Overall great experiences. All of the staffs I met during my four days stays are friendly and helpful. Feel pleasant and peaceful staying here. Just a reminder note, there are only three bathrooms so you may need to wait around 10 min to use bathroom during peak hours. High worth value of money, definitely will come again on my next visit.

Great place to stay in Yokohama ”
Location excellent, round the corner from the metro and a supermarket, Chinatown a 10 min walk away. Facilities exactly as described. Breakfast was basic but filling. Staff very helpful and friendly.

Facilities not match with the photos at all”
I only found out there is two type of hostel zen, the one I'm living in was the economic pax. But I didn't get any inform about getting the economic pax. By the way, we need to pay for the shower.

Not for picky travelers”
I traveled and booked this hotel with my 2 friends. (All girls) we crammed into a very small room with no bathroom inside. We need to find a shared bathroom to be able to take a bath and all... a value for money but really if you are in Japan for leasure dont book in here. The stay was so-so but will never book here again if i come back.

Acceptable”
Not recommended because totally different from the photos and the reviews that I read, building was super old and the shower area, you have to pay 100 yen per 6minutes usage. They did not even mention it on their booking page. Staff was not so helpful and building looks scary.

Affordable and good for what you pay ”
Very good. Served our needs. Good hostel. We wanted to spend a night in yokohama japan. We walked around he city out first night. There is no curfew for this hostel. The staff were very helpful. It is in walking distance from the subway. Gives you a different side of Tokyo. Great hostel for backpackers. It offered an easy access to china town. It had a kitchen if you need to prepare any food. They provided towels and wifi was included. Very comfortable beds and clean sheets. Very friendly staff. It was very easy to check in and check out. There is also a Lawson's which is like a 7eleven down the street. There are a few restaurant near by. We only needed to stay for one night. If you are lookin for an affordable cheap good hostel I would very much reommend hostel Zen. Another note is that all the staff were friendly. The room had a tv, two beds, great heater.

Good value, nice roof garden!”
Poor neighbourhood with not a lot going on, but walking distance to Yokohama downtown. Very clean little room with balcony. Breakfast is good and served on the roof, which is nice. Not a fancy place but good value.

Convenient place with very nice staffs”
There are rooms located on the 3rd floor. However, there is no elevator here, so guests with big packages may have to carry heavy things upstair. The rooms and toilets are clean. The staffs were also very nice and kind, despite of their lack of English. The location is very convenient, you may walk to China town within 15 minutes and other recommended places in Yokohama near China Town such as Cosmo World or Yamashita Park within 30 minutes. One disadvantages is that it will cost you 100 JPY for 4 minutes water for bathing. Overall, I would like to rate this hostel 4 stars for its convenient location, kind staffs. Minus point mostly for the bathing cosr.

Much better than expected”
They have shared shower rooms now to be used for FREE (instead of coin showers mentioned in previous reviews). The room was way much better and cleaner than we expect. No problem at all for a few nights of stay for budget travellers. The neighborhood was just nice but a little hard to locate. Close to train station, walkable to China Town and other nearby spots. The staff even allowed us to leave our luggages at the front desk until 6pm after our check-out. Cons: No elevator in the building and their rooms are on 4th and 5th floor, so consider twice if you have big and heavy luggages. The room is pretty small but no problem to accommodate two people. Shower rooms and toilets are shared.

A comfortable stay for the price.”
Our stay in the hostel was nice with breakfast provided free of charge.. But the only negative point was a strange smell in the room which we were staying.. Would have appreciated if the owner had sprayed some deodorant before our stay but we soon got used to the smell. Other than that, it is a nice place.

Good stay in Yokohama”
We had a pleasant stay at the hostel. The room wasn't terribly big, but had comfy beds, air con and a little table to put things on. There is a common area to use for eating and kitchen with fridge, microwave, hotplate and hot water dispensers for noodles and things. The bathrooms were clean and showers too. Be aware that you have to pay for the showers, it was 100 yen for 4 minutes but you can stop and start the water and timer. There is a laundry at the hostel, and it is very close to the train station and only a short walk to China Town.

No Annexation”
Pros: Staff friendly, walking distance from Chinatown, Yokohama Stadium Cons: Stayed in 'Annex', the room was almost unbearably musty. Left my door open for awhile to get fresh air, and tried to use the dry function of AC. No change. If you have a sensitive nose/weak respiratory system, avoid the annex.

Just right place to stay for budget travellers”
Right place for me because I was looking for cheap accommodation near to Yokohama. 4 minutes shower charges 100 Yen but that is cool. First time experienced a vending shower.

You get what you paid for”
Pros: Cheap but the room was clean Breakfast even for one of the cheapest plan Close to the center of Yokohama Con: It is not in the nicest part of Yokohama The main entrance is not locked and there is no receptionist after 8pm, so I saw a person who look like a homeless coming into the hostel to use the bathroom. That's good for them but also makes me feel worried especially because I had a company.

Different from pictures”
The photos shown on the site are taken of the main branch of the hostel. The one you would actually be booking would be its annex (if you chose the option). The exterior and interior of the annex were extremely different from what are shown in the pictures. Undoubtedly, it is located within proximity to the famed Yokohama Chinatown. However, it is also located within a shady kind of neighbourhood (not the women-service kind, more of the industrial-ish kind). So, you would want to be extra careful if you are a lone female traveler, or one who knows no Japanese. Highly unrecommended for families (just in case).
