out of the city offering peace and tranquility”
we had our own transport so the trip to halong was not a problem making this a great good value place to relax. The views over halong bay were very good and the island Tuan Chau is mainly used for the Junk boat operators and the public ferry which takes motor cycles which was very convenient for moving on.

A bit out of the way from anything, great rooms”
We arrived at this hotel after a long journey. I found the hotel a bit quiet and airy. It felt like we were the only guests there. Saying that the staff were lovely and friendly, the room was very big and cosy. We also had panoramic views of the coast however visibility was not good while we were there so we couldn't see a lot. It felt like we were far away from anything. The breakfast was average. We didn't have time to check out the jacuzzi and gym unfortunately.

Far from town - but great view”
We were 3 peaople staying at this hotel for one night. When we booked a twin with one extra bed we didn't think that we would get a double bed as an extra - really nice. Location is a bit off, but it's secluded and we had no problem with noises. The manager opened the restaurant for us even though it was closed and asked if he could join us. We found this friendly, but they then tried to charge us for the beer that the manager drank. It seems that the staff is the weak link in an otherwise really good hotel. When the waiter took our order he either wrote it on his hand or tried to remember on his own. Cleaning lady stuck her head in our room without knocking and then left the door open, etc etc. All in all: Good hotel for the price.

We had a great time in the hotel, the staff was very kind and helpful, they definitely made the difference. Perfect for a couple of days getaway. We would absolutely recommend this hotel.

It was beautiful. The rooms were big and warm and beautiful. Free wi-fi were added bonuses. Breakfast was included with a lot of choice and always excellent. The staff were great . Thank you

The 'Charm's' hidden alright!”
if you'd like to stay absolutely in the middle of nowhere this is for you. you can't even walk to a market. the staff are so busy playing pool in the basement they can't even sell you a beer but for 3 hours in the evening. believe me, any money you save from being there will quickly evaporate as you are held prisoner there paying thru the noise for every drink or food. they will rent you a motorbike. the motorbike they rented me had no back brakes. the so-called charm of this hotel must be hidden in a secret cave somewhere. and there's no cable/sattelite tv - no western stations. this all would be fine if your vietenmese and have your own car as the room was huge and well appointed. i cancelled my reservation after one night.

Great location but needs renovation”
My girlfriend and I were quite surprised/disapointed by this hotel. Although many previous reviews showed positive reviews were felt that the hotel as a whole was quite shabby (and clearly run that way too): The carpets were in an awful state; the room we were shown smelt of strong tobacco; the bathroom smelt of urine; the buffet breakfast was poorly dealt with (e.g. cold coffee, stale bread). There was a sign in the hotel that said public places in Ha Long were 'no smoking', yet in all public places the staff themselves were smoking... It all set a pretty bad impression. We felt the hotel needs to change quite a a lot about its image in order to improve.

It looks liked we're the only guests. Breakfast was bad, bread was dry. Not zo much choice. Room was large with a very nice view. Room could have been cleaner but ok for us. You always need a taxi to get there and away.

Lack of charm”
This hotel is nothing like they advertise, rooms are big and clean but dated and have no ammenities mentioned online. The place looks deserted with barely any guests or staff present and it definately needs renovation. Wifi didnt work, only good thing staff member gave us a mobile one. Breakfast was not very good. We cancelled our stay after one night.

Just don't !!!!! ”
We arrived around lunch time just before the restaurant closed and we left a few hours later !!!!!!, the food was good and well priced . But the hotel is falling apart and it's in the middle of nowhere . We hired a scooter from the hotel we thought it felt wobbly and they watched us drive off with a flat tire !!! Which wasn't good when you are so far away from anything JUST DON'T STAY HERE

Bad hotel in the middle of nowhere”
We booked for two nights, but after one we checked out and got on a cruise in Halong bay. it was that bad.

Not good experience”
I book 2 double bed rooms with, received 2 twin bedrooms with nice view. After fb, reception gave us 1 double bed and 1 twin bed (they move 2 twin beds together without join bed). Facilities n room are not in good condition. However reception - Nam is well supported.
