Aldgate apartments was an ideal solution for me as i needed to stay in London for a week on business and it is well located for central London. one thing to note is there is an additional £250 deposit needed to check in and the rules for using the apartment are pretty draconian. I understand not wanting to have people wreck an apartment with a party but it's not particularly welcoming to receive a list of things you are not allowed including any guests and wearing shoes... But the apartment is well presented like the pictures. I had a few issues getting access to the building as i was sent the wrong entry information, it took a while to get hold of anyone to fix this as there were no staff onsite and it was pretty cold waiting around outside. once inside the lift was out of service (as it was for 4 of the 5 days I stayed) but it was easy to get access to my apartment thereafter. The apartment was missing a few useful things like a sharp knife for cooking but generally a good stay.

Nice place but no Air Conditioning”
The neighborhood was less than ideal. There was community housing in all areas, definitely not what I expected. Roads along the apartment were littered with trash and stunk. Apartment was not labeled Aldgate Apartments but Marshall House. It was nice that supermarkets were available in close proximity. However there’s no AC unit and there was only 1 fan. And when you had the window open, flies would fly in and the roads outside were pretty noisy. No bathroom amenities- do take note and bring your own toiletries the bed was on wheels and kept shifting around. One of the heat sensors on the ceiling fell out.

Great for going to a gig at the troxy. Check in was complicated and communication with Excel Aprts was not great, had to chase them. Apartment was clean, comfortable and good value. A few oddities though like no lampshades, a single chair, one side plate and beds on wheels that moved as you sat on them. But I would recommend it as a base for a night

The lady on the "Security" team is extremely rude and unpleasant. She ended up hanging up on me whilst I was talking to her. It all stemmed from their policy of needing IDs for all guests. I sent over my ID as soon as I made the booking - but did not realise I needed all guests. Apparently she tried to call me the day before I was due to stay - but called only once, did not leave a message, and did not send me an email. When I asked why she did not leave a message on my voicemail - she replied that that was not her job. I'm sorry - but I would think that's the very definition of her job. Soon after that - she hung up on me. A very rude and discourteous person. In the course of writing this review I came across another poor review - which seems to cite the same person as being problematic. This person needs to be moved to a different position. I'm giving 2 stars for the staff - as the male who I spoke to on the main telephone contact number was very helpful - and understanding.

LIFT IS NOT WORKING AND FULL OF LIES 很糟的经历不推荐入住”
I book this apartment via Agoda and the rating was 7.6 which is good. Based on my trust with Agoda, I proceed with my booking for 12 nights business trip. This apartment operates under Excel apartment. You have to pay GBP250 in order to get pin to access the door & they sent on check-in day itself even you paid them earlier. On the arrival day, the lift is not working and call them, they lied to me that it’s going to fix the next day thus I carried my 20+kg luggage up to forth floor. After few calls during the stays, they kept provide empty promises that the next day will be fixed. There will be no housekeeping during your stay. They didn’t provide sufficient toiletries, coffee, sugar and milk despite of they knew exactly how many nights i’ll be staying. The last call to them, they admitted the lift is not working since last 3 weeks & yelled at me: “if you read the reviews, why book with us!?” when I confront with them about reviews on other booking sites that since early of the year the lift wasn’t working is true. Worst thing is they told me this lift will be fixed on my checkout date! What’s the point to have this fix as you know I’m going to carry my luggage down from forth floor thru staircases again!? The checkout took me climbing narrow staircase up and down three times to get all my luggage. I can’t imagine if I’m not capable to do this. Totally unbelievable and the customer service is incredibly rude and not helpful. Then they hang up my call and I can’t reach them anymore. You advertised this as comfortable? Luxury? The neighborhood is dodgy that you will heard police siren on main road every night. I don’t believe I deserve this type of treatment in London. If anyone could advise which government department I could file official complaint about this apartment, I will do it. Their lies must not continue. Value for your money”
Very convenient location! However there are a lot of detailed and bizarre rules that come with staying there, e.g no visitors , no stepping on the carpet with shoes... You have to remind staff to clean your room if staying more than a week, which is highly unprofessional. Other than that we had a great stay.

