I travel with friends. The location of Futaba is good, as it is close to the train station. Even we are only two people, the room for us is very large. And there is a lot of snowboard equipment shop around so it is easy to rent them. Also, there are so shuttle bus around which can take you to different place to play ski/snowboard.

There are many types of onsen. The staff though they cannot speak English, they try to. The food is very, we enjoy both dinner and breakfast. The room is better than what I expected.

Very convenient within walking distance from the train station but they have free shuttle every half an hour. Hotel’s interior of the room resembles of the Japanese traditional host on the ancient times. Onsen is good as well.

Impeccable Service!”
The stay at Futaba was impressive. The service staff ran out to greet us, taking over our luggage from us when they saw us arriving at the hotel. They even dried our bags as it was drizzling when we arrived. The room was fairly large for our family of 4. Lots of space and the fridge was well stocked! When my Son was running a temperature during our stay, staff gave us fever patches and even offered to send us to the hospital. Overall, we had an enjoyable stay at Futaba

We opt for 2 Japanese style rooms for the group of 7. The stay was definitely better than expected and love the private hot tub that's provided in the room. The snow capped scenery was lovely and buffet breakfast was full of variety. Private fine dinning during was an experience worth mentioning and was exquisite. They provide free shuttle up and down train station at any time thus easy access.

Unforgettable stay & hotel staff being attention to details”
We were travelling with 2 young children, the services & respond are great, accessibility is easy for us with hotel shuttle to pick/drop us to Shinkansen station and to Gala Yuzawa Ski Resort. The furniture is a bit dull, but it shows the character of the place. Hotel staff is exceptionally friendly, helpful & hospitality is top-notch. Managed to visit the laid-back Onsen with my kid during quiet hours. Overall it was an unforgettable stay, we felt pampered during our stay and enjoyed every moment of it. Thank you (“Domo Arigato”) to all Hotel Futaba’s staff for a wonderful experience.

Hotel staff seems like a trainee, not professional at all. She said to me, if you have question, please call and ask the front desk, when guiding me the room. And that’s all, I’m sure I won’t stay again and won’t recommend to others!!!

Good location. Walkable distance to Yuzawa Kogen ski resort. Hotel shuttle pick up upon request. Friendly staff. Dinner is not the best but given the price, it's reasonable. Breakfast is good.

Surprisingly good modern onsen ryokan.”
I went there before ski season begins so it's quiet, just what I was looking for. Not really waking distance but the hotel provides shuttle service during the day so not a problem at all. Very reasonable price compared to what's provided, love to recommend to someone looking for a quiet getaway. I stayed in Japanese style room but they provided a chair for my father who has difficulty with floor seating. Various onsen / bath choices to try so easy to get pass the day. Excellent breakfast and dinner. Interesting souvenir shop with delivery service. But the best goes to the staff, EVERYONE is professional and attentive in the right way (you now how "over" the Japanese can go sometimes...) And I want to say thank you again to the Omiyge san who handled our check-in, Mongolian san and Megane san who helped during dinner, and the Kawaiko chan at the reception.

Impressive ryokan”
The hotel provides so many outdoor onsens with great facilities. The food was so good. Our room with was so huge that there are in-room private indoor and outdoor onsens , 2 separate toilets, a giant meeting table with 8 reclining seats, 1 western style bedroom, 1 japanese style bedroom, a long corridor. It was the biggest room we ever stayed!

Misleading and poor onsen”
“Open air bath” turned out to be small bathtub of tap water only. When staff explained this at check-in she was also apologetic herself (“your room is with open air bath, actually this is not onsen water, just regular water”). It is clear the staff themselves know that price and description of the room is a complete lie as it is a usual description of private in-room onsen for any onsen hotel in Japan. Public onsens were awful as well with large variety of “different” onsen types, which are added colouring and smell but not natural onsen water . Food was of terrible quality and the worst of 5 onsens I’ve visited. Paid 43000yen for room that was same quality and size (and no private onsen, of course) as another I stayed at in Yuzawa Grand for less than half that.

The service is great and also is not to far to the station. They also provide the shuttle bus if u needed, the outdoor hot spring is amazing. Inside of the room n public area they offered all kind of face n body product for u to use n try on. Dinner is the best, we have our own room with the private service. A lot of food on the Japanese style set that you will never gonna forgot if u r fist time there. Beautiful view for the breakfast as well, lots of choices n tasty, will definitely wanna come back if we got the chance.

Love the stay. Staff were exceptionally friendly from ground to back end staffs. Room was clean and staff were efficient to explain to us on all details. Futon were set ready once we were back from dinner and cleared when we are back from breakfast. Kaiseki meal was fabulous except that service staff could explain and introduce all e dishes that they were serving. In terms of the sequence of eating it. As menu was whole written in Japanese. Other than that, i can't find any reason to find fault or penalise them.
