Fantastic hotel. I booked this in a hurry on my travels through Vietnam and was expecting something quite different. I wasn't really after super luxury as I was looking for something unique and authentic an d I find posh hotels a little bit over the top for my tastes. However I made the best of it and enjoyed the luxury of a fantastic bed and huge shower. The area ...Fantastic hotel. I booked this in a hurry on my travels through Vietnam and was expecting something quite different. I wasn't really after super luxury as I was looking for something unique and authentic an d I find posh hotels a little bit over the top for my tastes. However I made the best of it and enjoyed the luxury of a fantastic bed and huge shower. The area is quiet at the moment as work is still on going on Tuan Chau Island and I dare say this will change going into 2016. If there is anyone looking at this that is on a lengthy travel then if you spent some days on Cat ba island doing the full on backpackers drinking and exploring thing then this could be a great place to stay afterwards as you could chill out for one night have a fantastic shower and a great sleep in a huge bed. It also right next to the ferry port to Cat Ba so nice and handy.

We stayed for 4 nights and enjoyed our time. There is nothing at all about this hotel that we could complain about. The staff and facilities are top. If you don't mind walking 10 - 20 minutes, there are good places to go, such as Sandy Bay (good beach and cafes) and the ferry to Cat Ba Island. We stayed in October and expected huge crowds and rubbish/litter (as we were told) but in fact there were very few people (except for those going on harbour boats) and the entire area was clean. The bathroom was 5/5 star, really nice. Most people only are in Halong Bay for a few hours or not even a full day, but we decided to have a relaxing long stay and we are glad that we did so.

the place is very clean, nice location, nice shower and had AC. However, they need to re enforce guests on not smoking in the room bc I had two rooms one room was good but one rm was filled with smoke and dirty fridge but when i told the front desk they did nothing. My other friend had to sleep in filty room with strong odor from cigarettes The next day my husband got...the place is very clean, nice location, nice shower and had AC. My other friend had to sleep in filty room with strong odor from cigarettes The next day my husband got very sick and I needed to extend our rm for 4hrs, They asked me to pay haft price which i didnt mind but their haft price is double of what i paid from Agoda. Yet not only that problem but they wanted me to pay both room since my niece had her luggage in our room. This was unecessary and they would not let me extend one room. It got very ridiculous and very frustated. They definetely need to improve on thier customer service. Not only they gave us this filty smoking room but also wanted us to pay the third person for her luggage to stay in my room

Stay on 19 Jan 15. At first was frustrated with being given a room with a view of the hill. So I went downstairs to talk to the receptionist,hoping they can changed it. They showed me my Agoda booking which did not specify for Bay view. So I just turned around and walked away. Minutes later, received a call from receptionist who mentioned a guest cancelled booking and ...Stay on 19 Jan 15. At first was frustrated with being given a room with a view of the hill. Minutes later, received a call from receptionist who mentioned a guest cancelled booking and thus they gave me a room with very good view of the bay. The laundry was excellent. Clothes came back on clean and smell nice. A pity they did not offer bike rental so that we can explore the island and nearby Halong City. Breakfast is not really good as the food is tasteless.

we travel a lot in south east asia and the vietlodge is one of the rare opportunities to enjoy a stay in a modern, but still truly authentic style. the vietlodge consists of an old wooden house, that was knocked down in northern vietnam and rebuilt on this island. the owner managed that task perfectly with an incredible love for the tiniest detail. everywhere it was ...we travel a lot in south east asia and the vietlodge is one of the rare opportunities to enjoy a stay in a modern, but still truly authentic style. the vietlodge consists of an old wooden house, that was knocked down in northern vietnam and rebuilt on this island. the owner managed that task perfectly with an incredible love for the tiniest detail. everywhere it was obvious, that the whole is more than the sum of its parts. the vietlodge is definitely a pearl between a lot of pseudo-modern architectural crap on this island. the rooms were cosy and comfortable with a great view over halong bay. we enjoyed utmost the quietness after hanoi's buzz. the food was just yummie → 10 of 10 points ! the service of the hotel owner was simply said outstanding.the staff was always helpful and very friendly. summarized it can be said, that the vietlodge is such an amazing value for money, that it deserves 10 points for every criteria. small minus: we regretted to leave. but we'll come back in a warmer season.

We were 3 peaople staying at this hotel for one night. When we booked a twin with one extra bed we didn't think that we would get a double bed as an extra - really nice. Location is a bit off, but it's secluded and we had no problem with noises. The manager opened the restaurant for us even though it was closed and asked if he could join us. We found this friendly, but they then tried to charge us for the beer that the manager drank. It seems that the staff is the weak link in an otherwise really good hotel. When the waiter took our order he either wrote it on his hand or tried to remember on his own. Cleaning lady stuck her head in our room without knocking and then left the door open, etc etc. All in all: Good hotel for the price.
