Guest House Umikaji is conveniently located near the Prefecture Monorial Station, RyuBo Shopping Centre and Kokusai Street. Monorail ticket is Yen 260 from Naha Airport, only seven stations away. Suggest check-in time to bring forward to 2pm from current 3pm. Otherwise, Guests can stay/rest in the reception lounge/dining room, surf internet on the two internet terminals or read the story books and sight seeing materials provided. On the whole, a clean and comfortable place to stay while on holiday in Okinawa. I will stay again!

ISA the host is such a nice guy! He sand me days before told me the area is blackout case the typhoon land to Okinawa. But I still need to visit Okinawa so I didn’t change my mind. I a, so glad I did that! The best hostel I stay in Okinawa, I love it in personal memories. The night is blackout, actually I need to walk 30min from the aquarium, ( because I am not driving, if you drive there will not be a problem) but for me is ok, I walk usually. There is on the hill, isa the host provided everything he can give me in this blackout situation- a bit of power, dinner, snack beer, flashlight and fan. I feel comfortable to stay in the hostel. But what I have the best memories from the hostel is, because the hostel is on the hill and at the moment there was blackout so the area is dark, and I spot fireflies is everywhere just outside the hostel and the star river is just on top of me if you siting outside. And happy to meet one staff he is a artist of the transitional shamisen and introduced me that lovely music instrument I meet the first in my life. And the next morning before I wake, the power is back and isa is so kind he have drive me to the port so then I can have another amazing day in Okinawa! Thank you for everything. I love Okinawa from your hostel, it make me feel so good that I didn’t cancel the trip after the typhoon!

The Hostel owner is a great guy and he speaks English well enough for some nice conversations. The place was built by himself and you can see it is not professional done BUT it is still very good for the price. He even asked me if I need an extra futon so that the bed gets softer but there were two already and it was good enough for me. There was free caffee and he had some.instand noodle and beer to sell if you need something. There are 3 or 4 big supermarkets around and a lawson which is open 24/7 The port is only about 3km away which makes it easy to go to ie island or yoron. If you want to go to minna island the port is even closer like 500m !

I really enjoyed my stay here at the Asian Guest House Border Nago. You WILL need a car to get to this location and keen eyes. The house is located up in the northern part of the main island of Okinawa. The owner is a great and interesting guy, please take your time to talk with him. I stayed in the dormitory area which he built, by himself, on the side of the house. It's not exactly perfect, but it's his style which is why I enjoyed it very much. I appreciate things that are made with heart, and the way he designed most of the hostel, and the dormitory area, shows his heart. All in all, the whole area is just a nice get away from the city. The location of the hostel is also 15-20 minutes away from two popular islands, which you can drive to, that has beautiful beaches. I really enjoyed my stay here.

I stayed in the female dorm room and it was a disaster! Apparently one of the women is living there long term (a year +) and there were clothes, cosmetics, boxes, and suitcases everywhere. The place was a mess beyond words. There was no spot to put my luggage (an no place to lock anything up) and as a result some of it had to stay on the bed with me. It was very difficult to walk to my bed because the floor was covered with junk. I talked to the staff about moving to a different room but there was no space (the other rooms looked nicer). I understand it was kind of out of the staff's control how the woman kept the room but if it looked like that (and they were aware of its appearance) they should have insisted she pay for the whole room because it was in no condition to be rented out. There was air conditioning but only in the bedrooms and only turned on from 10pm-8am. This added to the discomfort because Okinawa is very hot and humid. Most of the visitors did not know English so it wasn't a very social place either. Overall, very disappointed and would not recommend the place.

The guest house is a small and cosy place like home. It is close to the coast and the surroundings is very dark and quiet at night, you can hear insects' sound and see the twinkling stars. In the guest house, everything is clean and tidy. The host Manabu is very kind, he remind me that I forgot to turn off my car light, and he introduced a delicious Japanese restaurant to me.

location is lovely, quiet but not too far from the naha city, facing a nice river and bridge, have convenient store and park and restaurant within 15 minutes on foot. the boss is quite nice, the automosphere there is easy and warm, like at home, you can cook in the kitchen. there's piano and guita in the living room, seems the boss is a music lover. and okinawa instrument sanxi as every where else in okinawa as well. the stuff there are friendly, and they have a cool black cat. the boss's wife suggested and send me and the stuff to the interesting festival in naha city which happens only once a year.

This guest house has been there for many years, but the room is very clean, and facilities like new. The owners speak simple English, and were very kind to let me check in one hour early. I didn't expect to enjoy sleeping on the tatami, but the floor cushion made it comfortable enough. The only problem was the noise from my fellow guests on the same floor, but I can't blame the house for that. I'd recommend this place for a short stay in Naha, at least for the unique experience: at this price you get to live with the local people in a typical Okinawa-style house in a quiet neighborhood, which is just next to the very lively Kokusai Avenue and the city center.

