Great stay with great service and food”
We enjoyed our 2-night stay thoroughly. Opted for full board service and really satisfied with the 4-course breakfast and 9/10-course dinner meals with the waiter/ waitress explaining patiently to us.(although we dont understand most of it and rely on Kanji/ Google Translate to figure out the ingredients). There are fresg milk/snacks served at certain timing and free flow of beverages available round the clock. We would love to come back again if visiting Hakone.

Relaxing atmosphere, great food”
I booked a single night at this onsen for four people, and it was wonderful (aside from the super windy, topsy-turvy bus ride we took to get there -- beware if you get car sick). The staff all speak a little bit of English, but there was one woman who was basically fluent who explained all the facilities and perks/free things you get with your reservation. She directed us to where we could pick up our onsen attire that they provide for walking to the onsen. Your room has a nice outer kimono you can wear if it's cold (and it was cold -- we went in January) as well as slippers and a basket with all the essentials to take with you to the onsen. My booking included dinner, which was a fantastic eight course meal, and you can choose between two different options (ours were hot pot or bbq). The food just kept on coming, but it was all so good we couldn't stop! The service is great and everyone is so nice. There are two buildings at this ryokan -- the west and east side. We stayed in the east building, which I think is a little more outdated. The room was nice and spacious with two beds and a tatami area with a table and chairs you can move around to make room for the futons (we had four people). There are two public bathhouses, one in each building, but the one in the east building is under construction, so they gave us a discount voucher as an apology. There are three beautiful private outdoor onsen that you can reserve by taking a wooden placard placed outside the private onsen area -- if the placards are all taken, you have to wait. Or you can go to the public bathhouse. The public bathhouse is nice and clean, has lockers and a changing area separate from the shower area (fully equipped with soap, shampoo, and conditioner), which then leads to the indoor onsen and outdoor rock onsen. They also give free milk, popsicles, and water. It was, overall, a great first experience. There were a few communication errors, but that's to be expected when you go to a different

Amazing day of pure relaxation and bliss!”
We had an amazing stay at Mizunoto! It is very peaceful and serene, located in a beautiful garden. When we got off of the train at Kowakidani Station, there was actually a shuttle waiting for us to drive us to the accommodation. So if you are taking the train, just wait a few minutes and a shuttle will be coming to bring you to the accommodation. We were greeted by very polite and friendly staff. Our room was extremely spacious and clean and offered an assortment of toiletries. The only shortcoming is that it smelled like cigarettes even though it was a non-smoking room. The private onsens were amazing! We had read reviews about how busy they get etc. but we did not experience any of that. We were able to enjoy the private onsen at any time during our stay. We stayed on a Wednesday night so it may be busier during the weekend. Had it been very busy, we probably would have preferred a room with a bath tub on the balcony. Around 7pm, they offer free steamed buns and at 10pm they offer free (very delicious!!) ramen noodles. Thus, we opted for these options instead of the dinner (which was quite expensive). We would recommend getting the Western breakfast. They also offer free laundry (that you do yourself) which was great as we were backpacking. Very could value for the price! We would highly recommend this accommodation!

Exceptional”
Is a relaxation place and here is really slow pace. The Onsen is good both public and private. For private Onsen, just check if the Onsen key is available or not. If there is key, u can just use the private Onsen without paying anything extra. Highly recommend to get the dinner and breakfast cause the food is super duper delicious. They have also 1 hour plum wine (free flow) at the night. Different hours there are free different thing. If you want to purchase sweets, they are selling at level 2 and there are discounted price at certain hours. On a side note, is located quite a distance from station. Do note they do provide shuttle services. Overall this is a very good ryokan and I would definitely recommend this.

Exceptional”
Service was excellent. Reception staff could speak good English. They provided little snacks in the room as well as tea bags and bottled water. Toiletries and shampoo/soap/conditioner were provided in the room as well. We have booked to include dinner and breakfast as well. For dinner we could choose between hot pot or bbq. We choose bbq and enjoyed it very much. The food was delicately prepared and feels like fine dinner. We had a hearty meal. They served free ramen for supper as well. For breakfast, it was mainly fish, soup and rice. It was enjoyable. There are public onsen baths as well as 3 private baths which do not require reservation. The 3 keys to the private baths will be hung at the entrance and once you see it, you could use it. Very convenient. Do join in the fun and wear the ryokan outfits for the meals and onsen. For those that drive, they will do valet parking for free and they do accept tips. Great!! Overall I loved this place.

