Best. Hotel. Ever.”
This is my second review of this hotel. It is a perfect hotel. If you can get a good deal on agoda and not pay more that $50, it will be the best hotel experience you have ever had. Staff and atmosphere make this place a pleasure to stay as a solo traveler. I preferred the private room, but the shared room is beautiful too. The top bunk in the female dorm is very cool with a nice staircase, not a ladder. I recommend the top bunk! The bathrooms and shower rooms are always clean. You never feel like you are not the first one in there... But I still enjoyed my 3 nights in my deluxe single. Beware that even though on agoda there are many different names and prices for the rooms, there are only 4 types of rooms.... No matter what they call them! The capsule, single bed (queen?), A twin bunk bed and a queen bunk with a single bed on top. All beds are nice and big. The capsule is the biggest and nicest I have ever seen!

Managed to grab a night (dorm bed) on this 'hot selling' Hostel. You will have to book way in advance (months) in order to book on this hostel. Arrived the hostel, well design & am amaze how the Japanese maximize the space of the building. Hostel is near to Sanjo shopping district. Located at one of the quiet alley, no worries if you walk back alone to hostel at night as Japan is considered as one of the safest country on the planet. There is bar located at the basement level, cold beer is served with discounted price for tenant. Bunk bed is comfortable and travelers get to share the toilets and bathrooms at basement level. The facilities offered is tip top (imagine a Dysonhair dryer for travelers!) Simple breakfast is served in the morning but somehow delicious, enough to fill up your stomach before a day off to Kyoto City. I have no complain on this hostel. Will be back for sure during my return visit to Kyoto. Keep up the good job 'PIECE'

Hidden Gem in Kyoto”
Situated at Sanjo area with lots of quaint and interesting shops around. The staffs are extremely friendly and all the facilities are just clean and new. They even have a lovely roof terrace ( though didn't manage to spend a lot of time there). Breakfast is included and although the staff mentioned not to expect too much and it will be a simple breakfast however I think it is nice enough to start off the day. They allow me to store the luggage when I checked out that day and out exploring in Kyoto before heading to Osaka. Definitely will be coming back to this hostel to stay if I am visiting Kyoto again (which I will). Can't recommend it enough for anyone who wanted a place with great value!

I have stayed at both Piece Hostel locations, they’re always fantastic. Sanjo is a great location 10 min walk from the subway, even closer to buses. Nishiki market is less than 10 min walk. The Hostel is clean, staff are kind and helpful, the rooftop patio is lovely. I’ve stayed in a 4 person room and a solo room, both were clean and had a great use of a small space. The beds were comfy too! Breakfast is a mix of western (toast, croissants, coffee) and Japanese (soups, boiled eggs, rice, tea). No complaints. I’ll stay again next time I’m in Kyoto.

New Renovate Hostel”
We booked 4 rooms double room and 2 triple rooms for 3 nights. We arrived at Piece Hostel before the check-in time so we stored our luggage at the lobby and went to Nishiki Market to settle our lunch. We went back to the hostel for check-in and the staff was friendly and they can speak Mandarin. The check-in process was efficient. We were given a room card for everyone because after midnight the lobby door will lock and you will need the room card to access. The room is bigger than most of Japan hotels. Free wifi available at the whole building. But sometimes the line was slow. Shower and toilet were separate which is convenient. Water pressure is strong enough for me. They provide towels, slippers (you have to take our own on the elevator side), and you can have extra pillows on each floor! The hotel provides free breakfast not much selection which includes traditional Japanese dishes and pastries like the croissant, almost the same for 3 days. Coffee and tea making facilities ar

Incredibly helpful and kind staff”
I was highly impressed by this hostel, as it was all around very clean and close to everything. Namely, I would like to give a shout-out to the front desk staff, especially Jenna, who went out of her to help me secure some restaurant reservations. I spent over 100 nights at Marriott hotels last year as a travelling consultant, and I feel that the level of service I got at this hostel far surpasses that of those at the St. Regis. Thanks for making this such a pleasant stay for me.

