        Fantastic Ryokan In Central Tokyo”

Had a brilliant stay at this small traditional yet modern hotel near Ueno, Iriya and Ugisedani stations. While a 15-minute walk to Ueno/JR pass lines, we had Pasmo for the local Hibya Line at Irya 5 minutes away. Yoko, Toshi and all the staff were so friendly, accommodating and helpful that we felt right at home. Not one recommendation for restaurants or activities fell flat. Loved them all. They also took great care of all if us during our one day typhoon hideout at the hotel. We stayed in both the western and Japanese style rooms and found them very comfortable, well designed and appointed. Had the reasonable continental breakfast of toast, fruit and added yogurt beautifully presented in the communal lobby. What a treat and find of a hotel at a reasonable rate. We'll be back for sure.

        Friendly, comfortable and convenient”

The Edo Sakura is located in a lovely quiet area of old Tokyo. Close to Ueno Park, Asakura and Yanaka. The staff could not be friendlier or more helpful especially in helping newly arrived visitors to Japan. Breakfasts were delicious! The room we had was traditional Japanese style and small but arranged in a way that made it work for us. If we were to visit Tokyo again, we would not think twice about where to stay, it would be back to Edo Sakura. Thanks Yoko and staff.

        Delightful”

A very well presented, conveniently located (just one metro stop from Ueno Station on the Hibiya line). The staff were very friendly and helpful from the start explaining all the differences between a normal western room and the traditional room we had. The futon mattress was quite comfortable but an extra mattress was offered for comfort if needed. Breakfast options were good, either western and Japanese style and the daily conducted tea ceremony was fascinating. Highly recommend.

Room and bathroom clean and in good working order, traditional mats a bit thin, good location, walking distance to local and JR trains (under 1km). Elevators to rooms, no need to drag luggage up stairs. Helped us to check in early. Very happy customers, would definitely stay again.

        Highly recommended, would stay again”

During our trip we stayed in 3 lovely hotels, but Edo Sakura was our favourite of them all. It's a little out of the way, but once you've figure out where it is then it is a nice walkable distance from the station. The hotel itself is wonderful in appearance, and so tranquil. They offer a tea ceremony, which we did not have time to take part in, but would do if we returned. They also sell some nice tea cups, and yukata of the same type that they leave in your room (my husband enjoyed wearing his so much that he bought one). Upon arrival we were given a drink and a warm welcome, and our bags were taken to our room for us. The room was wonderful (if what you want is a traditional ryokan!). The staff even told us we could have extra mattresses if we found the traditional beds too hard (we did not need them but appreciated the offer). The room had extras like a fridge and hair dryer, and a few bathroom extras. Breakfast choices were nice, and we enjoyed them.

        Everything was good”

I had really good time at the accommodation. Everything was preety good. I can go to Asakusa easily from there. Of course station as well. And I took a private bath, it was so nice. They prepared hot water for me and everything for me. It was just ¥500. I’ll recommend The Edo Sakura to my friends.

Excellent all round. Great quiet location 10 minutes to Underground Station. ”

Staff are friendly helpful and knowledgeable. The small hotel is immaculate. We ended up staying twice. On our arrival in Tokyo and booking again on our return to Tokyo before heading home. If you want to be out of the Madness but close to the City this is the place. Jane and Paul NZ

Very good Hotel with "family feeling"”

Superb hotel if you want the traditional Ryokan style. Rooms are clean and sleeping on futon and tatami mats was much better than expected (even though I have a history of back problems). Excellent facilities and a common room to eat food from local shops. Private bath is like a private onsen that can be rented for an hour. Super! Personnel is very helpful and answers any questions. Daily tea ceremony free of charge and good breakfast at a reasonable price (try the rice menue). We stayed in several other hotels in Japan, but this made us feel right at home.

        Lovely ryokan in Tokyo ”

Sweet traditional ryokan in Tokyo. A 10 minute walk from subway station. The staff all spoke English and were super friendly. The breakfast was delicious. The tea ceremony an added treat!

Lovely staff and wonderful Japanese rooms”

A little walk from the station but very easy to get around. Staff were excellent with recommendations and generally very helpful. Lovely clean and spacious Japanese rooms - very easy with the kids on the tatami mats. Would definitely stay here again.

        Charming Ryokan”

This inn was my first stop in Japan and my introduction to Japanese hospitality. All was wonderful including the very helpful staff. A big thank you to all.

        Nice Quiet and Friendly”

We stayed at a traditional Japanese triple room. It was clean with friendly staff. Breakfast was good for the value. The hotel is away from the main road but has easy access to subway and convenient store.

Located in peaceful local residence area”

The ryokan is located in local residence area which is 5 - 10 minutes walk from Iriya station. Nearest station exit is A4. The area is peaceful and quiet. We booked a standard double room so the room is quite small but it’s ok for us with 2 young children because husband and I are of typical Asian size. Staff were very helpful and speak English well.

        Beautiful hotel”

Staff extremely polite and accommodating, extra mattress and pillow supplied for toddler. Elevators for ease. Walking distance to train stations and eateries but not to any real sights. Clean with everything you would need. Only downside is the futons were very thin compared to other traditional home stays in Japan we have done.

Nice hotel, friendly staff but a bit small”

The hotel was really nice, room was clean and the staff is very friendly and willing to help. The hotel is a bit far from the train station but the staff is always helpful in trying to get a taxi. The rooms are clean and simple but a bit too small for a long stay.
