Fall in Ueno”

The hotel is about a ten minute walk through several streets next to the station. It's surrounded by small restaurants. The staff was accomodating and friendly - even loaned us free umbrellas. The breakfasts was great for the price as well. Highly recommend this APA hotel rather than the one further away from the RR. This hotel is also very close to the Ueno Park and shopping street malls.

Good Facilities”

Nice hotel to stay. Clean and we got good facilities. The location near JR station and Ueno Park. The mini minus is the room size. We brought 2 big luggage and had to open luggage on the bed (cause room is small). GOOD :)

Great hotel!”

Close to the train station with a convenience store right across the street. Breakfast buffet is very nice, the rooms are clean, and provided toiletries are nice. Room is small but well laid out and staff is very friendly.

Great for business trip”

Great budget hotel, clean facility. Good as business trip efficacy. Location is quite some distance to the JR station. The closest exit is Iriya Exit. But the actual distance to the gate is quite far. Even further if one uses Keisei Skyliner Airport Express (at least 15 to 20 mins walk). Tourists with suitcases, or when weather is bad, the walk could be quite a hassle. Staff are professional, check-in is smooth.

Small but clean and nice hotel”

We chose this hotel because it's near the Ueno Station (8 min. walk) and Keisei Line/Sky Liner (12 min. walk) and the price was reasonable in spite of the date when we booked it. We had a smooth and fast transactions when we checked-in and checked-out. The staff are friendly and very accommodating. There's no time that we didn't see them not smiling. Our room is always clean and they really won't disturbed you until you remove or they didn't see the "do not disturb" sign on your door. There are convenient stores and vendo machines near the hotel. There's also a vendo machine, ice rack and microwave available in hotel's lobby and an iron board on each floor, near the elevator. The only thing the negative that I can say or think of is the size of the room. It's a small room (but I guess that's a normal in a Japanese hotels) so if you have big luggage, you'll have a problem with the space. But over-all, my friends and I had a great stay at APA Hotel Ueno-Ekimae. :)

Clean - cheap - very small”

Hotel was very clean. They have only 1 elevator for all 13 floors so some mornings so plan accordingly if you are trying leave during the morning rush. The rooms are extremely small - the bed touches the wall on 3 sides and the 4th side didn't really have enough room to fully open my suitcase. That being said, it's convenient to Ueno station which can quickly get you anywhere of interest in the city. The windows have good sound insulation, although you should be aware they don't enable air conditioning during winter months - we ended up having to open the window to cool down the room.

The Staff is not helpful”

We have a really bad experience staying at this hotel, for the first 3 night, we slept without using heater because the staff told us that there's no heater in the room. It was very freezing winter but no heater in the room, I really wish I don't have to sleep in the room. It turns out the staff are mistaken, finally we find the button to turn on the heating, but we found it on the 4th night we stayed there. The room is also too small for family with young children, it's not a recommended place to stay. The location also not very strategic, it is quite far from the station.

not far from JR Ueno Station. But we are arrived at late, it's already dark and there are many crossway along the way , so we took time for a while to find the hotel. However, the front staff is kind and the place so clean:)

Great location”

The location is desirable, nothing much to complain about really! Staff were all helpful despite the small size of the hotel. The rate seems pretty ok; however, should have been better taking into account the room size of 11 sqm. Cleaning was usually done properly. An ice-machine was located on the ground floor for hotel guests! Overall, it's fantastic.

Best modern hotel”

The hotel is nearly from the Ueno station(just walk around 10 min to the station). Thehotel is very clean and look nice. It decorate with the modern style. Cons: the room is too small, not good for the traveller who have a big luggage(really hard to open and mange your stuffs in the luggage). Sum: it's good for everyone who want a cheap and good hotel but should concern about your luggage size.

Excellent service”

I'd made reservation at APA Hotel Ueno Ekimae, thinking it was APA Hotel Keisei Ueno Ekimae. I didn't realise until I checked into the latter. The staff at both hotels are professional, empathetic, patient and polite. They had made my stay with my mum as pleasant and comfortable as possible, despite the mistake I made. Mr Takeuchi, Ms Sakama, Ms Mira at the former; and Ms Miyeshita in the latter had gone beyond their code of conduct and stretch their limits to assist us with our requests. They are all very thoughtful and helpful, especially Mr Takeuchi, who was always there when we needed assistant. He seemed to be on 24-hr shift as he was always available at the counter. My mum and I are really grateful to be served by all at APA Hotel, who had made our stay really comfortable and enjoyable. Thank you all for your effort!

Ueno ekimae”

Small room but maximized every space especially in the bathroom. Stayed during peak season so the rate was very high. I misunderstood that the location of the hotel is near the iriya station. What they meant was ueno station, iriya exit.

Nice hotel and not too far from subway.”

Hotel is nice and clean. Staffs are willingly to help and answer us. Location is around 10-12 minutes walk from Ueno subway which is not too far. No coin laundry but the nearest is around 1km (15 min) by walking.

Very clean, new hotel”

Relatively well located few minutes walk from Ueno station. Everything is very efficiently designed. The only downsize would be the size of the room and the toilet itself. Otherwise it was a very good experience. I would stay again.

Little room with everything you needed”

Is about 3 to 5 mins walk to Ueno Iraya exist. We have a good time staying in the hotel as they provided bath tub inside the room which we feel so good after a whole day shopping. Bed is very comfortable but the pillow just too hard and flat.

Not bad ”

It’s close to Ueno station about 8 mins walk. We traveled with young kids and the website said young kid are welcome to stay but the front desk refused to let us check in and it took almost one hour for them to contact Agoda and finally allow us to check-in. I had all the printed confirmation but they still refused. My kids were hungry and crying. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to those travel with kids.

Hotel close to Tokyo museum”

I chose this hotel as I wanted to visit the museum area of Tokyo. While I expected a small room, the large step up into the bathroom was difficult for me and then another large step over the bath for a shower. the staff tried to be helpful, however, their English was poor, if you got a trainee. Finally, only one elevator meant there were delays at times. The 2 pillows provided were small and hard but I did get one soft pillow when I asked at reception. It’s confusing to have two hotels named APA in the same area and after a long flight I got directions to the incorrect hotel, so I had to get a taxi to the correct APA hotel.

Bad air con facility and poor service-mind staff”

We stay at this hotel between 30 Apr - 3 May. We have noticed malfunction of the room's air-conditioning unit as it could not swing nor provide cold air. After calling staff at front desk, they reboot the system which made the unit able to swing. Unfortunately, it turned to be a heater and provided hot air. We made another attempt by contacting the service staff. A young male staff manned at 6.00pm on 30 Apr who can speak English told us that the AC unit in my room was operated by a central controlling system which adjusted it to be a heater to compensate the cold weather outside. He refused to change the room for us and suggested we should open the window to get cold air if we wanted to. Well, this would come with disturbing noise from the street outside. I found his reaction was not polite as he acted with a grumpy boredom face. I hope this complaints reach someone who could help with the AC unit or the manner of that particular staff.