Do not use the basement apartment. In a run down area. Even I thought twice about walking around at night! No remote for TV. Bath damaged. Basement room runs level with someone's entrance so your face to face with other people and Thier gates are so noisy. At least there is a glass security screen between us or they could climb through your bedroom window ! Rubbish from previous people still in bin. will not use again.

DON’T BOOK this place!”
So I booked this place in NOV 2020, and I had the worst experience! 1. I made the booking on this site, on arrival at the apartment I was told they do no acknowledge any bookings from this site! 2. On this site they state a £250 deposit, however on arrival at the apartment, they did not acknowledge that either and requested £1000 deposit even tho it stated £250 while booking. They refused to give me the keys before I paid. 3. The staff ARE RUDE! The staff are not helpful. 4. The place is not as it looks on the site! 5. The place is DIRTY, dirty sheets, bathroom and sofa. 6. They did not refund my money all together, I had to keep chasing them up. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! AVOID !

Poor customer service”
Hot water taps of the shower at both the bath room and shower room were not functioning so that the water temperature was uncontrollable. Curtains of both the living room and the bed room were just placed on the floor near the windows. There was no reception desk nor service counter on site. We called the hotel management hotline for service three times in three days but no servicing guys had been sent. They had no record on the service requests or complaints from the guest and the guys who took the calls were different for each call so we need to start over and repeat the request for service items each time we called. Then we sent an email with photos and video of the reported items to the hotel management on the fourth day of our stay. A service technician finally came in the afternoon of the sixth day from our first call of service request. He fixed the curtains but did not have spare parts for the water valves of the shower taps. That means the facilities had not been fixed in our seven nights stay.

Got to the apartment it was located in a dangerous area of east London full of crackheads and pickpocketers and druggies, was left standing outside in the cold because we needed to complete a 3 step check in process which took ages, finally got in and the bathroom door handle was broken and tv wasn’t working, no reception or manager who we can talk to, had to call customer service a couple of times who said they’ll send someone or someone will call us but no one came or called.

They didn’t allow me to enter nor they gave me refund . Next day I went to place no one was their and later called on given number then lady said don’t call on this number. When I asked Agoda gave this number then said we will send you email. Email received and they demanded 750 pound that too without showing anything from apartment . I followed up too much with Apartment and Agoda and no one helped and gave my money back. I was blind Agoda user but this showed not to use Agoda anymore for any future booking too. don’t waste your money by booking in this hotel.

Horrible Service and Logistical experience”
Hello, aldgate has, in extremely fine print on their site, something about a security deposit. for one night, we pay.a $350 USD deposit. The customer service person said it'd be paid right back after the stay. We had hours not represented correctly. We saw, 2pm checkin, 11 am checkout. it was actually 3pm check in (my partner waited for an hour outside in the cold), and 10 am checkout or they charge us. It's been almost a month, many hours on hold, trying to get my security deposit back. agoda is responsive, but they keep sending me to the aldgate's service, who has been unresponsive. They haven't responded for weeks about my deposit. I have spent over 12 hours dealing with this situation. We had our travel / stay experience under some duress from these forced rules that weren't properly set up. I want a refund for the stay. I want my $350 USD back to my bank account. This is horrible.

I am a girl staying here for 3 nights. I have two baggages which is very big. The elevator was not available and the room is on the second floor. I had to carried my bags up to stair alone until checkout the elevator still not available!!! That’s so so bad It’s hurt my body so much! I was deposit the room around £350 and I haven’t get refund yet. The room was clean. I have no complain with the room everything was okay except staff haven’t replied my email when I’m asking for refund.

Apartment had experienced a leak, en suite smelt damp, dehumidifier on full in the hall, broken beds in the corridor, no balcony despite having paid for one, filthy stairs to the room. Contacted Stay Inn apartments… no one bothered to respond/acknowledge. Dreadful!
