We were trying to decide between two hotels for our visit to Edinburgh for the last weekend of the Fringe Festival and Edinburgh Tattoo - their busiest time of the year. When looking at the photos of the two hotels, the Scotsman appealed to us more than the other from the decor. But the decider was that one of my daughters who, as a young college student 6 years earlier had visited Edinburgh with a friend, recognized the hotel and restaurant as the one which had welcomed them so warmly one evening, despite their obviously not being big spenders and being tired and hungry! We couldn't have made a better choice and they still welcome you very warmly. The location is terrific. We could walk everywhere but the shipyard. It's a beautiful old hotel with updated features like a luxurious bed and bathroom. We were travelling with 2 of our daughters who are in their 20s. Our room was on two levels, with the bedroom and bathroom upstairs. We had a beautiful view of Edinburgh and the castle. The downstairs windows looked out towards Calton Hill. The bathroom was HUGE with an excellent rainhead shower. (We didn't use the lovely bathtub) Our daughters' room included a sauna off their bathroom! From the moment we pulled up in the car the staff went above and beyond. Ivor drove with me to the parking spot, which is close to the hotel but required going around the block in heavy traffic. To make sure I didn't get lost or frustrated, he drove with me and showed me how to get in to the hotel from the lower level. The staff are all exceptional. Ivor went above and beyond the whole time, but Nick and the other bellman were wonderful too. The staff in the restaurant very accommodating and pleasant. We got to walk through the lobby of other hotel we had been considering and all of us agreed that we had picked the better hotel. It is located in the main street of the old town of Edinburgh. The building that an apartment located is old but there is a lift to take you to your floor. Conversely, after you unlock your apartment door, a room is very clean, very nice and very beautiful. There is a kitchen and living room in your apartment. Every facilities are working. This apartment is very close to many attractions, for example, you can walk about 5 to 10 minutes to Edinburgh Castle. Moreover, there are many restaurants and fast foods around the apartment.

We were a family of 5 with 3 adult children and stayed in Apartment 13/9. The apartment was a 2 bedroom apartment with a large family room with pull-out sofa bed and nicely stocked kitchen. The apartment was clean with plenty of windows providing natural light. The location was ideal, minutes walk away from the Grassmarket, where there are many wonderful restaurants and pubs, and Edinburgh Castle which stands at the beginning of the Royal Mile in Old town. For those with a car, the complex has available parking for a fee. The front desk staff were warm, welcoming and extremely helpful. The apartment was serviced daily. Ideal for anyone (couple or family) who doesn't need a traditional hotel with restaurant, bar, room service, health club, etc. and prefers to experience the local flavor.

Location is great! Just minutes from the Old Town and you can practically walk to anywhere else (Edinburgh Castle, Carlton Hill, Arthur's seat) within 15-20 minutes. The room itself is exceptional! Huge, cosy and new. It looks just like a 5stars hotel, but price-wise is a 3stars. Bathroom is clean and spacious; the best we have seen throughout our 20 days around UK. For travelers who drive, you can park at the nearby meter parking, or if you arrive after 8pm, you can park along the road outside the hotel for free until 8am the next day. We will definitely stay here again if we come back to Edinburgh.

We were travelling with our daughter and her boyfriend. First time to Edinburgh. We didn't know what to expect. What we got was nothing short of amazing. Fantastic 2 bedroom apartment in a location, which is central at the old town. We are critical global travellers, so we know quality, and this was it. First class. On top of that the staff was incredibly helpful, and kind. Made us feel at home from the very moment, we arrived. One thing : Bear in mind this is old town/Royal Mile. There is no adjacent parking, but you can park your car at a public car park approx. 10 minutes walk away, and you get a 20 % discounted stamp from the hotel for the car park expenses. I stayed at this hotel for 4D/3N with my family (husband and 3 children). This is my second time to Edinburgh but for the first time stayed at this hotel. We booked 2 superior rooms. The room is big enough but the bathroom is too small, the bed is very comfy. The reception staffs is friendly and helpfull, cause he gave me all the informations about the hotel. The location of Radisson Blu is very good, near to some cafes, restaurants, bars, gift shops and not far from Edinburgh Castle (it can be reached by walk) and some tourist’s spots. We are very happy to stay at this hotel and will recommend to my friends and will stay at this hotel again if we go back to Edinburgh another time.

