This place must have been the classiest place in town 40 years ago. It has been beautiful maintained and has retained an elegance we really enjoyed.

The Good: * location near good shopping & restaurants * breakfast buffet w/made to order omolettes & fluffy French toast * price performance with slightly larger rooms than normal Japanese business hotel Could be better: * Slightly dated hotel * some rooms with limited windows & views

A bit old”
The room was clean but the facilities are old and the doors are quite thin, so you can hear everything going on outside.

I also had the impression that the staff spoke little to no English (or at least they didn't even bother trying to talk in English).

Internet in room on and off. And at lobby the hotel internet does not work and had to rely on the building WiFi which is on and off. We stayed 7 nites and although it is clear that occupancy is not high, no attempts was made to give us a better room. Basically this hotel just goes by the book and do not attempt to wow the customers.... Opportunity for mgmt to provide better customer service. The cleaners are serious and the bar are closed due to COVID which is always a convenience reason not to do more. It seems to be a mgmt issue as the staffs are dedicated

Extremely dated and worn out hotel”
Very very dated hotel, it needs a complete renovation. Feels like going back to the 80s. Only positive comment is it’s very close to the shopping mall. I would suggest you recommending this hotel to someone you really hate.

Pleasant ”
Hotel is well located. Major shopping and Bus station is just all around and opposite respectively. If you wanna to take a bus ride at the station (which is across from hotel) to Niigata Sado Kisen ferry terminal, yes early 7.17am with Bus 6 with 210¥ can get you to the ferry terminal in ten minutes that means you can catch a first time slot 7.55am ferry ride to Sado island! It’s a 8-10mins walk from Niigata station to hotel. Do note that hotel carparking is few minutes walk away, not the same block. Best to unload your luggage hotel entrance near Mac Donald’s store located level 1. Hotel lobby is at level 4, so if you don’t read Japanese language, do note 万代シテイ these five characters, as the name Bandai Sliver Hotel in English is not anywhere seen at level 1! Hotel is well maintained. Not that updated in terms of their furnishing and beddings. Coin laundry is available for use. Otherwise, it’s a pleasant stay for my family

Very old and outdated hotel, desperately needs updating”
Only pro: location. It’s located very near the shopping malls. Cons: very very old and outdated. Probably not renovated since the 80s. Staff were also very inflexible, arrived to hotel 30 mins early and wasn’t allowed check in.

l don't recommend”
the location is convenient, but room is small. And their pillows are very hard. We couldn't sleep well. I recomend to book other hotels as like Okura or ANA, even though a little bit expensive.

Solo? Group? I was with two friends but had my own room. I had to get the staff to cool the room for me. How to get a room temperature of 23C? Set the temperature at 19C! I didn't know that! The elevator doors close too quickly. I have bruises on my arms from trying to stop the doors from closing before I got my suitcase in or out. Cheesecake in the lobby coffee shop was not too great, but the soy sauce "roll cake" was good. I liked the french toast and omelet service (cooked fresh when you order them) for breakfast. Staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are extremely clean, and they don't use perfumed air fresheners. You get two hours less that you used to - they've changed checkout from 11 to 10 and check-in from 2 to 3. Not too serious a problem because you can leave your bags, etc. at the front desk. They even kept our frozen food in their freezer for us overnight!

Ok stay”
I spent one night at the hotel. All in all an ok hotel, had to walk a little while to get there from the Niigata station but not too bad. Rooms are small, but this is common in Japan. Friendly staff. Wouldn't mind staying here again.

old grand hotel in good location”
This hotel has the grandious feel of the past although it does need a bit of TLC. Overall impression was good. Bedroom and bathroom were quiet small but very clean. The staff members did speak English and were very helpful. They had train schedule readily available for guests! It's situated about 10-15 min walk from Niigata JR station, right above one of the major shopping malls and a couple of block from the Shimogawa river (I recommend a jog or walk on it's broad promenade on a good day). I recommend taking the 2 loop busses to see attractions on the other side of the river.

Good location but small rooms”
the hotel is well located in the center of niigata and in walking distance to the conference center. the hotel was rather pricy for the size and the rather old equipment of the room. as always in japan clean rooms and friendly hotel staff.

Nice hotel in an interesting town”
we especially appreciated the "car service" that took us downtown and picked us up later to return to the hotel. the driver gave a brief explanation of the history of murakami, and drove us through the edo-period section of the city (the city escaped wwii destruction). he also suggested some places to visit. we found the shopkeepers especially friendly and helpful, and enthusiastic about telling about their wares and buildings, without being pushy. we have visited japan several times over decades, and we found this small city one of the most interesting and enjoyable places we have been.
