This was the best hotel in our 6 day self-drive holiday. We only stayed for a night. The hotel is on the top of a hill. We enjoyed the breathtaking mountain view, the open air hot spring, the Kaiseki dinner and the breakfast very much. We booked two rooms, a Japanese room at the old wing, but we were upgraded to a spacious Western twin room at the new wing. The staff were very friendly and polite. Help us with our luggages on arrival and departure. I give them 5 stars for everything.

We stayed in the new wing. Balcony view was magnificent facing the mountain. Open air Onsen bath has one of the most amazing views, with cows grazing on green pasture lands and mountainenous views! We are already suffering from post travelling depression after coming back from our holiday....

Super nice star view”
The staffs are nice and you can watch many stars while enjoying hot springs. It is a special experience. Also, there is a session that introducing the stars.

Value of money with good service”
Hotel has good view nice onsen and free shuttle bus drop me at aso station and staff very good service. I strongly recommend

Very nice hotel. We had booked a room in old wing without bath, but the staff upgraded to new wing and this room was big and fantastic with most modern facilities. The view from the room was amazing. Onsen was good. I think the staff who attended to us was a Nepali lady and she was really very helpful. I felt I had planned badly as we spent just one day at the hotel. Wish we could have spent another extra day here at the hotel

Very good value”
Excelent vacation location. We were fortunate to have a clear night such that the hotel organized a star sight event in the evening. Very entertaining. The baths were excellent and food was ver acceptable.

Staff are friendly ”
We went to San-ai Kogen hotel during Xmas period and it is very expensive. it includes dinner & buffet breakfast. However, Dinner wasn't very good. Buffet breakfast is much better than dinner. Staff are very friendly. we have tried many onsens (in Kyoto, Hokkaido...etc) and that could be the worst one (sorry to say that). In terms of the onsen environment, facility (u have to bring your room towel). The location is good , close to Kurokawa. about 5 - 10 mims drive.

Dinner is disappointed”
The room is the best. I booked the room in the new building, and it is comfortable. The onsen was relaxing. The outdoor one is really a bit far too walk in winter, and there is no towel, shower cap nor conditioner inside the outdoor onsen. It is better to let the guests know in advance so that they know what to bring instead of walking back to the room to get the stuff. As I said, it has some distance. I didn't enjoy the dinner as the staff put almost all the dishes on the table that filled the table up, and I could not eat the items in front unless I move the dish one by one. The worst thing is that they put the Sashimi and raw pork and raw beef beforehand on the table next to each other that make me feel bad hygiene and lost appetite. It is not fine with me at all. Breakfast is plentiful and delicious. It closed at 9:00am that is a bit earlier than normal. The staff asked us to leave after 9:00am even though we just finishing the food on our table. Not very friendly staff.

Sufficient”
We stayed for 2 nights in the new building in the 3rd "Premium" floor. The hotel itself seems to be quite aged. But the new building is rather new and has all the necessary amenities. Dinner and Breakfast are provided as a buffet style, although dinner as Kaiseki style is offered in a separate restaurant with a wonderful view over Aso Mountain. All in all a good stay, but in my honest opinion a bit expensive for the service offered. If possible, would choose a Ryokan nearby instead for the same price.

This is the worst buffet and food I have ever tried in Japan. Most food are cold at the time we arrived at 7pm. Hot food was mostly not refilled. Sashimi is not refresh. The best food there is the orange and dessert. Other than the food, hotel and the hot spring is good. Staff is nice too.

Good Hotel with Limitations”
Pros : Large Room, Good View Location, Opened air onsen with stunning view. Cons : Dinner must be booked in advance or just instant noodle left. Room with view is on West Wing only and have not informed in Agoda or Booking. Check out at 10,00 is very tight for such a vacation hotel.

Amazing”
We had amazing stay with this place. The staff are great and very helpful. The room has a nice size. Outdoor onsen has an amazing view but can be a bit busy. Indoor bath (grand bath) is also has a great view. We had buffet breakfast and it was really good.

I had trouble on my road trip, hotel provided immediate help and kept the dinner for me no matter it is already over the dinner time. Thanks so much for the help. The hotel is great , large and beautiful. Service are wonderful.
