A very nice onsen that very convenient for the airport but feel like its in another world”

Myoken Tanaka Kaikan was one of three excellent Onsen I stayed in while in Kirishima over Christmas and the new year 2017/8. What set this one apart was it's proximity to the airport while many Kirishima onsen will cost you $70+ in a taxi this one was only $30 though you were far enough into the hills that you'd never know it. They also had the most hot water too! Tt was literally flowing into the river outside and flowed into the private onsen tub in your bathroom all night long. You showered in it before you even got into the tub. They also have a very nice bookable bathhouse outside next to the river. Not quote open air in terms of seeing the river or the stars but on a warmer night than I was there I'm sure you could open it up. I had a Japanese room which was comfortable and warm even during a very cold snap where it was below freezing outside. A very comfortable stay in a charming onsen on the banks of a mountain river.

suitable for travellers by driving”

Its probably family owned traditional onsen hotel, staff seemed less than 6. They are friendly & working hard to communicate by body language as English is not understand by them. Onsen is a bit old as the hotel was built in 1968. Food is good as all other onsen hotels. This hotel is suitable for people travelling by cars, as its far away from JR station & no shutle is provided. Checkin @16:00 & checkout @10:00; so I need to walk along nearby until the checkin time. There is a nice mountain trek nearby. Overall if you are driving by car, then its convenient otherwise will need to book taxi.

Best option to stay nearby airport”

I was a grate onsen hotel. View from the hotel room is terrific overlooking the river and the mountain. Staff did not speak English, however they all try their best to help in different ways. One evening my husband wake up in the middle of the night (mid-night) with a hungry stomach and try to look for food, of course everything is closed at this time in such a small town. A staff her name 谷山美鈴 saw us and gave us two cup noodles, we tried to reward her, but she rejected and said it's a gift from her. My husband and I are so thankful.

한국인 입맛에 맞는 식사를 제공한다는 점만 빼면, 모든 점이 별로입니다. 대욕장 바닥과 욕조 주변에 페인트 가루, 돌 가루 같은 것이 많아서 발바닥 다칠 수 있고... 객실 다다미도 낡아서 보풀이 일어나 있고, 영어나 한국어로 응대 가능한 직원도 없고, 노천탕은 추가 요금을 내야 이용 가능하고, 체크인 할 때, 아고다에서 결제한 금액 외에 입욕세도 추가로 내야 합니다.

외관은 오래된 느낌이 나지만 내부는 리모델링을 했는지 깨끗합니다. 객실 안에서도 온천수가 나오는 욕조가 있어서 좋습니다. 온천수가 붉고 탁한데 물이 아주 좋은 것 같습니다. 가이세키 요리가 한국인 입맛에 맞아 매우 맛있습니다. 유후인 지역과 이부스키 등 여러 료칸을 가 보았는데 가장 맛있는 가이세키 중 하나였습니다. 마지막에는 따뜻한 코코아 한 잔과 기념 사진까지 찍어주는 등 친절합니다. 다만 렌트를 하지 않으면 접근성이 좋지 않습니다. 그리고 전세탕은 유료입니다. 또한 일본에 기록적 한파가 왔던 때라 그런지 난방을 해도 객실이 추웠습니다. 춥지 않은 평소의 날씨에는 괜찮을 것 같습니다.

좋은 식사가 장점.”

조식,석식이 좋았던 곳. 오래된 시설이라 관리가 필요한 장소가 많았다. 다다미방이 조금 습하게 느껴졌고 12월 하순에 다녀갔는데, 방이 추운 기분이었다.
