Average bungalows in Phu Quoc”
Thanh Kim Nga is your average bungalow type establishment on Phu Quoc. At $35 a night for the standard bungalow it isn't the cheapest option, and I think that it costs less for walk-ins. The bungalows are a very short walk from a nice bit of long beach, although be warned, the lane to the beach is awash with construction debris so flipflops needed, not much can really be done about this as construction is going on all over Phu Quoc. The bungalow itself was nice, the furniture a bit dated, but cosy and confortable. The biggest plus for us was the outside veranda with flynets and a hammock, great for chilling in the evening with a rum and coke. The free breakfast was great, particularly the banana pancakes! you only get one food item and one drink, but these are more than big enough to fill you up. The staff are very friendly but we did have a few issues with their organisational skills. Firstly on our first night, our pre-booked and paid for bungalow had been let to someone else so we got a room with a shared bathroom, this was fine (well apart from the bathroom which had a broken toilet) but having to unpack and repack was a bit of an annoyance. Still, we got a discount on the first night and moved to our bungalow the second night. Our second issue was with booking a ferry to Rach Ghia through the hotel. We arranged the ferry on the morning before we wanted to go, got told 'no problem, we will sort it, you pay later'. We went back and paid early evening and got told we would get our tickets in the morning. At 10:30pm, we got a visit to our room to say the ferry was fully booked and we would have to go to Ha-Tien adding 3 hours onto our bus trip and journey time. We were really annoyed at this because the staff had obviously made no effort to book the ferry in the morning when we asked, so no wonder it was full when they eventually called at 10pm. Overall we were satisfied with our stay, but there may be better options on Phu Quoc for the money

Great time!”
The bungalow was very nice with a clean pool! It took us 7 minutes to walk to the beach. There are many convenient stores and the restaurants on the main street with walkable distance. The bungalow provided the car service to pick us up at the airport (one-way was free.) We had 10 adults and 1 kid. The driver was very friendly. Also, the host, Mr. Dong at the reception desk was very helpful and professional! He gave us great advices. We booked an extra car rental service for our group in two days. Our driver, Huy, was an awesome tour guy. He drove us to many different places: Bai Sao beach, fish sauce factory, pearl company, Sim wine factory and Honey factory. Besides that, we definitely loved the citronella smell in the room. The size was good with two queen beds. Four adults stayed in one room. Thank you for helping us make a great trip! We will come back the next time!

Nice but a bit boring”
I stayed here for a week which was a bit too long because it was raining most of the time with not much to do and not many people in the resort. Apart from that the room is nice and spacey with good aircon and fan, hot water (be patient), a fridge and coffee maker with free coffee and tea and a large pool. Just be careful, the pool has some steps that you can't see very well. The garden is nice but needs some attention. Internet connection was not great but worked most of the time. Didn't use the breakfast service as the restaurant looked deserted and there are plenty of options around. Tip: do not use John's travel to book your onward trip! They gave me wrong information resulting in waste of lots of money and time.

Nice place”
Apart from the bugs and mosquitoes, everything is good. Friendly staff and nearby restaurant which can provide meals directly to your room at reasonable price. Breakfast is quite boring though. The beautiful pool and the beach just 5 mins walk down the path is wonderful.

Best bang for the buck (dong)!”
Good location 4-5 mins to the beach, Irish bar across the street, cheap places to eat nearby. Nice garden and pool area, bungalows are roomy with porch that has a table and chairs and a hammock.. Quiet, the only thing you might hear is other guests. It isn't new but for the price you can't complain, not quite as beautiful as the photos but close. It is priced at the low end for this area and for the amount of space you it is a bargain!

Over 100m walk to the beach, which is acceptable for the price. Staff are very friendly and helpful. I requested some form of room set up for my parents' anniversary with the booking, and parents seemed to be happy with what they saw.

Good location”
Generally our stay was very accomodating and we enjoyed ourselves. We found the bed mattresses to be excruciatingly hard & took some getting used to. For the price of staying these you would hope they could invest in some shampoo or body wash or even better mosquito coils which would save the guests from the never ending mosquito attacks (these were for most part expected for the hot climate). It appears to be a family-run business but it would be such a nice touch to get to know the owners or the family as the only interaction guests would get would be when there wa a sale to be made such as a hire of motorbike (price seemed to change every day!!) or other services. More of a friendly approach would add such a warm feel to this place however this is Vietnam after all where tourists come and go I suppose. Overall we'd stay here again mainly due to the good location.

