Best to upgrade ”
I booked a basic room for myself and daughter the room we were given wouldn't be big enough for 1 person and had a horrible possibly staff quarters room. I upgraded to a standard for just an extra 10e a night the difference was incredible and well worth the extra 10e a night.

It’s a great location; very convenient to walk to most shopping, cafe and bar areas. The best is to be so close to Retiro park to take long walks

2 night stopover”
I stayed at the H10 Puerta de Alcala after ten days touring the cities south of Madrid. It's in a great location by the Retiro Gardens and in the Salamanca area which is very smart and calmer than the tourist centre of the city although with easy access - foot, metro or bus to all those parts. Staff looked after me very well and I'd use the chain again.

Excellent location in the heart of Madrid”
nH Hotels are always a good experience - clean, good value for the money, and friendly service. I stayed at nH Alcala for three nights during a business trip and enjoyed it very much. Walking to the city centre is not only easy from here, but allows you to see some of the most beautiful sights along the way. The hotel is on the edge of the Parque del Retiro and just outside teh Puerta de Alcala. Nearby is the Plaze de la Cibeles. Then, you're in the heart of the city.

Nice clean hotel in decent location”
nice hotel, staff were very friendly and rooms were nice and clean. however instead of providing a double bed as booked and listed, they gave us 2 singles put together which kept on sliding apart due to the wheels on the bottom, which was annoying. location was good but not exactly in the heart of the city, but this was ok as the price was reasonable and still was within walking distance to the main madrid attractions.

I thought the hotel and rooms were fabulous. The balcony we had off of our room was phenomenal and was a highlight of our trip. The staff was friendly and helpful. We hit a little bump in the road with a delayed check in, but all in all, we were very pleased with our experience. I highly recommend adding breakfast to your stay, the buffet was delicious!

Good location - stupid beds.”
I know Madrid very well, so picked this hotel because of it's great location to attend our friends' wedding nearby. The hotel is of a good standard and has everything you would expect - but despite asking for a double bed, we were given 2 single beds on wheels that rolled apart at any small movement. I'm all for safe sex but having to try to do it from opposite sides of the room was nigh on impossible for my wife and I. The other negative was being met with an excessive bill on checkout for us attending 1 buffet breakfast and minor use of the mini bar. The modest breakfast selection was 13 euros per person and each item of mini bar was ludicrously over priced at 3 or 4 euros per item. I would not have minded but at several other hotels in Spain, the minor bar is free so with prices not being readily disclosed I assumed it was the same here. It just all had the hint of being a bit of a con.

The hotel is a bit out-of date, though well located in a walking distance from the centre in a shopping area. Rooms and interiors are rather modest, with those modernist indistinct pictures on the walls. One of the annoyances was the absence of soap dishes which made the basin look slobby. However, everything else was tidy and in a working condition. The staff was indeed great, dedicated to resolving any issues instantly and with an ease.

Well located to Salamanca shops and antiques galleries. Easy walk to Parque del Buen Retiro and to museums such as Prado and Thyssen. Would recommend as very good value - quiet with easy taxi pull in to hotel.

As a surprise for my Wife's 50th Birthday I chose this hotel for it's great location, good facilities & value for money. The staff were very helpful & friendly & kindly upgraded our 3 night break. I would recommend this hotel for its location & a peaceful relaxing break.

Useless pool - very small”
The reason we booked this hotel was the pool and the sun baths at the terrace, but never use them - both are very tiny.