All the staff are friendly, helpful, energetic. Probably the hotel with best staff that I've ever come across. Hotel location is perfect right in the old town of Edinburgh. You can expect standard room design as what else you can find from our Ibis. However, they are new and clean. The F&B experience is excellent. It's enjoyable to dine at the restaurant. Food quality definitely outweigh everyone's expectation towards an Ibis Hotel. Breakfast is a must try. It is for sure a hotel choice that is not only valued for money but also exceed your expectation.

My family (young kids) and I stayed at this hotel for two nights. The Adgio Aparthotels are absolutely wonderful. The apartment that we stayed in was just right for a small family and includes a fully equipped kitchen which is very convinient. The entire apartment is very clean and would recommend to anyone. It's close distance to the famous Edinburgh Castles about 15mins walk and also you find plenty of roadside restaurants within 2 to 5 mins of walking. If you are trevelling by car there is a public car park about 2 mins away from the hotel, however since the hotel is on a main road loading and unloading can be difficult during peak traffic times. What we did was, there was some empty space behind the hotel and also by the side of the hotel which you can use to load and unload. The hotel has a coin operated self laundry service with both washer and dryer and detergent is included which is very convenient. Overall, good location, very clean, friendly staff and super value for money.

Highly recomended for a budget hostel in edinburgh. I should come and stay from the first day in edinburgh. But because the picture not so appealing, so i choose other hostel one fine day back from my highland tour, i booked this hostel to try out, because the best rate for the day. Surprised by the cleanliness, comfort of this hostel lift for your luagage First day i stay at disable room. Surprise me, a hostel with disable room. So happy with our stay in Edinburgh city hotel! We had a little welcome gift (a box of chocolate and a welcome note from the manager Mr Sunny and the staffs) as it was our honeymoon, the bathroom was huge, the room was huge! The best one we got from the rest of hotels we stayed in Europe on this trip! Location is very good, 10mins away to edinburgh castle, 2 mins away from local grocery stores, a lot of food options around the area. Bus stop just across the road. Everything is literally within your reach! Would stay here again definitely!

Great location if you want to go to Edinburgh Castle, Edinburgh Dungeon and the University of Edinburgh. However, 10 minutes walking from Edinburgh Waverley Station is impossible because of the great gradient between the station and the hostel. It is harder than you think when you dragging big luggage. Besides, the facilities are great, clean and interesting. Free coffee and hot chocolate and cheap breakfast. But remember to prepare toiletries yourself.

1. Location is perfect! Just 3-5 min walk from Royal Mile. So close to all the Main Tourist Attractions. All 15-20 min walk in Calton Hill, Edinburgh Castle, Arthur's Seat, a lot more. 2. Common Toilets & Showers (Boys & Girls) were always clean and well-maintained. Hot Showers were all functioning well. 3. Have Complimentary (FREE) Coffee, Tea and Hot Choco in the Kitchen. 4. Can cook & bake. Just make sure you label your food (with your Name, Room and Date of Departure) so, nobody can take or throw your food. Kitchen is big. Have complete utensils, pans, plates, cups. Just clean everything after cooking! 5. Have an amazing lounge at ground floor. A lot of people hang-out every day & night. They allowed the guest to bring their own food & drinks! 6. Have strong WiFi access! in all areas. 7. Beds were comfortable. Have own bedside safes, lockers two power sockets and light bulb. Rooms are big so, no need to worry if someone is taking your space. 8. 15-20 min walk to Edinburgh Waverley Train Station and St. James Shopping Mall (for Bus Station) and 30-minute drive to Edinburgh Airport via Bus (located near in Edinburgh Waverley Train Station). 9. Laundry is cheap (GBP 3.50). You gave your laundry in the afternoon; in the evening they will return to you. You can also rent a towel for only 20 pence. Iron for clothes is available too at the common areas. 10. Have continental breakfast. Have to pay around GBP 2 (not bad). Comes with bread, cheese, coffee, fruit, juice and cereals. However, you can buy Subway outside which cost only GBP 2.50 for bread and coffee. 11. Check-in (2pm) and Check-out (10:30am) is quickly done. For 5-10 minutes you already have and return the keys. 12. Reasonable price. Around GBP 10-15 on weekdays. GBP 25-35 during weekend. 13. Staff are nice and helpful. 14. A lot of Free activities for guests. Pub Crawl, Beer Pong, etc. The only CON is that you can only stay here Maximum 2 weeks or 14 days and you are NOT allowed to return aga

