the parking spot, which is close to the hotel but required going around the block in heavy traffic. To make sure I didn't get lost or frustrated, he drove with me and showed me how to get in to the hotel from the lower level. The staff are all exceptional. Ivor went above and beyond the whole time, but Nick and the other bellman were wonderful too. The staff in the restaurant very accommodating and pleasant. We got to walk through the lobby of other hotel we had been considering and all of us agreed that we had picked the better hotel. We love the tartan fabrics (from Anta) on the wing chairs in the reception area and wood paneling. There are little reminders that this once house"

"Location is great! Just minutes from the Old Town and you can practically walk to anywhere else (Edinburgh Castle, Carlton Hill, Arthur's seat) within 15-20 minutes. The room itself is exceptional! Huge, cosy and new. It looks just like a 5stars hotel, but price-wise is a 3stars. Bathroom is clean and spacious; the best we have seen throughout our 20 days around UK. For travelers who drive, you can park at the nearby meter parking, or if you arrive after 8pm, you can park along the road outside the hotel for free until 8am the next day. We will definitely stay here again if we come back to Edinburgh. "

"We were travelling with our daughter and her boyfriend. First time to Edinburgh. We didn't know what to expect. What we got was nothing short of amazing. Fantastic 2 bedroom apartment in a location, which is central at the old town. We are critical global travellers, so we know quality, and this was it. First class. On top of that the staff was incredibly helpful, and kind. Made us feel at home from the very moment, we arrived. One thing : Bear in mind this is old town/Royal Mile. There is no adjacent parking, but you can park your car at a public car park approx. 10 minutes walk away, and you get a 20 % discounted stamp from the hotel for the car park expenses. I know, where I am staying next time in Edinburgh... Enjoy Old Town Chambers as much as we did. Kind regards Hans-Henrik Nielsen Dubai"

"i booked a standard / twin room for a sunday night stay (advertised as single occupancy) via agoda at 48 hrs notice for the bargain price! i ticked the traveller request boxes for a high level room with a large bed. jury's is located 2 mins walk from the rear exit of waverley railway station onto market street (on exiting the station, cross to the opposite side of the road, walk left along market street and follow the road that bends to the right onto jeffrey street. the hotel is on the right. check-in staff were very friendly and efficient on my arrival. the security at the hotel is good as you need to use your room keycard to access the elevators. i was delighted to find that i was allocated a room on the 4th floor which was had plenty of space, a great sized bed (approx queen size) and also a 2 seater sofa despite only being a solo traveller which i appreciated. i heard no outside noise despite being in a busy city centre location across the road from the station. the room was clean, comfortable and had tasteful decor. on returning to the hotel at 3.30am (yes edinburgh bars are open late on sunday nights too ;-) i found my room keycard wasn't working probably from keeping it in my wallet next to the magnetic strip on my bank card, so i wasn't able to operate the elevator. despite the late hour, a member of staff immediately came across to offer his assistance and he reprogrammed my keycard. i didn't eat or drink at the hotel so am unable to comment on restaurant / bar (i was unable to submit this review without rating the food/dining so i have rated it 4 in line with my other ratings) the best i have ever spent. i would return to jury's although i doubt the room £25 price is available very often."

"All the staff are friendly, helpful, energetic. Probably the hotel with best staff that I've ever come across. Hotel location is perfect right in the old town of Edinburgh. You can expect standard room design as what else you can find from our Ibis. However, they are new and clean. The F&B experience is excellent. It's enjoyable to dine at the restaurant. Food quality definitely outweigh everyone's expectation towards an Ibis Hotel. Breakfast is a must try. It is for sure a hotel choice that is not only valued for money but also exceed your expectation."

More about Edinburgh Old Town

Edinburgh’s medieval Old Town is the highlight of the city, with a great selection of sites and activities on hand. Tourists prefer hotels in the Old Town, where they can easily walk to restaurants, shops and museums.

The Old Town’s most famous site is the oft-photographed Edinburgh Castle. It’s over 1,000 years and surrounded by legends. Nearby the castle is the Royal Lyceum Theater, or tourists can follow the Royal Mile across the Old Town to the 16th-century Palace of Holyroodhouse. By day, the Royal Mile is busy with street performers and souvenir shops. By night, the action shifts south to the pubs and restaurants of Grassmarket and Cowgate.

Visiting the Old Town is all about getting acquainted with Scottish heritage and history. The Royal Museum and the Scottish Whiskey Heritage Centre are favorite first-day stops, but there is just as much to take in at small churches like Greyfriars Kirk or Huntly House, which houses the Museum of Edinburgh.

The Royal Scottish Academy may only date to the 19th century, but it looks like a Greek temple and holds an interesting collection of sculptures, paintings and architectural drafts. It’s near other art galleries including the National Gallery of Scotland, the Fruitmarket Gallery and DOM.

Most of the accommodation in Old Town Edinburgh is between Holyrood Park and Princes Street Gardens, in an area where visitors are never short of things to do. If sightseeing becomes burdensome, visitors can stop by the Brass Rubbing Centre to make a wax impression of a Celtic cross; or they can enjoy a show at the Edinburgh Festival Theatre or the interactive exhibits at Our Dynamic Earth. Other Old Town attractions are the Portfolio Gallery, Scottish Gems and Netherbow.
