Location is Perfect!”
This hotel is located literally in front of the train and bus station. Very convenient if you will be Takayama-based and will have daily commute using the train and Nohi bus. It is also few miles away from the Old town and has nearby FamilyMart. You can also have an optional breakfast and this hotel has a public bath which is perfect if you will be staying here in winter season.

The best thing about this hotel is the location. It's accross Takayama Station and a walking distance to Old Town, Takayama Jinya, the morning market and to most restaurants. The room is quite huge and very clean. Staff were really nice.

Convenient and clean”
The Washington Hotel was a very short distance from the JR Station. Hida Takayama is small enough that the hotel was convenient for everything in town. (We went to a couple of places that were about 30 minutes walk but there was no closer accommodation and we would have stayed in town anyway.) Our room and the public spaces were clean. Breakfast was not included but the charge was modest. It is a served breakfast and I suggest ordering the night before to make sure they prepare it for you. You have a choice of Japanese or American breakfast. My wife and I each had the Japanese breakfast and we thought it was quite good. The only downside is that there is an extra charge of 300¥ for coffee if you order the Japanese breakfast. They are strict with the 10am checkout time but happy to hold your luggage until you leave.

Near JR Takayama Station, Nice and comfortable”
I am happy to stay at Hida Takayama Washington Hotel Plaza. Staff is professional, we are comfortable here. Easy to travel in the city because it's near the JR Station and Nohi Bus Station. You can travel to Matsumoto or Tokyo or Kyoto Osaka by Nohi Bus. Very good. Next time, I will stay here again.

I was traveling to Takayama for only 1 night. Hida Takayama Washington Hotel offered a very good price. Breakfast was good, staff speak English also good. Room is Japan standard, really narrow.

Comfortable and newly renovated hotel”
The hotel room is small but comfortable and conveniently located opposite the JR Hida Takayama train station & bus terminal. At first it was difficult to find the hotel in the heavy snowfall as the hotel lighted signage is in Japanese. Close walking distance to sight seeing places and many eateries. There were many souvenir shops around the hotel for last minute gift buying. Its quite costly for the room size but I guess its more of paying for the hotel location and its convenience for us moving around with our baggage.

The best location, right in front of JR Takayama St and Nohi Bus St.. Small and compact rooms, typical Japanese hotel rooms, but they are clean. Inside the room you got nice beds, bath tub, toilet, towels, hot water, mini fridge, TV, pretty decent amenities overall. Perfect to stay if you are going to visit Shirakawago. Be sure to check Takayama Oldtown just behind it and the local hida beef cuisine.

Good option near JR station”
In front of JR Takayama Station and long distance bus terminal to all spots of Hida area. Convenience store locates within 1 minute walk in which light Japanese snacks and rice-box (bento) can be found even at late night. Walking distance (15 to 20 min) to major sight-seeing spots including the morning markets, old town, the river, and the main street. You can find restaurants of different Japanese styles (e.g. beef, hotpot, noodles, bbq...) and different scales nearby. Room size is acceptable that our two 24-26" baggage could be put inside without much trouble.

Good place to stay in Takayama for transition”
Very easy to find as the hotel was right opposite of the JR Takayama train station, and hence very close to the Hida Bus terminal to go to shirakawa-go and Kamikochi. Within walking distance to several restaurant that serve Hida beef. However, there are no coin operated laundry machine - need to self service at a local shop around 10 mins away. Will certainly return to stay if I drop by Ramayana.

convenient place for transition”
This is a great stop-over place as it is just one block opposite of the bus/train terminal. The place is quiet and it has a bit more space than my previous stay in a hotel in Tokyo. It is also within walking distance to the old town of hida takayama. I'd return here if it is on my travelling route.
