Rural”
If you’re looking for a stay on the outskirts of Dong Van, this is a good location. Was a difficult place to find with google maps as there were many small pathways and the sign was small and covered by branches. It is definitely a more “rural” experience. We arrived after a very long day and the mattress was hard as a rock and the duvet was damp (likely from the humidity from outside was the room did not have solid walls- was wooded boards with small cracks). My partner and I are all for an experience like how some locals live , however I was quite sick at the time and looking for a cozy and comfortable place to rest and this was not the place. We ended up leaving within a couple hours and headed back to Dong Van to find a more comfortable place. The staff were welcoming when we arrived and understanding when we left.

Nice stay!”
It's good for one night stay in Lung Cu with clean toilets and a large yard. However, rooms are poor in soundproofing and lack door locks. Most notably, the wall sockets are of poor quality as plugs are easy to fall out of outlets, which will damage electronic devices and also pose fire risks. I suggest the owner replace all outlets in the homestay using Panasonic products (not so expensive and widely available in VN) for the best quality and safety.

Gorgeous homestay away from the ‘loop’”
We arrived in Dong Van and immediately decided that we didn’t want to stay in town. I found Homie Homestay after a quick search and 27km later we arrived at the most picturesque homestay in the most northern village of vietnam. They have 2 double rooms in what’s may have been old stables but renevated to be clean simple rooms with the best bed linen in vietnam! The mattresses were a little hard but it didn’t affect my great nights sleep. Dinner was served in the family home behind the homestay which was my second favourite meal of the entire trip. We spent the next day on a trek to the boarder points with China which was good fun, but be warned, if you aren’t a fan of steep hills avoid at all costs, nearly broke me! More expensive than other home stays but it’s owned by a Hanoi family which shows in the style AND the price.
