Pleasantly surprised!”
When we first entered this ryokan, we were pleasantly surprised by the interior and facilities of the place. There is an awesome communal onsen and bath, great Japanese breakfast, nice Japanese styled room with comfy tatami mats. In the room you can sit down on the floor at the table, drink green tea and enjoy a snack or two. Totally a relaxing stay, would definitely stay here again the next time we visit Takayama

Authentic Comfortable Japanese Experience”
We were travelling through Japan on our honeymoon. This was our 3rd location out of 5 and first traditional stay. We loved it! Initially I was a little apprehensive as the reviews were mixed. Some mentioned the unfriendly reception and dusty rooms. However we did not experience either. We don't speak Japanese and made an effort to bow & greet them (when in Rome, do as the Romans do and show some respect)& they were polite back to us. The first room was big & spacious with an ensuite toilet. We were shifted on our 3rd night's stay to a smaller room with no toilet but it was also cheaper & very reasonably priced. The shared toilet was also right outside the room so it's not a trek to the toilet. We did not eat in the ryokan as brekkie is at 7-ish and we are late risers. But the aroma of the food every morning when we woke was incredible. Book ahead of time. Also you are able to return after midnight, just pry open the door manually and shut it as the electronic system shuts after that.

The staff (old woman) is very very kind. My friend forgot his wallet in the hotel room. At night after we went back to hotel to get our luggage the staff gave the wallet back to him. We were really appreciate her honesty.

Japan tour”
Great location in Takayama plus this was a great opportunity to experience a Japanese style accommodation with the soaking hot tub experience. One needs to get used to sleeping on the mats and using the shared facilities. Overall a great stay with a traditional breakfast and use of the soaking tub. Only negative is that it is an older property so the walls were thin and floors where uneven so walking was a little challenging.

One-off experience, bit overpriced”
Place was awesome, enjoyed the traditional ryokan as well as the customs that came with it including a traditional robe with cool egrets on a blue material. It is a tad overpriced as what you get for $115 can be matched by many places, but the location being next to nice hida beef restaurants and Yu bar, is quite nice and really nice Onsen. Improvement: I could not turn off the main light, i don't know if my room was a one off.

hotel is located at convenience area . Close by station and everything . The breafast is amazing . But the chinese girlstaff at the lobby is not friendly . The hotel should train the foreiner staff work under japanes business maner level . Btw we discuss by japaness

Location is 5 min walk from the bus/train station, 15 min walk to old town. Owners are super nice, speak very little English. It's an old ryokan, historical building yes, but way too expensive for that place.

Read the comments before -poor hygiene condition -poor service As a late comer to the hotel, I have not enjoyed much of the service However, the service attitude is acceptable Reception staff tried to explain and I appreciated For the hygiene condition, Is acceptable in the room (No smell) But for the bathroom(common bath room) A great improvement is needed The water in bath tub(?) is horrible!!!!!! guests get inside without bathing previously !!!!!! Certainly, education to visitors is not adequate. Still, i think it is a good hotel
