Fairly clean and relatively inexpensive for central London. If you don’t expect too much and just need a place to sleep then it’s not a bad option on a budget.

Clean basic room”

Bed is old and springy but otherwise clean basic room. No wifi and room door is thin so noisy neighbours like mine who came back at 2pm and carried on for a few hours can be a problem. But otherwise, great location next to British museum with plenty of restaurants

Great location but very tired rooms”

I stayed here last week and chose it purely for location, which was great. Check-in was slow and the lady serving me was not remotely friendly. When asking for a receipt I was told to come back in an hour. As my room was on the 4th floor and no lift available so I asked if I could have it now. She huffed and puffed and made quite a big deal for her form filling. The corridors and room had the decor of a 1960's Eastern block hotel, worn laminate flooring and woodchip walls with heavy marks from wear and tear. Mis-matched, basic furniture and metal frame bed with protruding springs made for quite an uncomfortable night. I woke early as the curtains did little to stop the sun filling the room. I stay in a lot of cheap hotels around London and have low expectations generally and am often pleasantly surprised, but would put this one right at the bottom of my list of places I would come back to. There is no wifi available in this hotel as far as I was made aware.

horrible, dirty, disturbing”

this hotel is more reasonable than other hotels on Saturday but I shouldn't have stayed here. The wall was so thin so sounds and voices from next doors came straight to my room, and the bathroom was dirty and so small and had no space to put my clothes and bath goods on. The y had no lift. The hairdryer I borrowed didn't have UK outlet plug. Anyway, it was ridiculous to stay this hotel at which price was almost 70pounds

Gresham Hotel Bloomsbury”

Location, convenience, price.

We went to London with a short, but busy, schedule. The only real requirements we had were for somewhere to lay our head at the end of both days, the Gresham met that requirement. I would, however, have preferred a more comfortable bed but, for two nights, it was adequate. ( The hotel did not advertise food, therefore the 'food/dining' question is irrelevant. )

cheap as chips, you couldn't get a single room as cheap in a youth hostel. toilets and showers basic but clean and in warm carpeted corridor. small room but adequate for budget stay. 24 hour reception. handbasin and good hot water in bedroom

central london location with easy access to west end, everywhere. on main road but no late night clubbing/tourism. virtually next door to british museum and university of london premises. bloomsbury location. bus stop by front door. i felt it was rough and ready but the basic amenities were there. value for money. quite steep stairs and no lift. no heating in bedroom but double glazing. a base for going out and about rather than for staying in. i was there in october, not sure how warm the room would be in winter but good heating in adjoining corridor. no coffee bar or any eating facilities although website says there are. also no shower in bedroom although website says there is - but nearby showers are adequate with good hot water.

Functionally friendly, cheap, & a great location.”

The cost (£55 en suite single without breakfast), location, hassle-free.

Maybe I was lucky ? I have read some really damning reviews of the hotel but experienced none of the problems mentioned; my ONLY quibble would be thin walls/noisy plumbing. I was in the Annexe in a rear room overlooking a tree rather than a noisy street - that helped! Also the room-only (no breakfast) option is no problem in Bloomsbury...I found a typically filling breakfast for under £4 just a street away, and there are many other affordable cafes & snack bars nearby.