Overall, I had a great experience. There was a typhoon in Okinawa, and I emailed the guest house to see if I could move my reservation back one day. They responded in English within a couple hours in the affirmative, which was wonderful! The only problem was when I arrived, it was really hard to find the guest house. It is kind of in a small alleyway, and it looks like all the places around it are mostly residential. Because of that, there aren’t very many restaurants around either. Look out for a really tiny side that has the guesthouse name, and you can head upstairs from there. When I got inside, the staff was super helpful. They spoke great English, and showed me around the entire guest house. The beds were not super private, which wasn’t a plus but since there were only two other people staying in the room, it wasn’t a big deal. Location is not too bad. The bus from Naha stops nearby, and the bus to the aquarium is also nearby. It wasn’t very for the day that I stayed, so this wasn’t a problem, but I think they’re only something like five or six restrooms in the entire guest house. I feel like this could be a problem during high season.

I loved my stay here. I took a bus from the airport to Motobu resort and walked for about ten minutes. It is very close to Bise forest street where I longed to take a bike ride. It's close to beach and the beach is crystal clear with not many people around. At night,on the rooftop you can see great night sky with many shooting stars. Breakfast and coffee is wonderful! If you are traveling alone without a rental and want to spend some quiet time in Okinawa, this got to be it.

The guest house is in a quiet and secluded location on Sesoko Island. To find the place on Google Map, you have to use its Japanese name (ゲストハウス かふぅ村). There is a small parking area (space for 4-5 cars) outside the guest house. From the outside, the guest house looks like it is assembled from several cargo containers. But the interior is interesting and cosy. The common area (with a TV, a small kitchen and free wifi) is decorated with pictures and souvenirs of Okinawa and photos of high school students who stayed at the guest house previously. The sleeping area consists of cubicles separated by wooden walls and colourful curtains with Okinawan patterns. There are 2 toilets outside the common area and a shower room in the sleeping area. The place is clean and quiet, and the owner is very friendly and he can speak English. The price is also very affordable (my main reason for choosing this place). It is an interesting place to experience Okinawan hospitality.

I booked a single room, I was given a studio in a separate building, which was really good for the price. The main building itself though seemed a bit out there; when I stepped in I didn't see anybody, just a room with a table and a lot of stuff stashed here and there, luckily I had a friend who could call the guy who came promptly. For what I got it was great, but if you book a dorm, I really don't know.

Host was nice to send an email to check what time I would arrive but didn’t respond to my enquiry whether I could leave my luggage there before check-in time. She and her staff/colleague seemed nice though. Contrary to the info indicated under “available in all rooms”, WiFi was free but AC was chargeable (100yen for 120mins, I think) and there was no more water at the dispenser. The entire apartment was extremely clean and quiet. In fact, I didn’t even see the other guests during my one night stay. Easy access to eateries/restaurants/souvenir shops.

Great value .Cooking facilities.Good location-walking distance to Miebashi Monorail and Makishi Market.Great supermarket and eating places nearby. Good Wifi and washing machine for nominal fee. The mattress and pillow very comfortable.The curtains round the bed provide privacy- feels almost like in a single bed room. Kiyoshi San keeps the place very clean. Kiyoshi San was very nice to bring 3 of hostel mates on an afternoon tour (free!) on his day off! Definitely will stay again!

the reason i choose this hotel is mainly because of the price. it is not in the city center but its ok if you have already a car. there is no elevater for this building, the hotel is located at 2/f. i think this hotel can satisfy your basic need. toilet and bathing are in share basic. however, what i like most is the room is in japanese style which means u need to sleep on the floor, which is a good chance to experience japan sleeping culture.

My wife and I chose to stay here because we wanted a cheap, safe, and comfortable place to stay for the holidays. This place provided all three. This is a guesthouse and similar to being a guest in someones home, so don't expect full service hotel staff. This gave my wife and I real feeling of living in Japanese home. These are private rooms, not a hostile, but it is all contained in one house. It was quiet, relaxing, and a pleasure to stay there. I am not sure if the owner lived there as well, as we did not see him much, but was always there when we called. The room we stayed in was clean and other people we saw around the house were very nice to us. The only reason I gave it a 3 on food was there was none provided, but we were not expecting any either. There is a kitchen with cooking supplies and my wife and I used it every day we stayed there. The only thing to be aware of is the owner didn't speak English so I would recommend bringing your google translate app. My wife speaks Japanese so it was not a problem for us at all. If you are looking for an affordable, safe, relaxing, and friendly environment and really get a good feeling like your in Japan (instead of an American style hotel,) I would highly recommend this place.
