A Place with a very warm hospitality ”
I had enjoyed my two nights stay at Gertes Resort and Restaurant of beautiful Laoag City in Ilocos Norte. It has a cozy ambiance for people like us who love some peace and quiet...the staff were so cordial and its owner is so considerate when she moved us to a bigger room (Family Room)when she found that I brought my daughter with me and she offered it wholeheartedly with a very minimal charge because she told us that she can't bear seeing the three of us sleeping in just one bed (though the bed is big for the 3 of us). I had appreciated her kindness which made my daughter enjoyed such vacation. If I will visit again Laoag, I will have again Gertes as the place to stay.

It's about 15 to 20 min. drive from the highway and from the famous Robinson's Mall in San Nicolas...so it's ok if you are driving! Lots of parking too! Room was a bit small and finishing was a bit rough. Lots of mango trees around so you may treat yourself with cheap sweet mango if in season. Not the most salubrious but for the money, it's ok!

Budget resort with breakfast”
Got the best deal from this hotel when we stayed in Laoag. The place has a decent room enough for the stay, small pool and car park which we needed because we brought one. Although a bit "remote" and far from the main city, this resort is a good deal for budget travelers.

The Resort was fine awesome place ”
Awesome expirience it is far from om city nice to relax. Gertes Resort ownes also a private hospital there is an ambulance standby at the hotel because there thinking about the safetyness of there guest cool. This is Kellen Kasner from Makati. Dont expect too much because there are not a five star hotel hahaha other guest comments is horrible because maybe there thinking that this resort is a 5 star hotel

A family getaway”
Very relaxing trip. Family orientated staff who generally were friendly, courteous and accommodating to our every needs. The location was quiet remote, as we were quite far from the main town, but most if not all the tricycle riders knew the place and we did not have any problems with transportation. Weekdays were generally quiet, but the weekends saw alot of people( families, groups, friends) coming to the hotel to use their pools, and it quiet packed, making the pool very dirty. But overall, this resort hotel was quiet an interesting place to visit and stay a few days. would recommend it for people who are in that area and just want to getaway for a short break.

friendly staff compensating for many shortcomings”
First at all: the hotel is far from where it is shown on the map: probably 3 kilometer away from San Nicolas, you need a tricycle to get there. The room was extremely spartan and the window was facing directly a wall, the picture looked somewhat more promising. There was some trouble with missing toilet paper, toiletries and running water; once the staff was informed they showed real concern and fixed everything withing short time; definitely the staff friendliness was a plus here; this also included a free ride on the back of a motorcycle to the bus stop in the early morning.

The signage going to Hotel is very poor..ended up in the corn field 3 kilometers away from Gertes Resort...Suggest to have signage before arrival Laog..for instance 3 Km to Gertes resort followed by 2 km..1km..500 meters..replace the arrow sign better one...

disappointing checkout”
until i tried to checkout of this hotel i was happy with everything the hotel provided.the room was clean and spacious, they gave me an upgraded room for the same price.they picked me up from the airport and dropped me off for free.the staff were friendly and helpful,although few staff could spoke or could understand english.the location was quiet and nice. however , my opinion and my temper changed on the last day when i tried to checkout.due to staff miscommunication , the owner was under the mistaken impression that i had not paid for final nights room.which of course i had!the owner was quite rude to me even when she checked with agoda and found out that i had paid.this could have been avoided if the staff had proper training and proper admin procedures.it left a bad taste in my mouth and i doubt if i will return.

Very poor internet connections. The room photo advertised is not the actual room. Definitely the hotel is not to be recommended as accredited by Agoda .

Place were overbooked when we arrived in this resort, we end up checking into the room that was under repair, bathroom not working, food especially breakfast is not satisfactory, no fruit offered but willing to give the mangoes when I saw there is one, but not offered to the guest. The distance from the town is quiet far. Lots of noisy teenagers in their small swimming pools. Otherwise the owner is helpful to assist and listened to our complaints. Not booking this place next time.

Would have lived it but .....”
Girl at front desk tried to nickle and dime me for a towel as i requested a towel getting out if the pool. Girl at front desk turned a 495 php piso veggie pizza into a 1000 php Piso pizza after all her handling and service charges! Very unprofessional! Very imature childlike high fiving after charging me un announcd charges for ordering the delivery pizza to my room for me. Totally taken advantagd of! It was Inflation due to American tourist! Totally uncalled for! I must say the grounds are lovely and its location is far from the beaten path but seclusion is what it is. It would have been a 10/10 but due to the little girl at the front desk and her charges and high fives infront of me to her co worker... As if .... They get a 2/10 for lack of management supervision. I paid for a week up front and checked out after two nights! If there is no trust, the customer will not stay! Trust and safety based on the kid working front desk .... 0/10. Sorry. Professionalism and presentation is all a business has .... 0/2.

Cozy hotel, but designed more for Local Nationals”
Let me begin by saying, it is a cozy, nice architecture and has a nice swimming pool.. Unfortunately, the hotel would be mainly enjoyed by local nationals, as it is not tourist/foreign national oriented and the food is mainly catered for locals... The bathroom did not have a mirror, so I had a tough time shaving. The small TV in the room only had 2 channels, and none of them were in English. For breakfast there was only a small portion of rice, a small potion of scramble egg and one tiny Sausage (longanisa) and one cup of coffee. The sad thing is they only serve rice for breakfast, as most tourists/foreigners don't eat rice for breakfast.. Overall the staff were friendly and hospitable, but the lady at the reception needs to know the importance of customer service and guest relations, as that plays a major role in attracting tourists to the country and also for the hotels benefit..

Nice hotel but beware”
This would be a good hotel but for two problems: 1) karaoke music played on the grounds makes some nights very noisy indeed and 2) distance from the town centre (it requires a tricycle ride which can be a hassle). But the pool is very nice and the staff friendly. Oh yes, the wi-fi, at least for my computer, didn't work.

Stay was okay - for that kind of budget. However, the room and the dining area had a lot of mosquitoes. Not very accessible by public transport especially at night and not at the city center. The contact number given by the hotel is not accessible on some times of the day. Suggest to have a readily accessible contact number specially for travelers who want to confirm their booking. Food served was not warm/hot.

Stay in Gertes Resort”
The room gave to us has a bad smell, water in the bathroom suddenly becomes orange in color. Food served during breakfast is not that nice but to be fair, just paid cheap for the breakfast so no complaint about it. Stay in the resort is so-so, anyway the good thing is the price is cheap.

comfy, quiet. u get what it says on the tin”
Arrived before midnight, thanks to the navigator ( as per address location) that only lead us to the junction of the main road and the road going to nowhere ( bit scary since you have to pass ricefields and open lands ) before reaching the place. We occupied suite, de luxe and family room. Rooms are tidy except i was shocked with a bath tub enclosed in a clear plastic/glass box in one of the room ( bit weird) Quiet place not right after the videoke session before midnight, breakfast you get what you paid for. Pool is ++ for kids to enjoy. Staff friendly++.

breakfast buffet runs out”
our first day that morning and expecting food was ready to serve. noticed that none of the dish were replenished. staff were complaining short staff. all we had that day was steamed rice and scrambled egg. mind you, it was 8am. breakfast buffet starts from 7-9am
