Unplan Kagurazaka quickly became our "home" during our time in Tokyo. After long days walking around the city, I often looked forward to getting back to the hostel and crawling into one of the most comfortable beds I had during my whole time in Japan. Bathroom was always kept clean, never had any problems with the other guests in the dorm room, and always felt safe. I loved that the hostel also doubled as a cafe/bar. The main lounge area was a great place to chill out, and one of my local friends even told me it was her favorite lunch spot when she lived in the neighborhood. Staff was great! My friends and I did an izakaya (pub/bar) tour with two staff members and we had an amazing time hanging out with them and exploring the neighborhood. The location of Unplan Kagurazaka is a bit more residential, but that added to the positive feeling of being at home. We were within close distance to two subway stations, and it was always an easy ride to the main areas of Shibuya or Shinjuku. Definitely staying again in the future!

An amazing stay at UNPLAN!!”
I really loved my stay at UNPLAN. I was here for 7 days and it felt like home. The hostel was kept very clean, the beds were comfy with lots of space, nice showers, toilets etc. The cafe area downstairs was a nice place to hangout and grab some good food/coffee. You also get free breakfast in the morning :D. All the staff were amazing, super helpful and very nice. I will definitely be back!!

Amazing atmosphere; good decor, friendly staff. An affordable taxi ride from Shinjuku for nightlife but a more relaxing area than Shinjuku itself. Bunks (especially bottom bunk) have great privacy. Good food. Immaculately clean. Only downsides: breakfast is spartan, lack of places to pack/unpack luggage -- but still overall great. Was planning on staying elsewhere in Tokyo later in the trip but cancelled to stay here longer.

5 mins walking distance to the railway station, convenient stores are just at the corner of the street. It locates in a residential district where is a bit quiet but safe. Nice and friendly staff who can speak fluent English. The bathrooms are really really clean. They have a lift in the hostel which is good for heavy-packed travelers. Appreciate that there is a dedicated area for smokers and the common area is big enough to socialize.

Good staff and atmosphere”
I really enjoyed my time spent at Unplan. The place wasn't too hard to find, though it is a bit out of the way. Checking in was easy and the staff was nice. They had a cafe downstairs where you can get food and drinks. They also have a very nice rooftop. The beds were comfortable and the amenities were clean. Space-wise, I thought I had a decent amount of space, though some beds near the windows seem to have more space to put their things. They had a lot of great events at Unplan, I participated in the bar-hopping one. To note, this event isn't paid for by Unplan, everyone had to put out their portion. We went to a karaoke bar at the end of the night. It was super fun getting to know other people staying at the hostels. I highly recommend this place!

Bed space in dormitory was so limited.”
Very inexpensive, clean, and staff is friendly. The bed space in dormitory was so small and choking. I was on the lower bed and there was someone up. There were vacant beds on the higher places or other section, and I preferred to sleep there where no one was near me. But anyway the price was very low ... Free breakfast service was available from 8 a.m. Unfortunately, I checked out at 7:30.

Would be nice for some variety with the breakfast, and the cafe was delicious but pretty expensive. Overall great stay though!

Not a bad location. Friendly staff. New building with good facilities - functional bunks and shared showers. Complementary breakfast nice but rental towels - would prefer the other way around.

"Amazing””
Very clean. No need to worry about sharing a toilet as it is very clean. It only takes 3 minutes to walk until Kagurazaka Metro Station. I can guarantee that you will not be disappointed if stay here.

I like the location. Walking around the neighborhood with so many choices of shops. There is a beautiful temple close by. Very convenient with walking distance from metro line. The staff are helpful. The free breakfast was very limited.

Nice capsule but,,”
Capsule is nice, staff are kind and like the interior with small personal locker! However, it was unfortunate that when I was there, there was a group of 3 people talking loud in the bed area around 12am!! I understand that they are excited to meet new people during their trips but talking loud at 12am ish in bedroom area is not appropriate. Similar to other capsule hotels, it will be nice if they can remind about quietness in the bedroom area. Other than that, hotel itself is nice

Pros: friendly staff and ambience is great Cons: limited private rooms for families and couples. Hope there's free flow of coffee in the morning.

Uncomfortable ”
I chose a dorm room, I had already stayed in dorm rooms around Japan, but unfortunately this was the most uncomfortable. Smell was bad even though the window was constantly open, there was not enough room for any kind of luggage, and the locked space did not even fit my laptop. The beds were not really private, the walls between beds did not reach the ceiling, and I could constantly hear my neighbour snoring. the curtain did not cover at all the bed and the light would be super bright in my face from very early morning. There were not enough toilets or showers for the large amount of people hosted in the structure. The laundry services was shared with the staff, and there were only 2 laundry machines servicing 3 floors. Staff was really nice, and spoke really good English, and were really polite. Complimentary breakfast was white toast and boiled eggs, and bad watery coffee, not impressed. Wouldn't really recommend this place.
