Location, staff and comfort all great! ”
Had a fantastic stay at this place. The staff are lovely - very helpful, courteous and all had enough English that we managed just fine. The whole place is spotlessly clean - we've been traveling round Asia for 8 months and this is the cleanest place we've stayed. The wifi signal is good, there is also a laptop available for guest use. They provide you with kimono style dressing gowns, 'slippers' and toiletries, as well as a flask of hot water and green tea each day. The rooms also come with TV. This is a traditional hotel/inn, so it's futon mattresses on the floor and shared showers/baths (unless you book an en-suite). The rooms are small but most rooms in Tokyo are. The location is superb, literally seconds from Kaminari-mon gate and 5 mins walk to Sensō-ji temple. We didn't have a clue which area to base ourselves in Tokyo but made the right decision with Asakusa. As others have mentioned, it's not on the JR Line but it's only 2 stops (or about 20 mins walk) from Ueno, which is. Plenty of eateries, 7Elevens etc around. It's a touristy area but has a real buzz from morning till night. We originally booked for 3 nights, with a view to moving to a cheaper hostel for the remainder of our time in Tokyo but the combination of comfort, location and price (Tokyo is so expensive that you soon realise that £60 per night for a mattress on the floor is actually a good deal). meant that we stayed here for 10 nights in total. The staff gave us a little gift each when we left! We would definitely recommend hotel Kaminarimon and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Great Location”
Location is great, just BESIDE the Kaminarimon gate which leads to the Senso-ji Asakusa Temple. If you're looking for a sort of ryokan type of accommodation without compromising the hotel feel, this the place. Lots of restaurant around the area but if you're into thrift shopping the street markets usually closes early. The hotel also has a curfew, so if you intend to go to nightclub, karaoke or a izakaya you have to inform the hotel ahead of time. Complimentary water is not bottled but I believe tap water in Japan is safe and clean. We like that the hotel staff is so helpful. They even gave us the timetable of the the train going to Narita Airport.

Hotel Kaminarimon”
The Hotel is just beside the Asakusa temple, at the entrance of the 參道, very good location for Asakusa, Ueno, Tokyo Skytree. Had a very good sleep in one person room for one night. Nice front desk serving and ok in English. Shared Bathroom is not big for 5 persons once.

Traditional, well-located and friendly”
We really enjoyed our stay and compared to other hotels in Tokyo, the value for money was pretty good. There are a few rules you need to be prepared for (door closes after midnight, fixed times for showers), but these are pretty usual for Japanese inns and hotels. We'd definitely stay here again!

Great location”
It was my first time to travel to Tokyo. We chose to stay there cuz we knew the location is good but I didn't know it is so great until I knew it was just next to the Gate. The staff is friendly and the room is clean. The decoration is Japan traditional style. My mom and sister had a good time there. ^^

Great!”
I was here with my mum, this hotel is just right next to the Karinarimon, could see it from my room. The room was superb, very comfortable, I must say it was the perfect ending for my Japan-Korea trip, slept like a log! Highly recommended!

Good hotel with convenient location near metro and many eatery and convenient stores. It will be plus point if there is also private bathroom options besides share bath. Will return for future visit to Tokyo.

In front of Sensoji temple”
The hotel is located just in front of Tokyo's famous Sensoji temple. Very close to train station (1 min), restaurants and lots of things to see around the hotel. We stayed in a tatami room which was a great experience.

Excellent location and staff”
Everything was extremely nice except... -room was too small for 2 adults with 2. kids. -common bathroom for women was too small only suitable for 2.at a times so to avoid missing to be next ,I had to stand and waiting for up to 20-30 minutes. -My room was next to women common bath.It was so noisy when had been used by a family with 2 little kids playing inside to bathroom at 23-24 pm.

Everything was fine except no individual restroom in the room.

traditional fare!”
the stay was brilliant but just a note of caution. the shared bathroom rooms will all use the bathroom on the first floor. this is a no partion-ed open bathroom that is akin to onsen showering in traditional japanese bath houses. so if you're shy, do get the rooms with an enclosed bathroom.
