The hotel itself is a piece of art. The garden and foyer area are just stunning. The rooms are huge. The beds are huge too. This is highly unusual for a Japanese hotel. Staff members are extremely helpful and friendly too.

Hotel is above expectations, but...”

Overall, the experience in this hotel is quite good and above our expectation. Room spaces are large, we can use double beds for 4 each and they offer complimentary lounge service for every users. However, the cleaness was below our expectation. Especially, the utility for tea and coffee were abundant of small dusts and they didn't clean until the checkout. They should correct it. And also, I recommend 'do not use any restaurants except for KANA TERRACE (for breakfasts)' eventhough they offer 20% discounts. I used Kaiseki restaurant for a dinner, but it was horrible! It's the first experience that I didn't satisfy for Japanese food.

Spacious room. Nice executive lounge.”

Second time staying in Gajoen, this time staying in the newly renovated Japanese King Room (80 metres square). Nice decor. Spacious as always. Executive lounge is nice. Recommended to sit by the window where one can enjoy the meal with Mount Fuji in the background. Food offered in the executive lounge is delicious too; wish there were more choices though. Cleanliness and hygiene can be improved. Attention to detail is questionable as we found a receipt left by the previous guest in the guest room. It always makes us shudder when we see "leftover" from previous guests. Location is not the most ideal. Shuttle bus service not frequent enough. Reserved Valentine's Day dinner at the Hotel's Italian restaurant which was great.

Dear Iris san Thank you for taking the time to write about your stay with us. We greatly appreciate your feedback and would like to sincerely apologise for your unpleasant experience with our Housekeeping services. We must always properly process what the previous person left behind. However, this time it is regrettable that the receipt of the previous guest was left in the room. We will take the pointed out seriously and will make further improvements and efforts so as not to repeat the same thing. The food presentation at the lounge is provided according to the season, so the content may differ depending on the season. In addition, since it is a place where meals are provided and an unspecified number of people come and go, we always try to keep it clean. We look forward to the pleasure of welcoming you back to the hotel for another memorable stay. Yours sincerely, Hotel Gajoen-TOKYO Rooms Manager

Quintessentially Japanese!”

For our first trip to Tokyo, we wanted a luxury hotel that wasn't part of an international chain - something in a neighbourhood that would be less tourist-y and more "local". Our son's Japanese colleagues suggested the Meguro Gajoen and although it wasn't on our travel agency's list of Tokyo hotels, we decided to go for it. Turns out it was the perfect choice. First of all, the hotel décor is absolutely sumptuous with magnificent mural frescoes and other Japanese artwork everywhere you look (even the bathrooms!). A cascading waterfall, tiny bridges over little brooks ... the lobby is exquisite. You feel immediately like you are in the heart of Japan. The week we were there, there was a floral art exhibition and Japanese aficionados turned out to see the creations of one of Japan's most popular artists. The hotel is a popular spot for weddings, so we enjoyed watching joyful families arrive for wedding ceremonies. The hotel breakfast was fabulous, with Japanese and European choices. And the huge rooms are beautifully appointed with high quality materials and amenities - top notch luxury. I can't say enough about this hotel! Add to that its location 5 minutes from the subway. Meguro Subway station seems off the beaten track, but in fact it's very convenient. The Yamanote line runs around the city and takes directly you to all the best tourist sites. It's an above-ground train line that is much more pleasant than the subway. There are tons of restaurant options at Meguro and even more at the next stop Ebisu. These are areas of Tokyo that are more residential, so you see families and people going about their business - as opposed to Shinjuku, Ginza and the Tokyo station areas that are more for business.

Awesome hotel - highly recommended ”

Stayed 4 nights in Tokyo during my recent stay due to extremely good reviews on travel sites. I couldn't agree more. I have been a frequent traveler to Tokyo n this is the biggest room I have stayed all these years. The land scaping and the deco of the hotel was really impressive. Service from the front desk to each n every hotel staff was good . Cleanliness was tiptop . Gajoen has also impressed me with their little details in the room . This hotel has put A lot of thoughts into customer's need. Room size is huge and they even have jacuzzi bath n steam room to pamper their guests. It's makes u wanna spend time in the room as they have thought of everything to the customers convenience. Distance to the nearest train station is only a short walk. There are 2 cafes within the hotel vicinity and many eating places to choose from just a short walk from the hotel. I will definitely stay in this hotel again for my 2nd visit this year end.

Gajoen is my usual choice of hotel for the last few visits. I enjoy the space in the rooms (80sqm), which is pretty Rare in Tokyo. Love that the hotel location is quite easily accessible to the train station and also lots of eating places just within the vicinity of the hotel. Highly recommended for family to due to the sizes of the rooms. only complain is that there are no gym facilities, but the rest of the plus point of the hotel made up for it,. Will sure stay in my next visit.

Superb stay”

My Go-to hotel stay for sure during my Tokyo trip. Rooms are really big and comfortable as all the rooms are suites of about 80sqm. Excellent service, convenient location in my opinion as it is only a short walk to Meguro station. Hotel was so nice as to give us an upgrade (to 110Sqm), which made the stay even more memorable. Western Room floors offers netflix and Nespresso coffee which are added perks. Jacuzzi and steam bath available in your own room which makes you staying in so relaxing and nice. Highly recommended .

Art lover”

Extraordinary hotel with extraordinary art. If you stay here make sure you do the art tour. The rooms are huge by Australian let alone Tokyo standards. For all the years I have been going to and fro to Tokyo I did not know about this place until recently recommended by a Japanese friend. One of the world's great hotels. Very distinctive in its style and history. A real treat.

Worth the money you paid for”

This hotel is pretty great for what it’s worth. Service is up to par and as far as location goes, it’s a pretty convenient walk to the train station (Meguro). As far as my observation goes, there’s a lot of expats in the area due to its vicinity with global company offices like Amazon, etc. So naturally, some of the businesses are international and tourists friendly.

Great Hotel”

Spacious suits with access to executive lounge. More variety for breakfast would enhance the experience. Many reviewers mentioned the steep hill to walk in order to get to Meguro Station. You can actually use escalators through the Amazon offices next door as a short cut.

Dear Paul Thank you for taking the time to share your review following your recent stay at Hotel Gajoen Tokyo. There is also a shortcut to get to the station, but on weekdays you can take a free bus after 11am. On weekends such as Saturdays and Sundays, it operates from 9am. Please use it next time. I think this is a convenient method for families with small children. We look forward to the pleasure of welcoming you back to the hotel for another memorable stay. Yours sincerely, Hotel Gajoen-TOKYO Rooms Manager

Exceeded our expectations”

Incredible service, and possibly one of the best hotels I've stayed in, ever. Absolutely worth the price, and the location being so close to the Meguro station is key.
