Upon arriving at the JR Wakayama Station, look for exit and you'll passby shopping mall, MIO which is above the Wakayama Station & follow signboard to Hotel Granvia Wakayama. Go inside the Hotel Granvia and take the lift to level 6; its the lobby for First Cabin Wakayama. There's a small security box in the cabin. Towel, pyjamas, toothbrush all provided. Flatscreen tv with earphone plug-in located next to bed so you won't disturb other residents. I love the public bath, super comfortable hot spring with two cubicle for public bathing and properly equipped with emulsion, toner and hair dryer. Location wise is the best one can find. It's link to Kintetsu Mall and just next to JR Wakayama Station (and MIO) and in front, there's a bus station where you can take a bus to Wakayama Castle/Park or 5 minutes walking distance to famous Ide Shoten (Wakayama Ramen) or take Wakayama Electric Railway to Kishi Station famous for cute cat train station (free for JR PASS holders, or 710 yen both ways)

First Cabin is a great place to stay on a budget. I would definitely recommend spending the extra money to get the First Class or Business or whatever the top rank is - almost feels like you actually have a room, rather than just a bed. First Cabin is a funny place - lots of amenities, a very nice bathroom area, almost like you're actually at a spa. But in the cabin itself, you're hearing all the noise of everyone's snoring, everyone's alarm clocks, and the lights from the corridor (or from buttons inside the cabin) prevent it from ever being properly dark enough to have an easier time getting to sleep. Also, while the Wakayama Station location has a nice Japanese bath, and that's a nice amenity, there are no private shower stalls! I really would have liked to shower in the morning in private, rather than doing it out in the open among other naked dudes. But the location was good. Located right near the station and the main dept stores & only 25 min walk to the castle and museums.

This is my second time and I am truly impressed with the service standard. The staff was friendly and helpful. The cabin room was clean and amenities provided were awesome. Location is fabulous, beng a minute’s walk away from Wakayama Station, where the bus terminal is also located. Walking distance (~2km) to Wakayama Castle. I would definitely recommend this place.

It is within 1min walking distance from Wakayama Station. There are also bus services (to Wakayama Castle, Aeon Mall). There is a 7-11 in the train station. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Cabin was clean, the bath and toilet areas were clean too. Amenities are provided, very thoughtful. I will definitely book this place again next time.

Be ready to be surprised. My first experience with First Cabin was at Kansai Airport and I would give that one a 5*. Here all was good except there were no shower stall as pointed out in a review before this. I did not really understand it but really, there were 2 stalls with low pipe , stool and bucket/dish. But since I came in mid week there were no one else, I took a shower naked (after ready up on 'how to') and enjoyed the spa. I did not soak in the spa at Kansai. The receptionist was professional, kept my luggage, lend me an umbrella, and let me check in early. Next time I would definitely check out first cabin again. Toiletries, tshirt and pants, slippers, shampoo, face wash, in fact you dont have to take out your own toiletries.

Better than expected”
The facilities were well-equipped and clean, with laundry machine and indoor onsen. The bed was very comfortable and I booked a first class cabin which had sufficient space for my big luggage. You can borrow a lock for your luggage as well which is very useful. The curtain gave privacy and also because there wasn’t a lot of people during my stay, it was quiet most of the time. Very near to the train station and just beside a mall. Would definitely consider First Cabin again.

First Cabin matches all the downsides of a formal hotel (cold, over-professional staff, dark serious aesthetic) with some of the chief downsides of a youth hostel (tiny cabins instead of regular-size hotel rooms, far too many other people staying in close proximity). Shared bathroom is not really ideal, either, but at least it's got a somewhat fancy aesthetic to it. And the furo (hot bath) is a nice touch - if you can manage to snag it at an hour when you don't have to be naked in front of random strangers or have to deal with them being naked in front of you. In terms of location, I guess I can't complain - it's located right at the station, inside a fancier proper hotel. Short walk to the castle, and to rent-a-car places.

Beds were comfy, cabin was clean, cozy and well equipped. staff were very helpful and accommodating. Noise from other cabin doors opening and closing can be heard easily though, so best to get free earplugs from the reception. Toilets and bathrooms are complete with all amenities needed, even stuff like make up removers and moisturizers etc. It's pretty dope for a budget hotel as it even comes with a jacuzzi. Problem is, the shower stalls (there are only two for the entire female dorm) are in the same room as the jacuzzi and are in the open. There's no lock to the door, so anyone can walk in on you buck naked while you're having a shower. Showering with anxiety was not a cool experience at all. :( I wish they can at least put some locks to that room to allow some privacy for people who are not comfortable being seen naked by others. Otherwise, it is a great hostel.

Located right next to the JR Wakayama Station. Next to a nice mall too. Convenient to get the airport limousine bus to Kansai Airport. Female public bath is too small though but during my time, it was rarely crowded.

Pros: very clean, calm atmosphere, right next to the station, hot bath and free rental PJs Cons: not dark enough for me to sleep. However I am a light sleeper. The button to switch on/off your own capsule/rooms light was bright enough to be a light! Maybe the corridor could go darker after 10/11pm as well. Because your space is white it made the small amount of light seem bright. But would still 100% recommend!!

Great staff, gave me lots of guides, maps and advice on what to do, helped me contact my next accomodation Bed was comfy and clean, enough space to stand on the bed no problem, onsen was a lot hotter than normal and a bit small like a jacuzzi but was nice anyway Location being literally next to the bus station and same building as a mall and train station is great
