The staff here are friendly. Although they are not good in English, they will still try their best to convey the message. Visitors can freely use either public onsen or private family onsen (if not occupied). During my stay, private family onsen was available all the time. Bath towel and amenities are provided. Kaiseki dinner was great and definitely worth the extra pay. They also provide onigiri as supper. Dinner time is 6pm, while breakfast 8am. During my stay, I had to check out early 7am. The chef even made onigiri for me earlier the night as my breakfast. Do take note that the location is quite distant away from convenient store. When the night come, all around is dark. You either pack what you need early before back to hotel, or find company to go to nearest convenient store with you. The street is dark out there and can be unsafe for travelers.

Small but warm”
A small Japanese style onsen resort, not much of facilities but you get to feel the friendliness from the staff. One of the best thing..You get free Beer!free refill! The location was just great, walking distance to Kinrin Lake, we went by the evening and the early morning again. and also close to the attractions and shops. They have free parking for those who are driving.

Although staff speak little English but you can feel there sincere services! Close to places of interest, beautiful environment in the hotel premises. 24 hours open air hot spring! I will surely return to this hotel upon second visit to this area!

Western beds in a ryokan”
We chose twin beds rather than sleeping on the floor. We had the ryokan treatment with time for a private bath with my spouse. The onsen was open air and large. It provided a nice ambiance and was open 24 hrs. The food was excellent and the dishes we did not recognize were explained to us by the waiter. Our breakfast consisted of Japanese food plus eggs which we fried to our choice (we like ours well cooked and not runny) so enjoyed that part. They also threw in a couple slices of bacon. Oh, and steak was the featured item on the dinner menu. The taxi from the Yufuin train station was under 1000Y. Restaurant tip: we had lunch at NOGAMI restaurant near the station before heading out to the ryokan, where there were vendors selling mostly snack items on the street. Remember check in time is 3pm. It is a bit too far to walk to and you would get lost if you tried.

Nice hotel”
The hotel located in a good location, close to the main street and easy to find. Staffs were nice and the food was great too. The room we stay was in western style, we need to take shower at the hot spring area, there is an out door area, it's really cold at winter time, if there is a heater in the changing area will be better.

The overall hotel are nice, especially the foods provided here were excellent. However, the concerns were,hotel didn't have non-smoking room provided and the restroom smells badly.

Good and relacing stay”
Quite nice hot spring hotel with a lovely traditional garden. The room was in a fair condition which was a bit old, it was acceptable except he air conditioner was a bit noisy and the toilet was smelly. It was far away from the JR station (around 25 minutes walk) and it's not recommended if you carry a big luggage. But it was close to the attraction (a lake nearby). Anyway, the staff were very friendly and helplful~ Having a good experience though.

loved the kaiseki and the onsen”
very nice ryokan with traditional design. you have the option to bathe in the public or private onsen they have. the kaiseki meals were fantastic. walking distance from the kirinko lake and the famous street with all the shops. the staff were very helpful and attended to all our needs. only thing is if you need to go to the main station a cab is the only means of transport which can be a bit expensive. overall enjoyed our stay here!

Low quality but good location.”
1. Very bad parking space, because the bridge to parking lot is very tight, and the hotel door is 60m from the parking lot. 2. The reception stuff is warming and able to speak English. 3. The dinner and breakfast are inferior and unsatisfactory compared to the hotels at the same price range. 4. The room facility are unsatisfactory. Our room 9 is not in the main building. It is located in a newly built building along with most of he rooms. But the newly built buildings are very bad at noise control, which is acceptable for a antique building but unacceptable for a modern building. Because there are too many rooms in the building and the noise control is so poor, your room will be noisy too the night and all the morning if you get bad luck like me, esp there is any child or baby Int eh building that today. Tragedy. Don't expect sleep. Hygiene is just fine. Carpent are also needed to be replaced. 5. The garden will be very beautiful after adequate maintenance. 6. The public toilet is the worst I have ever seen in Japan in the recent 1 month travel. Odorous.

Great hotel”
Though it is a long way to the hotel from JR station, but it is right next to the Lake. The hotel staff is so nice and helpful though they can speak limited English. The breakfast and dinner are great. They are generous to provide free flow of organge juice, beer and water and send you two pieces of rice roll and dim sum as snacks. Do not hesitate to recommend this hotel to those who will visit Yufuin.

Pros: private osen, opened24hrs. Delicious food, great service from staff, stuff member will give you a tour of the inn during check-in. Should you arrive early, they will store your luggage while you can take a brief tour around Yufuin. Biggest con: my western style room reeked of smoke. I left the ac on all day and left the windows opened during my trip and found it completely unbearable. Also, I’m not quite sure why I was not given the choice of hot pot over steak during dinner. I noticed a family from Hong Kong ( also staying in western room) was given hot pot. I wish there was a choice on Agoda.
