Neat”
Place is located near a port. If traveling to siargao, this is a good rest point. Bars are walking distances, many food choices. Staffs are accommodating and breakfast is wonderful. Rooms just average.

Value for money and great location”
Location is perfect especially if you plan to visit Siargao. They also have a free shuttle to take you there. Downside is parking is not free, you need to pay 350/night!!!!

Good location by the ferries. ”
We found it a bit expensive for the average hotel type room but the included breakfast was very good which was a bonus. The location was very convenient but it is right in the dock area so we were warned by locals to be careful walking at night particularly on dark streets, common sense really in any port town.

It's clean enough, it's friendly enough....but it ain't what I expected”
I should have done more research. From the pictures, it appears to be a beachfront hotel and a nice resort kind of place to relax and enjoy. While the hotel is okay, it's not located on the beach (it's across a major road from the ocean which cannot be accessed); it doesn't really have any place to relax and enjoy a beer......it's just an acceptable business hotel in a pretty tatty part of town. On the plus side, if you go out of the back of the hotel (the ocean side) there are a number of pretty decent restaurants close by. Please also note that there are no Taxi's in Surigao. Not one. Tricycles are the only way to get around if you're not driving.

Decent Service but watch for the price tag of extras”
I would rank this place somewhere in the middle between good and bad. The appartment was clean, spacious...we had the seaview and with it came the sound of the street at the waterfront :) Room Service was a bit unregular but ok in terms of performance. What striked me as a bit out of touch was the pricing of the Laundry Service and what the price would have been to get a privat minivan to Hayanggabon Port. I advise everybody to double check before paying or look for cheaper alternatives

Tavern is currently the best Hotel in Surigao City. I am a frequent guess of this Hotel whenever I'm in Surigao City for business trips and it is really my first choice. While the restaurant needs improvement now, the high quality of service remains the same. Two years ago, I happened to be staying at Tavern when a magnitude 6.7 earthquake struck. The owners/staff of the Hotel did a very good job in providing all necessary assistance including transferring us to the Tavern Annex as a safer venue. I will definitely recommend Tavern to anyone travelling to Surigao City.

Wonderful ”
Hotel Tavern Surigao has the best staff. They are so friendly and accomodating especially to my father who is having a hard time walking. The food in the dining room was good however, the add shows someone playing a piano but I guess the pianist is not longer. But I think that they should find another pianist. My father was really looking forward to hear the piano man. The hotel is very clean. The only negative about the stay is the internet connection. It was dropped a lot and not very clear. Other than that, I would give this hotel 5 stars...

Hotel Tavern Surigao, Philippines was a great hotel, conveniently located near the city central & right on the seaside. The view from my room was awesome & each morning I awoke with scenic vista. The service was fantastic including the free shuttle to the airport. I would highly recommend this hotel to my friends, business associates & relatives.

Charming hotel—2 minor imperfections”
The view from my seaside room was like a dream; don’t think I ever had a nicer view anywhere. The included buffet breakfast for two was great and staff unflappably friendly, even when I complained about the linen. Seemingly trivial but annoying: our first night there the linen kept slipping off the mattress. My guest and I found ourselves making contact with the bare mattress. Seems incongruent for such a classy hotel not to have fitted linen. They’re just using a flimsy sheet, too small to be properly tucked under. Was told, it’s bug season in Surigao from Sep to Dec—so expect a few black critters crawling around the room. But these caveats are minor and won’t prevent me from staying at Hotel Tavern again in the future.

Best choice in the City”
My family and I are patrons of this hotel and we always stay here every time we go back to Surigao. This three-star hotel offers the best in the city proper. Compared to its competitors, the place charges a few more hundred bucks, but then again, it has the best to offer. It's in the city proper, so shops and restaurants are very accessible. It is also near the ocean so you get to see a very scenic view every time you eat your complimentary breakfast buffet with varied Filipino-American food. It may not be near the airport but this will not be a problem since they have free airport transfer. Their driver welcomed us at the airport on-point and drove us to the hotel hassle-free. The good thing about this hotel is that it is very near the port so transfer from the main land to Siargao is problem-free (via Montenegro and small lantsa). The amenities and beds are clean, so I have nothing to complain. Their staff are also friendly and courteous.

Exceeded Expectations”
Contrary to previous reviews we found the in-room wi-fi was working satisfactorily. Staff directed us to the nearest/fastest boat across the blvd. to our next destination, Siargao Island. We were loaned an umbrella, breakfast was really good, not supurb, but they did cook omelets to order. Loved the ocean view room w/ balcony. Best hotel in Surigao City.

My Regular Stop”
I have been staying at this hotel since 2006, though the ownership, the facilities, building and ambience have changed much since then. Formerly it was a private family run business, and now different and more economy concious, judging by the gradual reduction of items provided to guests such as morning newspapers and face flannels. What keeps me bringing back to the same hotel, year on year. It is first the staff that are very friendly and polite, some of whom could still remember my first visit in 2006 and served us, and supported my wedding arrangements. Second it is the location beside the sea, the boats and the beautiful scenery which no other hotel in Surigao could beat given its facilities and a good bunch of staff. The breakfast buffet is really comprehensive, which no one could complain that they were not full afterwards and set up for the whole day. There is almost free, daily entertainment by a live band in the outer annex area, where one could purchase a good meal too and sip one's beer at leisure. The main dinning room/restaurant is nice and clean and inviting, and presents a comprehensive menu, though I would like to see it updated as it has not changed much over the last 10-years. The rooms and the environment are nice and clean, and my only critical eye goes to the CRs and bathrooms (public and private) that could do with some updating, as they are looking a bit worn out and tired. Highly recommended.