We had very good time during our stay here. We liked the small garden they had.They also had mini-mart in front which was very convenience to buy some waters or snacks whenever we needed them. However they were not clear while helping us with directions same as many people we met on the island. But we enjoyed being lost anyway. All the furniture worked fine.

Good option for couples”
Good things are: friendly english speaking staff, nice and green inner yard, good location But rooms aren't that clean - we've spotted around 4-6 cockroaches, not scary but still. Wi-fi signal is too low, so if you are staying in far-away bungalows you'll be out of internet. Bungalows are too way close to each other, so please keep your windows curtained :D

Read nice reviews about this hotel and decided to book it. The "fun" started right away when they forgot about the transfer from the airport. that was booked both ways. When we asked about the return transfer the lady at the reception told us we have to pay extra although it was included into the hotel price. I specifically asked about the transfer the day before, and in the morning on departure day that we need a transfer at 3pm. They agreed. At 3 pm at the reception they told me that their minibus is somewhere in north of the island! After harsh conversation with the manager they called us a taxi and paid for it. About the houses: We booked 2 bungalows. We had to ask to change one house, because there was mold in the cupboard and awfull smell in the room. Both houses had problems with bed linen. Sometimes they just forgot to put new one blanket cases and pillow cases. The location: Hotel is located not far from the beach, but you will have to literally go along dirty road full of garbage on the sides. The pictures on the advertisement are misleading. Hotel doesn't have their own beach chairs with umbrellas. Nearby there is a nice shop and the cafe across the street. Food: Breakfasts are ok, one can ask for omlet, the girls are cooking it right there. Bike rent: easy to rent a bike from the reception. Rent is possible even for half a day. Staff: Staff hardly speaks English. If they say "OK" to you, it doesn't mean they understood you.

Great value for money”
Nice place. Had everything one could want as set up nicely. It’s not 5 star but the price reflects that. Only complaint is when we booked through agoda it said motorcycle rental was included and when we got there it only meant there was a discount for the rental which was misleading.

Very nice bungalows for the price, a short walk from beach. Run by a lovely family that really made you feel at home. Very relaxing but not the right spot if your looking for nightlife.

Quiet poolside bungalow”
I loved my short stay in this little poolside bungalow. It's basic yet I found it very comfortable. I slept amazing under the mosquito net. Bed, sheets and pillow were great. Pool was clean and cool, beach was a 5 minute walk away and the staff were super friendly. I opted for no breakfast as there lots of good choices around.

Laid back and relaxing days close to the beach”
We had a great time staying at Thanh Kim Ngan Bungalows. The Standard Bungalow we initially booked was actually not on the same site but a few steps further down towards the beach in the partner compound named Thanh Kim Nga Bungalows (same name with on 'n' less) which apparently has the same owner. Unfortunately, our Standard Bungalow was faced towards a small cemetery which was kind of creepy. After one spooky night and asking for changing the bungalow, we were lucky enough to receive an upgrade to one of the Superior Bungalows in the original Thanh Kim Ngan Bungalows compound. And an upgrade it was! The Superior Bungalow was so much more beautiful and cleaner than the Standard Bungalow and has both TV and AC (although both were not important for us and we didn't use them). The best thing about the Superior Bungalow was the open air bathroom, partly roofed and surrounded by a small zen garden and walls to protect your privacy. Having a shower under palm trees after a relaxing day at the beach gives you the ultimate holiday feeling :) The staff is really nice too and doesn't hesitate to assist you with every little issue you might have or give you really helpful advice. My fiancee caught a cold during our trip and was offered to have free and incredibly strengthening ginger tea whenever she wanted. Nice touch :) The bungalows are not right at the beach but on a quiet spot between the road and the waterfront. It is only a short 2 mins walk down to the beach, though. A couple of nice seafood places, beach bars, and restaurants for every need are also just a few minutes away.

Staff were happy to provide anything anytime , heard me scream and immediately came to the room to remove a spider ! Late night swimming not a problem here they turned the lights on just for us and we stayed 2 nights really worth the money and the beach is minutes away !

Nice but a bit confused staff”
A five minutes walk from the beach, on a not very pleasant road, the hotel has no chairs or space on the beach which makes the beach-life a little tricky. The staff i very friendly and very confused, we never got what we ordered for breakfast. The rooms are well-kept and the surroundings are a mix of nice restaurants, dogs, bikes and longtermstay-tourists.