Memorable experience”
After a long day doing the Hakone loop - tram, ropeway, cruise on lake Ashi then bus; the last thing I needed was a 20 min uphill hike through small roads by the highway through a forest to get to this hotel. However, the hot spring bath, delicious dinner and Japanese style breakfast at this ryokan made this a very memorable experience. It is difficult to get to this hotel especially if you miss their shuttle at the train station but all in all, I was very satisfied with my stay here.

Great Japanese Ryokan experience”
Great Ryokan with well appointed rooms, small but that's to be expected in Japan cause you do not stay in the rooms but explore the town and rest of the Ryokan for an amazing experience. Outdoor private Onsen, 4 indoor public hot spring baths, free food and snacks every hour but during peak season, dinnertime is like cattle feeding... Great food though!

A great retreat from the city”
We stayed in two ryokans during our trip to Japan, and this was by far our favorite of the two. Our room was incredible. It was very spacious, with two single beds that were nearly doubles, a sofa, a balcony, and a private bath. We managed to get a deal on our room with the private bath, and it was completed worth it. But even if you don't opt for that, the public baths are wonderful. Both rooms have a spacious indoor area with 2 hot baths, and an outdoor area with a single, large bath. There is complimentary milk between 3 and 9pm. There were quite a few little freebies at this hotel, which was a nice touch. Highly recommend this place.

Onsen onsen onsen!!!”
We are still thinking of our stay even now. The hotel is cozy, the room is huge yet nicely designed. We were wowed by the outdoor heated bath at the balcony of our room. And we got to try all 3 private onsen with great autumn scenery - the experience is unforgettable. Fabulous Kaiseki dinner. Likewise breakfast. Thank you for looking after us so well.

Exceptional”
We spent 1 night here in mid November. A short but steep walk from the Kowakidini station . Ryokkan is quite large with 7-8 rooms on each of the 4 floors. The room we had was large by Japanese standards with 2 beds/futons a small seated area , a separate toilet and shower and a veranda on which was the Japanese bath ( room for 2 - just!) . The view was over the nearby hillside and another hotel. Staff at Reception spoke minimal but sufficient English. The Evening meal served in the restaurant on the 1F was excellent ( we chose the BBQ option) and the seating is with tables and a sunken sitting area which makes seating and eating far easier and more comfortable than the standard flat floors and low tables. We were fortunate in being served by lady who spoke excellent English. Breakfast next morning ( both meals included in the price ) was Japanese that did nor cater for Western tastes, but was fine. A comfortable, pleasant stay with good location and a good introduction to ryokkans

GREAT TO RELAX”
Great resort to relax in their onsens. You can disconnect and relax but i wish they had an outside garden or somewhere to read a book because if you arent inside an onsen there isnt really much to do. Super recommend the Japanese style rooms with the bathtub outside. Love it

A wonderful stay ”
We stayed in a room for 3 pax, private onsen on the balcony. Room is clean and spacious. Breakfast and dinner (we opted for BBQ) were good. Polite staff. We went to Gotemba Premium Outlet after check out and it was very convenient as the bus stop is just 10mins walk from the hotel. Hotel rate is a bit steep. Recommended for those who want to try private onsen.

Great Ryokan Experience”
Stayed here in 2008 and again in 2019. While i feel that the F&B has deteriorated due to the increased volume of guests with the opening of the new Wing, the onsen and rooms are still satisfactory. Miss the way food was served a decade ago though, so much more heart, finesse, and authenticity.

Lovely”
M y husband and I stayed here for 1 night on our honeymoon in Japan. It was great! It's as traditional as a Japanese ryokan can get. Although we didnt book a room with an in-suite open air bath, there were private ones that the public can use. The meals were really good and very filling. Beware, though, that many of the people staying here are locals and most of the staff only speak Japanese. Signs are all in japanese only, which can be a little difficult to navigate through at first, but the staff do try their best to help you out if they can. Free shuttle bus to the nearest bus/train station is available on request. Overall, I highly recommend.
