"Cons - not the cheapest YHA but the cheapest place to stay in Grasmere. Car parking is limited but if you arrive after 6pm you can park in the village for free until 9 am the next morning. Pros - perfect location. The room we stayed in was nice and big. The dining room was a little on the small side but we didn't use it during peak times so wasn't an issue for us. Loads of walks on your doorstep."

"We had a large room, overlooking the lake, with French doors and Juliet balcony - huge comfortable bed and nice decor. One small niggle, there's very little hanging space in the wardrobe. It was fine for us as we were only there for a short break, but for a longer stay I would want a bit more. Great food in the restaurant, besutifully cooked and presented, and the staff were without exception helpful and friendly. Spa facilities amazing, BUT you need to book in advance for treatments. I was disappointed not to be able to have a massage as they were booked up nearly a week ahead! Overall, a great experience and I would recommend this hotel, nestled in its beautiful setting in Grasmere."

"After being closed for three months you'd expect the hotel to be pristine. Not so. In our room and communal areas wallpaper curling away from wall., scuff marks. Room was cold, reception told me it was Summer and that was it. Weeds on patio, ext patio posts should have been painted. Nothing too difficult to remedy - just hasn't been done. Other hotels in Grasmere leaving Wordsworth behind. It's a shame because the building is lovely."

"we arrived around 2pm and were checked in in an efficient and friendly way. we dropped the luggage and noticed that the shower protector screen had become detached at the top and was hanging so we reported this to reception who were great - organising a replacement (not yet ready) and moving our luggage whilst we were out on a walk. on return we had a beer in the bar and were impressed that there were three real ales on offer. before dinner we had a glass of wine in the garden which had terrific views of the lovely countryside, then a good quality meal in the restaurant and went to bed in the new room in a very satisfied mood. the following morning breakfast (help yourself and "full English" ordered from the waiter to follow) was fine - I liked the mini pain au chocolats. the room was ok - compact but clean - and the beds very comfortable with quality bedding. bathroom (with big bath - yippee!) also compact but ok. good selection of toiletries and soap (rapidly disappearing from European hotels). we would go back -. nb the bus - south and north - leaves from outside the hotel."

"I stayed here with my son on Tuesday night having booked a last minute trip to Grasmere. We were given a warm welcome and the lady brought us right to our room which was a nice touch. It was a very nicely furnished ensuite twin room. The rain shower was the best I have encountered yet! Very atmospheric Lakeland Inn for a drink or evening meal. Several great walks right from the front door - we chose the walk up Helm Crag which is just opposite the Inn. There are great views of the mountains from every room. Isaac looked after us at breakfast the next morning and he gets 10 out of 10 for friendliness and service! I'm already looking forward to staying here again soon and I'm so glad I have found this place. It looks great in the photos and it is great and the staff are friendly. "
