Good room ”
It was easy to find a hotel location with tiny balcony on your left notice. Room is good enough and decent heater provided. Generally it seemed you have to do it yourself filling a blanket with inner sheet on japanese bed style. It is good experience.

Nice staff, questionable facilities”
The building is very outdated and the upper-stories have a strong mildew smell. The locks on doors are outdated and inconvenient. At night you can hear everything and the other guests can be quite noisy. I was really frightened by a male guest who could be heard yelling in the hallway around midnight. I would recommend this for one night since the location is good but I wouldn’t stay any longer since I didn’t feel comfortable showering here. The sheets were clean and the bed was comfortable, a big room for a good deal.

Haunted room”
Inside our room got a small room inside. We smell rat smell from the small room, so we open it, it is abandoned toilet. Can you imagine that you sleep beside an abandoned toilet. Unable to contact receptionist, whole night didn’t sleep. Totally not recommended.

The place is nice with many room types. Not many facilities in the room but enough for all you need to sleep in. The dining room is big enough for a guest house. The kitchen supplies is more than enough and you can use it all to cook your meals and can eat freely like home. There are 3 restrooms for ladies but only 1 shower for the whole place. No worry about that because the host will provide you onsen ticket that you can shower and relax your body everyday. The hot spring place is close by the guest house, only 1 min walk. I would recommend the host do some maintainance on the door knob room 201, it was quite hard to unlock the door and it make noise every time you get in the room. The door is made of wood and glass window, the light from outside can pass through when you try sleep in dark at night. The floor is the room is decorated with real stones and was not smooth on the floor surface. It hurts when you step on and sometimes could flip your feet, be careful on that.

Dusty, and staff went MIA without noticing”
I was at Beppu for two nights. First night we stayed in an onsen resort, second night we thought to stay at somewhere more down to earth near to locals, so we got a room in this guesthouse with futon. When we reached the guesthouse, there were no staffs around, only a few other guests at the outdoor common area. There was no notice board or anything to inform us regarding on the absent of the staff. We thought the staff had went home, without passing us our keys prior to that. We were panic for around 30min as we didn't see anyone coming back and thought we might have lost our bookings, as I also noted on the email they sent that they might not have saved a room for us if the guesthouse is full though we've booked it in advance. Anyway long story short, the staff actually went out without having a sign notify their guests... After checked in, our room was a dusty double room with a no proper cupboard (it was made by random wood and boards), there was only one shower room for the whole guesthouse (they expect us to go to local onsen bath in which we did).

I would recommend this one!! The kitchen is fantastic, I have never seen. It is big,beautiful and extreme clean! the kitchenware is completed and nice,everything looks like new one! In addition, they provide free onsen entry for everyone. There are three hot spring you can choose! One of them just walk for 5 mins! But the toilet for second floor only man,woman has to go first floor or third floor. Everything is perfect ,the price is good! Except the toilet.

this guest house is good for having a place to nap. the room is really nice with the traditional Japanese tatami floor and futon. the only thing to be consider is there is no shower room here, be prepare to use the public bathroom. as this is not ok for us because we have got tattoos so we can't use the public bath. ignoring this issue, everything is great. clean and tidy with free of use of the kitchen.

Basics are mostly covered”
If you're traveling as a couple, it's possibly cheaper to stay at a hotel. This was my first trip to Japan and staying at a guest house was a new experience for me. I got lucky, the women's toilet was on the same floor as me. My partner had to go down a floor. There's only one shower "room" in the whole building, which meant a pretty big line up in the morning. And the shower room itself was unusual. Fortunately it's massive and could potentially have 4 or 5 people in the same room, but there was only one shower head. So not quite the same as a locker room. There was a huge hot tub in there as well, but I'm not sure if we were supposed to be using it or not. It had a stool sitting in the middle. Checking in was also challenging. But I've run out of comment space.

Basic accommodation”
It is a very basic accommodation. Room is clean with futon bed. You need to put in mattress cover, pillow case yourself. Only 1 common bathroom to share with other guests. Only 1 toilet for ladies. 2 man toilet, 2 basins for washing face brush teeth. Aircondition is chargeable at additional JPY200 per day. Tower & toiletries are not provided. Location is good, about 7-10 min slow walk from Beppu Station, either exit East or West of Station. One is walk by road side, another is underneath the railway track, almost same distance. I used the kitchen facilities to boil hot water, eat the cup noodle buy fr convenient store. Ground floor is reception & kitchen. 1st-3rd floor are rooms, abt 3-4 rooms each floor. No lift, climb staircase. Might be challenging for big n heavy luggage.

I was kinda impressed with the price the first time I found this place. Fair price, but the thing is the room is not soundproof, could be bad for people who find it hard to sleep with snoring sound.

Nice guesthouse, but a little overpriced.”
This is a great little place nestled in the backstreets of the station area. This puts you very close to all the public transport and a few good restaurants, but far enough from the tourist centres that it gets quiet early. As expected in Japan, the staff and everyone in the local area was extremely friendly and accomodating. The only thing that was a bit of a disappointment was the price. Business hotels in the area are similarly priced but give private facilities as well.

Nice but quiet staff. Lots of good places nearby. Easy to find Hitparade from here. Beds were soft but hard to set up. Maybe I'm an old fashioned American guy, but for the love of me, I couldn't figure out which part of the Japanese bed that cover sheet with the massive hole in the middle was supposed to go. My buddy thought it was an indoor sleeping bag and slept curled up in it.

We stayed for 2 nights, they offer Basic Japaneese style rooms. Place is clean and nice, you can use Washing machinę and kitchen facilities. They also offer free entry to few onsens around.

Guest house not staffed”
I think that I was the only person there for my two day stay, and I did not see any staff there the entire time. They left the key for me and a free pass to two local onsens, which was nice. Also, there is no sign outside in English, so it is a little difficult to find if you don't read Japanese.
