Exceptional”
A lovely hotel in a beautiful location. We had a balcony room on the second floor which was extremely clean and comfortable. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. A delicious breakfast, with lots of choice, was served daily. There are three restraunts in the hotel, we only tried the Rock Garden which served good food at very reasonable prices. The Tea Room served a nice selection of cakes and afternoon teas. We will definately return!

A wonderful break”
A magical location with views across the bay. Top steaks at Rock Garden and excellent Mexican street food at Bohu. Both destination restaurants so be sure to book ahead. The staff are super friendly and excellent service. Special shout out to Marco. He’s a gem!!

Clean and comfortable with good facilities”
We stayed for a winter weekend break. Our room was compact but nicely decorated, warm, and well appointed (although, being in the annex, we looked right into next door). The hotel is around 30 mins walk to the town centre, or slightly more via the lovely cliff path. A free shuttle is available (inc weekend evenings) which was great. Service was friendly but haphazard - likewise, food was mixed. If paying summer rates I’d expect this to be a lot better. We enjoyed the nice small pool and very good sauna.

Hard to review”
It’s hard to review this hotel because there are good and bad points. We know another member of the Handpicked Hotel group, Norton House in Edinburgh, and it is far superior. On the plus side, the staff are friendly and willing to help, but, they seem rather undertrained; and, where we were in an annexe room that was adjacent to the staff quarters, we had to endure a full night of zero sleep owing to staff members sitting outside talking, laughing, playing music, the WHOLE night, from 5pm till 6am next morning. It was terrible. We didn’t know what to do, especially as the phone in our room didn’t work. When the same thing seemed to start again 2 nights later, after we had gone to bed, we had to get up and dress and walk down the hill to reception to ask them to make it stop. Which to their credit, they did, and we were not disturbed again by that, but, on Saturday night there is additional noise nuisance from the Fermain Tavern across the road. Our annexe room 44 was just adequate, but too small, and no air conditioning. We actually never got into bed, we slept on top with the window open. The distance from the main building did not bother us but would be an issue for others. There are 3 restaurants with good food, one is in the annexe ‘Buho’. The menus never changed, and if you are vegetarian you will struggle a bit. The one good thing about the annexe is that it’s near the road so handy for local buses. The hotel offers a minibus shuttle service to the airport and into town. However, overall, I would say, if you are offered a room in the annexe, don’t take it, go to a different hotel.

Disappointing room in the “annex””
I paid £130 for a very small stuffy room here. I have stayed in the main hotel before a loved it. This was not good. The room overlooked someone’s bedroom , you could see right in and vice versa. No fridge And a long way from the main hotel if you fancied a swim. The hotel restaurants were also both closed!

Great location, lovely staff.”
This is my second stay at Fermain Valley, it my husband’s first. If he likes something then I know it’s good. We will definitely return next year, as I continue to trace my family history on the island. We love the coastal walk to St. Peter Port and the fact the hotel has not one excellent rest, but three! We ate in all of them over the course of our stay - so convenient.

Wonderful and very accommodating!”
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Fermain Valley hotel. There just isn't one negative thing to say. From the shuttle service to and from town, airport, port to the nicely appointed rooms, complete with water, booze and treats, the accommodating staff and the incredible natural surroundings.... wow! Treat yourself to a nice walk to the beach and dine at the tiny cafe right in the water. Doesn’t get nicer than this! Enjoy!

Good location and comfortable stay.”
Fermain valley hotel is in a good spot - coastal walk to the town if you are energetic or a short drive. It is also easy to get to some great restaurants and many of the 'sights'. The hotel was very clean & the bed comfortable. Nice selection of tea/coffee in the room. The pool small but warm & adequate for a quick dip. Breakfast a good selection of fruit, pastries & cereal with cooked to order available (although the toast was always soft). Cons- We stayed in a Gold room which had a useful balcony that was quiet as the bar was not busy, but the room was very small and I don't think we've ever had a smaller bathroom in a hotel. The advertised fresh fruit was very poor - a soft yellow apple, a pear & a satsuma with mould. Gardens pretty overgrown. Aircraft noise a bit of a problem in the morning & afternoon as the hotel is directly beneath the flight path, but no flights after about 8:00pm. Quite a tricky turning out of the hotel onto the main road. On balance a good choice.

Very good hotel”
This is a really nice hotel. It is beautiful set on a hill spiralling down into the forested Fermain Valley. There is a beach at the foot of the valley. I was staying with my 2 year old daughter. The staff were lovely with her and we enjoyed our walk down from our accommodation by the restaurant Buha down for breakfast and dinner to the main old hotel further down the hill. Check in was difficult due to parking, the hotel being on a hill and comprising different buildings, and trying to use a buggy. I think the hotel is most suited to couples - indeed there was a lovely couple there on honeymoon - but we really enjoyed our time there and would certainly return in future.

Fabulous hotel”
We had a very enjoyable stay - the staff were very efficient and very friendly. The room was comfortable, clean and spacious. It was our first visit to Guernsey but will certainly return and would definitely stay at the Fermain again.

Lovely hotel”
We really enjoyed our stay. Our room while a little on the small side was spotlessly clean, the decor was really nice and the balcony was a great size with excellent views. There is still and sparkling water in the room along with lovely biscuits. The only real negatives are that the room doesn’t have air-conditioning or a mini fridge. We had dinner in Ocean restaurant which was lovely, the bar staff made excellent cocktails and the breakfast choices were great and all freshly cooked. There are also two other restaurants to choose from. It is set in beautifully landscaped gardens plenty of places to sit and relax and a direct path down to a lovely little bay with the beach and the beach café. The parking situation isn’t ideal as there is limited parking And hotel guests do not get any priority over the parking. I do however highly recommend this hotel and will definitely be returning next year.

Guernsey in Style”
Location id perfect for water lovers and is very serene. Lovely views, tree-lined approach to the hotel. Lovely food, clean rooms and sufficient room supplies - teas, coffee etc. Very helpful and attentive staff. It was great that a decanter of sherry was replenished in each room as part of the room supplies. Very lovely experience. If I was to go to Guernsey again, I’ll certainly consider staying there again.

Excellent hotel, great staff and fantastic food ”
We stayed here for four nights and couldn't fault the staff or the food for our stay. There was a large group of us and they did everything they could to accomadate us. Highly recommend this hotel and their restaurants, the food was great - make sure book in advance though! We stayed in gold rooms which were nice and got little extras but the bath is small and could do with a refresh! Overall though couldn't recommend more and would definitely stay again.

Very pleasant hotel”
Very pleasant hotel. Much nicer to be in the main building than the annexe, which is a good distance from the hotel up a hill. Very pleasant location out of town.

Very good”
Nice hotel and a pleasant room with a view of the sea. Ocean Restaurant was closed although the web site said it was only closed till the end of May. Food at Buho was poor but the steaks at Rock Garden were excellent. Parking difficult when restaurant full. Cinema advertised on website bu doesn't exist
