Best hotels & accommodations in Ha Long

Our taxi driver said we shouldn't go there, but it was such a cute hotel. The staff didn't speak English, but we were able to understand eachother. We booked a day tour there, and the tour was so good (probably better than other companies, because you don't see the most tourist things. Green travel is it called). The bed was a bit hard, but it was okay. The only thing ...

The front desk staff are very friendly, happy and always help out when they can. Good breakfast in the morning which is paid for when you stay and even if you go down later out with their breakfast time they still feed you with no bother. The room, beds and bathroom were all very clean and had hot water! We booked a trip to Ha Long Bay through the hostel and they made ...

Booked the backpackers hotel but when we checked in we were taken to a dodgy looking hotel out the back. This place was dingy, dark and outdated. The mattresss was like lying on stone and the bed sheet was like sandpaper, also our window looked straight out into 3 houses. All the switches in the room were labelled in Vietnamese yet no one thought to explain to us which...

The receptionist did not know what agoda is. She needed me pay cash for the rent, I tried many times to explain to her I have paid the rent via credit card in agoda. If I paid again, then I would pay double rent. I also showed the proof of room booking to her. However, she could only speak vietnam language. She could not understand my meaning. Finally, she rung up her ...

Traveler impressions of Ha Long
With more than 2000 different islands, there's plenty of wonderful scenery to go around on this world heritage wonder.
Ha Long Bay is beautiful and one of the natural wonders of the world - great for travelers who wish to disconnect from the rest of the world, switch off and unwind.
Halong bay is indeed beautiful. It is sad the locals do not know how to conserve and take care of their natural surroundings.
Halong has wonderful scenery but to poor to shopping and everyone is not friendly because they sell more more expenvise for traveler.
Magnificent new museum, Fishing village and views in the middle of town, Some type of memorial in town which nobody knew the name of, Extraordinary amount of development going on up and down the coast, Underrated and there are things to see other than Ha Long Bay itself.
the famous attraction will be the Ha Long Bay. Reconmmended to get on a cruise to have a wonderful view of more than 3000 islands.
It is a place that does not exist for tourists, it is where we can truly see the life of ordinary city folk.
The only thing you need to do in Halong is just take a boat trip in Halong bay and see the rock. The town is not deserved to visit.
Really is a place where we spend less than an hour waiting for our junk to go to halong bay and bus to go back to Hanoi.
Halong is a boring city at night and lazy city at day time. The only thing to do is to jump on the boat to visit Halong Bay
We thought we would spend a night in Halong before our cruise but it is really a waste of time - there is nothing to see except an oil-stained beach backed by scores of souvenir stalls.
The obvious attraction of Ha Long is Ha Long Bay and its beautiful islands, however the city itself is worth a visit for the colonial French past, magnificent mountain top catholic church and beautiful old Buddhist temple.
No easier place to get ripped off by the tour companies. Be careful who you spend your money with. Pay for a nice boat and get a wreck of a boat with 27 people and beds for 17.
nice to see the culuture of halong, nice places to stay with and people are ok except mostly they don't understand and speak english.
Halong Bay itself is very impressive. The Halong Bay townsite does not have much going on. There is no decent restaurants and only a few quality hotels.

We didn't stay in Halong city. We stayed in Hanoi and we went directly to the boat. In the boat we stayed for 3 days and 2 nights which I recommend since 2 days 1 night in my opinion is a short time.
There is nothing much to see other than the famous Halong Bay. The whole area is under-developed, there is nothing to do at night as everywhere is quite.
Beautiful scenery and relaxing place. Night life could be a bit boring so have to plan and prepare some activities on your own for example snacks, drinks and games.
It will be best if the weather is good, then can see those islands clearly when travel around by boat.
We stayed on the boat for two nights. It was enjoyable with relaxing time and activities like kayakking, swimming, walking, etc.
For the halong bay tour, there are two options for tourist, with kayaking or without kayaking. If you find yourself not really interested with kayaking, remember to request the "without kayaking tour".
Hire a scooter and go exploring to the other side of healing that's where you will see the real culture of halons bay.
We came in July/August and it was quiet. The place is full of hotels with few people. Not a lot of nightlife we saw 2 clubs and a small handful of bars.
Only spent half an hour at Halong City due to insufficient time - had to rush to the airport for departure right after cruise disembarked.
Ha Long is a beautiful place for sightseeing and camping... I have wandered around the place and enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere
Not much to tell as we didn't spend time around Halong town area, once reach Bai Chay port, straight away to the cruise ship and during return, no time as well.
DO NOT GO IN THE RAINY SEASON! There is NOTHING to do here!! The boats are out in full force, altho there is not much joy in having a lovely boat and not being able to take full advantage of its lovely deck up top, or the sunlounges.
Beautiful view and many caves and islands to explore. Beach & swimming attire, sunblock is a must. You should bring an umbrella or raincoat in case it rains.
Beds was small I was on the floor 3 times And rooms were also small. Don't listen to people u will be very bored on this cruise
