Good place for skiing and Onsen”
Brought my father and mother in law for skiing here. 5 hours from Tokyo, but excellent quality of snow and ski courses. Hotel Taiko is one of big hotels in Akakura Onsen, and have good hot spring with nice view. Dinner was also good which has been surved Japanese Kaiseki style dinner.

We enjoy a ryokan with a good bath and good food. This stay fit the bill. It’s off the beaten path for tourists but apparently popular with Japanese customers looking for a relaxing visit. Would stay again.

Handy location to the main restaurant area, easy walk to lifts and a doable walk to the Gondola. Staff are amazing, very friendly and always helpful. The outdoor onsen is a perfect way to end the day.

Great location. Highly recommended. Great service from front desk, room cleaners, good driver and service to train statin to hotel vice versa and the guys in ski equipment rentals are very friendly. Definitely we will go back again with more days.

Located well in the akakura area. Near loads of restaurants and bars. Onsen in the hotel is a godsend and a great way to relax after hitting the slopes. Would recommend it highly if in the area,

Offers pick up from train station to and back. Once all the taxis were booked out they offered another free ride to us. I stayed with a Japanese friend whom I met at boarding school for a ski trip. We went to onsen at least once a day during our stay. The hotel bar is also nice! Went 3 times, once on a Thursday night with a DJ on set, very good atmosphere! Didn’t get to utilise the game room due to time constraint but I would have went for the House of Dead arcade game which cannot be found anywhere in my country! There’s a table tennis table if anyone wants a cardio workout in. My friend spoke to the driver on our way out and he said 2024 snow season is already booked out! If you see a room available, act fast!

I believe this is the largest hotel in this area. Hotel offer free pick up to/ from train station. 5 mins walk to the main street. Big onsen, rooms are pretty large but old style.
