Fire on site at 7am meant we could not use the swimming g pool at 10 am, as apparently the fire team would not let them.in the chemical store . Disappointed as we only booked thus hotel due to swimming pool. Staff were lovely. Gave us free coffee, muffins and waived the car park fees . As we had a VW transporter and it would not fit u der car park barrier, they let us park in staff car park . Very li d, friendly & helpful staff..

The hotel was overbooked”

We arrived at hotel pretty late because our train was cancelled. We tried to call the hotel several times to let them know we are still coming, but as usual no one pick up the phone. Upon arriving at the hotel after a long day and cancelled train, we were notified that the hotel was overbooked and they don’t have the room that we booked (a family room for 4 adult). Which was upsetting because we were very tired. We were offered a night at the other Marriott in the city (newer hotel) without guarantee that we can have the second night, this means that we might have to move back to this hotel the second day. We didn’t want to do this as we traveled with big luggage. Finally, we asked that we don’t have to get that specific type of room, they then agreed to give us 2 rooms in different floor. The room was ok and clean although the furniture was little bit old. Location is really convenient, it’s close to the shopping areas.

Lovely but dated”

We enjoyed our stay. The staff are lovely and the breakfast was superb. We did have a few issues. Wifi was not free unless you became a member, which I did and still could not join the wifi. After trying for some time to get through to reception and the concierge; housekeeping finally helped us by sending someone up. He said he would organise it for us from the front desk but this didnt happen. The TV also didnt work and the same gentleman apologised and just said 'yes, I'm afraid the internet channels dont work'. And that was all that could be done. The room was nice but the balcony (which you couldn't access for safety reasons) was rusting away and pretty grim. There was a layer of dust on the tea tray and the decor was very dated. But the shower was brilliant and the location is lovely.

Lack of free wifi in rooms is outrageous, the decor is unfortunately quite tired and needs a much needed refresh. The elevators take an absolute age, there's not enough to service a hotel of that size. Staff were nice and welcoming.

The hotel was very central, which was the only 5 star rating. Disappointed with the staff; not only did they almost made me pay dounle for the room, they definitely double charged on my card. Lucky I went through my bills thoroughly. Rooms were big but condition of toilet were bad with shower head and bath tub rusted through.

Worst hotel experience… ”

My experience at your hotel was abysmal. The staff are unwelcoming and tried to triple charge us for the room we already pre-paid for. The man at the front desk was very difficult he didn’t really know what he was doing on the till. I feel like training is definitely needed for a few members of staff to help improve improve the customer experience at the front desk. After spending way too long at the front desk we got in the hotel elevator to floor four. Only to be greeted by the waft of sewage. To think the trauma was over, this was a huge mistake I entered the hotel room only to yet again be greeted by the waft of sewage this time coming out of the air vent which I couldn’t turn off, which also kept me up all night. Once we decided to leave the hotel the following morning your staff tried to get again charge us for the room we just stayed in following that, it took 45 minutes to check out which should’ve taken us the better part two minutes I was very embarrassed very ashamed and I will not be returning to this hotel ever again.

Great location but Marriott needs some TLC”

Firstly let’s be clear. The staff are lovely and the hotel is in a prime location in the centre of Bristol. The room we had was a good size too and was clean. However the hotel itself is looking tired now and dated. And the 3 lifts seem to have a mind of their own stopping at floors with no one on. The pool is small and the sauna an steam room tiny too. The gym facility isn’t too bad for a hotel with mostly new machines. Unfortunately for the hotel during our stay the water went off the following day to the whole hotel so not one person could shower, use a tap or flush more then once. Luckily we left that morning but give Marriott their dues they refunded 50% and waiverd the £17 parking charge. If asked if I would stay their again if I went back to Bristol I wouldn’t. But your not fussed about a tired looking hotel and location is what you want you would be happy with it.