Pool was cold and you need 1 extra person to clear tables in breakfast room, that would clear the long cue for breakfast at the weekend .Also only for your Christmas tree in the lobby Edinburgh has no Christmas atmosphere what so ever ,No lights on royal mile and only for food market on princess street there are no lights anywhere. Edinburgh is supposed to be noted for Christmas lights, you need to come to Galway ,killarney or any city or town in Ireland to experience Christmas. Very disappointed .city council you need to get your act together.

I went in Edinburgh with my friend for 2 days trip snd booked a private double room here. I was surprised to see that all the facilities were available, including plates or cutlery or anything you would ever need in everyday life !! It was certainly value for money . The staffs were friendly, room was clean & secured and there were 3 shared bathrooms in the apartment I lived ! It was wonderful.. the only things I didn't like is that there was no handwash in the toilet & the windows of the room could never be closed, even in the winter! Overall a very good experience & I would definitely recommend EH to anyone out there !

It is in a nice location, downtown Edinburgh. This place is actually better than most of the reviews I read about it. I felt safe since the rooms are allocate by "flat" (no more than 3 rooms) which only allows people from those rooms to have access to that area, not the whole hostel. Besides there are at least 3 doors, well locked, before you get to your room. Again, I do not understand why some reviews mention did not feel safe. I highly recommend.

The room is bigger than expected. It is not a lavish hotel, just a basic one. As expected, most of the hotels in Edinburgh are expensive, so with the price they offer for a night, it is already alright considering that it is just a minute walk to the Royal mile and about 3 -minute walk to the waverly station. We got a room on the 3rd floor but they have an elevator so it wasn't difficult to take our things to the room. We had 2 big luggages and a buggy with a 2 yr old toddler. We stayed from saturday to wednesday. Saturday was a busy day in the royal mile and cockburn street as there are many pubs, restaurants and likes in these areas. So expect that it will be extra noisy during weekends. If we'll travel back to Edinburgh, I will still consider to stay in this hotel.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at marriot residence inn. Hotel was quite near the airport. Arrived at hotel at 2pm but could only checked in at 4pm which is a bit too late. So went for a good scottish lunch in a restaurant nearby. The hotel has good location. Walking distance to the royal mile which has many restaurants and souvenier shops. Also very near the Edinburgh Castle and princess street and other tourist attractions. Checked in room given. Happy with a big and clean room with 2 big comfortable beds and a kitchenette with microwave oven and dish washer. There was a huge sofa bed. We could even do our laundry free of charge with soap powner provided at the reception downstairs. The breakfast was good with a big selection of continental food. There were apples at the reception for guests any time. We were welcomed with mulled drinks, nice minced pies and cookies. There were also computers and free wifi for the whole day. Will definately stay again in this hotel if I visit edinburgh again.

I got double room which is super large for me as solo traveller, the room condition was great, perfect. Only one thing is the problem with heater, I inform the staff but they come to fix soon after. The location was very good, right in the middle of the Old town, near the attraction (Edinburgh castle and National museum of Scotland). The room provided good tea corner with drinks, all you need for a shower. The room feel modern and clean. Recommended for everyone, I will surely re-visit the place again if I got a good price like this time.

We spent two splendid nights in the Apartments Royal. The location just inside the pedestrian zone of the High Street is first rate & simply couldn't be beaten from the perspective of being 'at the Fringe'; my kids simply loved it. Apartment lounge area overlooks the High Street, but has the bedrooms within the much quieter area at the back of the Apartment, so has an ideal & well-conceived configuration. Apartment is a little 'tired' in places, but was very clean & has excellent facilities with a decent shower in the bathroom, a superb kitchen & some reasonable sized bedrooms with plenty of wardrobe space to the main bedroom. Particular mention most go to Armando, who went out of his way to help get us into the apartment + he was also fantastic with helping us out with parking (but would recommend leaving the car at home if you can as the more sensible option, as Edinburgh is well served with alternative means of transport close by). We are already looking at a return visit to Edinburgh, with these Apartments being top of the shortlist.