Superb, never regret. ”
This hotel is superb, keep it up. Upon check in Kai is giving us full information of this hotel. We occupied 3triple room attached with bathroom. All of us speechless to comment this hotel. Room clean, full room amenities , toilet is big, Breakfast is provided but don't expect to high, it's a simple breakfast. Evening time our family can gather at the basement cafe or at upper floor with nice view. Will strongly recommend to everyone with low cost budget. 5-8min walking distance from hotel to station.

super good choice for a trip in kyoto”
beyond my expectation... super clean and tidy. the room is not large be with really reasonable design, i can open my big suitcase easily and i think it is spacious enough for my own. air conditioning, toilet, bathroom, hangers, hair dryer, usb charging ports... everything you need is equipped. a few minutes walk to underground stations, but the location is central and close to Gion area, so it is very suitable for walking and i did walk a lot. i think i will still choose here if i come to kyoto again

It felt like a place that should cost more”
We stayed in a twin room with bunk beds and with a private shower and toilet. The room was very nice and clean. There was a make-your-own-takoyaki event on the roof which included unlimited takoyaki with the purchase of a single drink. The downstairs bar was a nice place to hang out. The lattes were tasty, and they had live jazz playing on the saturday and sunday evenings that we were there. You need to stay here!

The best hotel I've ever stayed at.”
If I could give the staff 10 stars I would. So nice to stay at a place that is so foreigner friendly and flexible. I love it. They are beyond friendly and helpful. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Every single detail of the design to the high quality towel racks is perfect. It is beautiful, simple and incredibly functional. No detail was missed. I was only planning on spending one night, but I stayed for 2 more and am just about to book tonight as well. You can't find anywhere this nice for this price ANYWHERE!!

Best Hostel in Kyoto”
I hesitate to write this review as I don't want the word to get out! The location is amazing, the rooms are clean with comfortable beds. Staff is outstanding.... (Thank you James and Steve!) The only change I would make is selling souvenir T-shirts instead of coffee mugs. Coffee mugs do not travel well!!!!

I'd say one of the best hostel in the area of sanjo. Even though at first we couldn't find it but once we do, we were blown to how does this place is in terms of the concept and design done. Facilities were one of the best, large shower and bathroom, a common area with a bar and a coffee bar and a rooftop lounge. They do have us a travellers map and tips and tricks of getting around Kyoto best spots with cheap bicycle rentals. Definitely will be back here once everything will be fine 👍

Short and sweet stay”
Room was just nice for a 1 night stopover. We chose the room without an attached bathroom, but access to the bathrooms were not inconvenient. Everything was sparkling clean and staff were friendly and courteous. The complimentary breakfast was more than enough to fill you up. The common areas are so homey and comfortable that I didn't want to leave!

Great hostel in between 4 stations”
The hostel is super clean, seems to be newly opened since late 2018. All the staff is friendly and with good english. I love the interior design, architecture and style of the whole hostel. Garden terrace, cafe and rooftop are nice areas to hang around. Breakfast is simple but great. Thank you Piece Hostel Sanjo!

First, the place is well located, quiet and peaceful environment. Staffs are very friendly and give every informations you need. The room is sufficient for us 3 persons. Very clean and well maintained. Also, the whole building is very clean, No regret at all. Highly recommended.

High Cost Performance”
Brand new facilities with stylish design. Room size is very reasonable and the bathroom is clean. Storage space under the bed could store suit case or so. Common area in the basement and roof floor are very cozy and comfortable. Free breakfast include bread, boiled egg, rice, soup and a today's special menu, very satisfying.

We booked a private room with own toilet. Room is simple and clean, space is just right for both of us. Breakfast is great, staff are friendly, location is awesome! They are also expanding their business to offer more private rooms in the future. We'll come back to this place again!

Excellent location and amenities”
Definitely recommend anyone coming to Kyoto to stay at Piece Hostel. Rooms are clean, beds are comfortable, breakfast is included, atmosphere is chill especially at the bar downstairs and rooftop where sometimes they have a live band to perform. Only downside is there isn't a locker to store your luggage in the mixed dorms.

Really great breakfast offering - enough to set you up for the whole day! Also thought the cafe/bar space downstairs was great. A fellow guest in my room kept cranking up the heater to over 25 degrees. The building is already nice and warm so it would be good if you could put a limit on this - to more like 22 :)

AMAZING STAY”
everything was just great. nice rooftop, restaurants, just a very cool place. very helpful staff as well. They told me every vegan restaurant and cafe I could visit and they offered to cook me a vegan curry for breakfast since they didn't have vegan option, but they were just so nice. Would definitely stay here again
