The guesthouse is a 5 min. walk from the train station and from there to the park/temples etc. it is 20 to 30 minutes walking through interesting residential and pedestrian-friendly streets. Our check-in was friendly and thorough; the room a nice blend of traditional (tatami, bedding) and western (bathroom). Common areas such as the kitchen, lounge, eating area were well designed to encourage easy interaction with other guests. We loved it and would definitely stay here again!

The owner(?)/male staff of the guesthouse is so friendly and very helpful. The deco of this place is pleasant, we like it a lot. The small kitchen is very practical and we used it everyday for cooking dinner. We have been staying here three times and we will come back again.

Straight away you will feel welcomed. Its a great position of the JR and the attractions are all walking distance . Comfy bed and the room is quite cosy. We stayed in a private double bedroom. Recommend when staying in Nara

Lovely room with wooden bunk bed and spacious size. Close to JR station and friendly staff. Tea and water freely available and the best ramen restaurant around the corner. about 20 minutes walk to the park /sights which was an easy walk but the other train station would have been better. However, I would stay again just for the ramen restaurant !

Really like the room that quite different from other hostel. The futons great, fluffy and firm enough. Located very near the Nara station. Just cross the street and we found a great ramen restaurant just a walking distant. The room a bit small for 3 people, we have yo take turn to open our suitcase inside. The minus is the sink is so small, that water splased everywhere if you washed your hand & brushed your teeth. We only stay for 1 night & overall is a great stay.

Better than expected!”
The couple who run Nara Komachi were very friendly and helpful. They both spoke English very well. We arrived in Nara before the 3pm check in but were warmly greeted and allowed to store our luggage so we could start to explore the city, when we returned our luggage was in our room. The room and the common area were immaculate, not a speck of dust. Our double room was small but very efficient, the full table or half the table could be flipped down for more room. My first impression of the toilet was that it was on a raised stage behind a glass door but there was a large shade that could be drawn down for privacy. There is free coffee and tea in the common area that you can have anytime. The bed with the down comforter were exceptionally comfortable. The TV in the room had access to only Japanese stations but the TV in the lobby was always tuned in to CNN. The location was perfect, close to the JR Nara station and 2 bus stops for the Kintetsu station or a short 15 minute walk. There are many restaurants and shops close by especially on the main tourist street to the park. Would definitely recommend Nara Komachi.

One of the best guesthouses ever stayed”
The location of the guesthouse is excellent and it could be found so easily. There are many nice restaurants and supermarket nearby. The guesthouse is small but it has everything necessary. The Japanese style floor should be difficult to be cleaned up but the room is incredibly neat and tidy. The doors are designed not to make a noise to ensure other residents would not be disturbed. That's fantastic for those who want to have a good rest after long journey. The common area is as comfy as home and we can also chat with other interesting travelers there. Residents can make their simple meals at the kitchen and freely have tea and coffee. The owner is also friendly and knowledgeable. He kindly provides detailed information about traveling in Nara. We enjoy the stay at Nara Komachi very much. The stay worths every price!

The guesthouse is just minutes walk from the Nara station. Staff were very friendly and spoke good English! If you are on budget and in group of 4, you can book the private room with two double decked beds. The rooms are so clean and well maintained. They have a well equipped pantry area (with pots and pan, knives...) on the ground floor, where you can heat and cook your meals. Definitely thumbs up for Guesthouse Nara Komachi.

We had a great time at the Nara Komachi. It is very clean and fun. We got the Japanese style rooms and it was a great way to get a traditional Japanese experience without paying the crazy prices of some of the ryokans. The owner was extremely nice and helpful. It is pretty far from the park but we rented a bike from the guesthouse and it worked out absolutely great. It was one of our favorite places in our whole trip to Japan. It is right next to the train station which is great too.
