Convenient with nice service”

I came here an hour after i was meant to due to a delayed flight and when greeted by the worker, he was nothing but patient and willing to help, showing me now to get to Narita airport for my depature the next morning. Only flaw here is that the dormitory is large and echoey, so noise may travel. Really love the use of the space in each bunk though and the industrial design, very different.

Least relaxing nights in Japan by far”

Don't go there if you want to relax 1) These chinese girls were waking up super early and/or going to bed super late and they slammed the freaking door every single time they entered or left the bathroom. They spent hours loudly going back and forth in the bathroom. I tried to show them how to gently close a door but it didn't change anything. 2) Second night of my stay, these two australian brothers were there and getting drunk AF downstairs. As the younger brother was getting drunker, he kept coming upstairs in the room's bathroom to puke his life out. In the process, he kept moaning in increasingly scary ways. Eventually he fell asleed sitting on the toilet and puked everywhere repeatedly, periodically waking upand moaning again. At some point I went downstairs to get his brother to take care of him. Two drunken brothers loudly arguing and puking until 5 am!!!

Great stay for backpackers and solo travelers”

Friendly service, Location(transportation), Value for money

It was a great experience for my first "capsule" stay. The place is conveniently located just 2 minutes walk from Semazu Keikyu Line station and about 15 minutes walk from Oimachi JR station. 24 hours McDonald's and Japanese restaurants all within short walking distance. Comfortable and tidy bed. Separate shared toilet and shower room is clean and tidy. Owner and staffs are very friendly and helpful, they speak fluent English and even offered to help me purchase some stuffs online using Japanese website. It was during New Year so owner has prepared some traditional Japanese for guests and a small bar is available at the lobby for people from around the world gather together. There's Xbox 360 and the lobby area and guests are playing games together before they rest. Overall, a fantastic concept of ArtnSHELTER.

Great for backpackers”

Location between two train stations and a pleasant walking street through Shinagawa, with really easy access to Haneda Airport. The neighborhood is very quiet and there aren't many restaurants nearby, but that's not a big deal if you're out all day sightseeing. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Portable wifi for rent at only 400 yen/day (much cheaper than getting it at the airport). The dorm is bare bones. Noise carries and the owners should consider installing insulation to lessen the noise. Other than that, it's an interesting space to stay in for Tokyo.

Nice place, awful roommates”

The location is right by the train station which is convenient & in a quiet neighborhood by a shrine. The building has a modern feel with concrete, glass, and wood as its main building materials. Guests are required to grab a pillow cover, duvet cover, and sheets on their way into the dorm style rooms to cover the mattress. The beds are clean which is nice but it was a bit difficult to put the duvet cover on. The girls in my room kept leaving the room door open even though there is a key lock for the room... what's the point of having a lock if they keep the door open!? This really bothered me and I wished the staff would check more or remind guests to LEAVE THE DOOR CLOSED. I woke up in the morning to find the door opened... again. Someone in the next door room/bed also didn't turn off their alarm in the morning and it kept ringing for about 15 minutes before it finally went off... Staff was cool and friendly, but idk if I'd stay again due to my experience with the other guests. Don't know if I was just unlucky...

Good location but not reccomended for busy travellers”

I pre-paid 2 nights but asked for a cancellation upon the first day check-in because of a sudden change of plans. I was fine with losing my money for the first night but hoped to talk about a refund for the second night. The manager was absent while I was there and I was never contacted afterwards despite leaving my details behind. The location was good, not far from a small station that takes you to nearby Shinagawa Station and Haneda Airport. The 3rd floor bathroom was out of tissues and a bit unclean. Other guests switched their dirty sheets with my clean ones but the staff was kind about giving me new ones. Ample space for luggage at ground floor and a lot of sitting space. Overall, very decent hostel in a good location, however lack of response from management was a bit disappointing.

Good location but noisy and not suitable for early-sleeper”

Only a few minutes walk from Samezu station(Keikyu Line), easy to find. Make sure to bring towels as not provided. Loud voices of the guests last until very late at night, then also inside of the building even after midnight. The voices echo the entire passageway when the guests talk outside of the room, which woke me up several times and impeded me from sleeping well.

Horrible. Loud. Small. Stuffy. OVERPRICED.”

Pro: nothing Con: Painful mattresses, loud, cheap bed frames falling apart, stuffy, no ventilation, loud, near nothing, so expensive. I have been in Japan for a month, Tokyo for several weeks and have never been to such a miserable hostel. This was $48USD for one night in a four person "dorm" that was only separated from the huge floor of other sleepers by 1/2" plywood wall that didn't even go all the way to the ceiling. I have stayed in 1000 yen capsule hostels that were 10 times morw comfortable than this. It was awful. I only stayed here to be close to Kawasaki for the Kanamara festival the next day. Also the lockers aren't assigned so anyone can take multiple lockers. There were probably 30 or 40 lockers for 30 needs and none were available or if they were they were broken. The bathrooms are designed so that all the doors open inward and the space is limited so you have to climb on the toilet to open the door to exit. Horrible place. Cannot believe what they charge.
