"We spent New Years Eve here for 2016 and had a blast. This is a beautiful part of Japan, and we really enjoyed the natural, clean, pine scented air. The hotel is older, and some parts of it are quite worn. Our carpet was heavily stained. The flip side of that is with small kids we were not too worried about them messing up stuff. The place has a very informal and friendly feel even though it is quite large. The staff was helpful and smiling and seemed genuinely friendly. Our room was very big for Japanese standards, as were the hallways and public areas. The buffet breakfast was very tasty..it was buffet food but the quality seemed high, we liked almost everything we ate, Japanese and Western. We did not manage to eat at any of the restaurants, but they smelled good. They had some fun events for New Years, and we had a good time in the onsen, which was also very big. On site gift shop had a lot of neat local stuff for sale...even microbrew from the local brewery. They had a pretty big games area too. I think this is a very fun place, a bit tired, but a great value. We would happily stay again."
