Warmth & Feel at home ”

Hide San, the owner and his friend, Madonna Suga, are very good host. We promised with them that we will go back to visit them at Ibusuki again for sure because of their hospitality and warm welcome. Kawakyu is a small local ryokan that you can touch in the Japapnese traditional. Location is not near JR station but you can take bus from JR station around 5-10 minutes. Sometime you can request Hide San to pick up from JR station, he is very kind person. He also drove us around Ibusuki to see a lot attraction places which are awsome. This time we did not try on meals but we will try for sure next time for Japanese traditional meals at the Ryokan. Highly recommend to stay here for your vacation, you will love everything here as we do. See you Hide San & Madonna Suka

Highly recommended. Like old friends”

Very friendly and helpful host who treated us like old friends who meet after a long time. Glad to meet and have dinner with host Oyama's family at local eatery with authentic Japanese food which were different from the usual fare at big restaurants and fast food joints. The price was reasonable and we had a great evening together. We appreciate his gesture in driving us around Ibusuki during his free time in the afternoon, going to some places that regular tourists do not go. Memorable experience of Japanese hospitality. He recommended us and even drove us to Chiran Peace Museum as he was bringing his three year daughter and family for photo taking in Kagoshima. We also hop by to visit Samurai Houses in Chiran. To top it all, he drove our luggage to our hotel in Kagoshima so that we did not have to drag them around in Chiran. Although the ryokan is slightly off the central area, it is within walking distance and the warmth and graciousness of the host more than made up for it. Great to know and meet Oyama and his family and staff.

Great homely stay”

It was a most memorable and great stay at Ryokan Kawakyu! The owner Mr Hideaki Oyama is a fantastic host who makes sure that all his guests are well taken care of right from the start when he picks you up from the train station.He is very dedicated to his profession and ensures that all his guests needs are met.He'll also make recommendations to places of interests and even helps to check up the ways and means of getting to those places. He even introduced a local eatery when I got to eat the best chawanmushi and satsumaage!!I'll definitely recommend this place for those who are visiting Ibusuki!

Beat hotel for the price in ibuski”

The owner of the Ryokan is very friendly and good english speaker! He introduced some sight seeing, tourist spots and restaurants that were very satisfying! Onsen in the Ryokan has two type- one is for 1 person, the other is for 2-3 people! Onsen is not the fancy one, however, it's clean and traditional japanese type with very hot water. You can enjoy your private onsen(allow to lock the door) with the water which you can adjust temperature! Breakfast was very nice enough to pay the price arleady included! It's away from the train station and port around 10 minutes by foot! It has smoking room for the smoker. If you are not the smoker, please make a reservation non-smoking room!

Ryokan located on the edge of a canal, quiet and peaceful. Traditionnal rooms, really clean, the sleaping is prepared during our diner (restaurant outside). Good speed wifi. Onsen side, two private baths interiors available The whole thing is simple and pleasant. Grilled hot fish for breakfast. One of the best on for my occidental taste. The owner is friendly and very helpfull, speak a good english. Good advice. Really not a luxus Ryokan but pretty good choice in this category.

Warming stay in most unique onsen city”

The train station is a 10 minute walk away but the hotel is perfectly located for a unique onsen experience, but still is in a nicly quiet spot of the town. The staff takes all time helping with questions and requests and the overall Ryokan experience was really good.

Ok hotel with difficult driving access/parking”

Small family hotel good for a short stay. Drivers be warned - access to the hotel is through a very narrow footpath beside a canal and limited parking space.

屋主回覆電郵超級快。勁有義氣，我好臨時先通知佢要接車，佢都無問題。傾傾下佢知道我租唔到單車，佢又知道我要去知林島，佢就車左我去。同理屋主好好傾，佢d 英文真係ok, 好順口既英文，會分享有咩地方好，咩時間去好。 屋主太太英文係“有限公司“，不過佢好盡力表達，同勁nice係咁幫手。 呢度好值得住，可以認識下日本家庭既生活，try try 一泊2食，因為週邊係無野食買嫁。記住佢係hostel 咁，唔可以用d 高級既民宿比較。

很喜歡日式房間，浸浴的環境也很棒，店主亦十分可愛，雖然離指宿港/JR有段距離，但就性價比來說很值得來住
