I was looking for a cheap hotel in Shinjuku area, and really didn't mind if the rooms were small, as long as the place was clean, decent, and had a great location. APA Hotel in Shinjuku-Gyonmae fits the bill to a T. It may have bigger rooms, I don't know, but for solo traveller like me, I was just looking for 1 single room.The room was very small, as expected. But amazingly compact in design and complete. This is Japanese efficiency of putting everything together in such a small space. I had a study table, a mini ref, a hospitality coffee and tea, and a giant flat screen TV (this was the only big thing)! The toilet was also amazingly compact, but well designed to fit everything you would need, including automatic bidet and nice hot shower. The toilet seemed like a pre-fabricated module plug into the room, and was spotlessly clean! As a single traveller, the small space is really just enough for one to move around, but who cares, I just need a place to sleep and shower. And I must say, the bed quality and duvet was superb--super soft, although the pillows were flat (Japanese style?). It also had an aircon so I switched it on so it doesn't get so stuffy. The reading lights and switches are also well located in such a small space. And must I say that the wifi was super fast! The location is also just less than 5 mins. walk to Shinjuku-Gyonmae subway (Maranouchi Line) which connects to Shinjuku main station (2 stops away) where you can connect to so many trains. Around the area is quite New Yorkish (quiet side) with Choco croque, Tully's Cafe, Freshness Burger, Coco Ichibanya, many Family Marts and 7-11's, and a big nice park behind. Very safe and clean neighbourhood. I didn't book for breakfast, as it was easy to eat out. It also has a free sauna and spa at the lower basement in case you want to use. I just took a look. The rooms are more than spacious especially in Japanese standard. The location is great which is 2 min walk from the train station. There are restaurants, food and convenient stores just steps away from the hotel. The breakfast is satisfactory and we have no complaint about it based on the price that you pay for your stay as this is not a five star hotel. So don't expect a five star breakfast when you only pay for a three star facility. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at the hotel and really appreciated the warm welcome and the assistance from the staff. I highly recommended this hotel and will come back for sure.

I was quite impressed as the concierge handled all of this for us quite efficiently. Keio is conveniently located near a lot of eating and entertainment spots, both high end and touristy/low end. There are a few malls that are about 10-15 mins walk from the hotel, where the Shinjuku station is. This is another area where you can find some really nice places to eat and shop. The busy area 2 streets away from Keio, with all the neon lights, has a lot of restaurants and drugstores where you can have your fill of drugstore make up and skin care products. A walk down this area can be confusing but also entertaining. All in all, Keio Plaza is a good hotel and is good value for money. I would rate this hotel 4 star, however.

I can honestly say this little gem is perfect for everything, location, pricing and cleanliness. After stalking the prices for weeks we finally found a really good price that included breakfast, normally we don't do breakfast but it was worth the extra 11 bucks a day and the breakfast was enormous and far far better then any skimpy European breakfast we had during out travels. The rooms were very clean and we stayed in a economy double on the 16th floor with a great view. They have a rooftop bar on the 13th floor landing that looked out over the city, they have daily happy hours and a decent menu as well at the rooftop bar. The front desk staff is more then helpful and will direct you and give you maps to anyplace you want to go. If you are a shopper , most big stores are by Shinjuku station which is about a 10 min walk. The area is very safe and you have tons of choices of food with in a couple min walk. I tried to cover all the bases here because I read a couple reviews that just seemed ridiculous and I want everyone to be upfront because thats how we book our hotels. Let me explain, if you have 4 to 5 Large suitcases and book a small double room for 3 or more people you get what you purchased its 15 SQ meters plus bath room they have larger that only cost 20 to 30 bucks more. The food in the restaurants was superior to or equal to most of the 4 to 5 stars we have stayed in. The area is a have a good time area , that is why you are staying in Shinjuku ! If you are looking for a hotel in Shinjuku and on a medium priced level then this far exceeds your perimeters.

This was my second stay at the hotel and would stay again if price is right.

After check in I made my way to my room and upon entering immediately knew I had been assigned a smoking room. Since I specifically requested non-smoking, I turned and headed back down to the reception desk. As it turns out, the staff who checked me in was training and missed the non-smoking request on my Agoda reservation. A new room was assigned without hesitation and with apologies. My room was booked and classified as a semi-double. Though small, the room provided plenty of space for two adults to live comfortably for four nights. The views out onto the city were spectacular, the room very clean and quiet, aside from the occasional train leaving Shinjuku station, and all of the equipment (television, alarm clock, lights, AC, bathroom, etc.) in working order. Room service kept everything top-notch throughout my stay. With two restaurants and a bar, laundry service, fee-for-service internet, and a small shop, the hotel really provided for any needed necessities. (As a brief side note, while I was there I noted an offer where one could receive a 500 Yen credit in the shops and restaurants if you skipped having room service clean the room. I didn't partake but an interesting option, I think.)

Toilet is on raised floor, thus those stand at 6 feet height might have hit the ceiling. Everything is excellent but if you travel with young kids, better get 2 rooms or much bigger room. Walking distance to Shinjuku Station is about 15 minutes. It is quite far. Poor ventilation and the room can get very warm (not sure if it is intentional) even in winter. Please ask the reception to open the window in your room for fresh air, only they can do it. Once the window is open, no more complains !

Stayed here for 8 days and we were comfortable even though we booked the Sakura Rooms. Most complete set of toiletries in a hotel. (moisturizers, facial wash, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, shaver, grooming kit, dental kit, too many to mention!) I will definitely stay here again!

The location is good, but for someone who had to walk to and from Shinjuku Station with snowboard and luggage, next time i will look for something a little closer. The best Shinjuku hotel i have stayed in the last few years that was around the same price per night is the Gracery, but these days it is much more expensive than when I stayed shortly after it opened, so when you consider this was around JPY15000 per night for a stay in Feb, it is actually quite cheap for a Shinjuku hotel of this standard.

JR Shinjuku Station is quite close and the San-chome train station is a minute walk away. My sister who has been to Japan many times and is well traveled also loved the location of the hotel. This is the perfect hotel if you want to explore shinjuku area and be close to JR Shinjuku Station! Would definitely recommend this hotel!

Hotel Sunroute Higashi Shinjuku hotel staff are very nice and polite with customers. They are very service-minded. The hotel room charge per night is reasonable , it is not so expensive. The best thing is that this hotel is very very near Tokyo Metro Subway , you can walk only 3 minutes so you will reach subway. I'm very enjoy stayed at Hyatt, the staff member are friendly and always give me quick response. The concierge staff are very helpfull to guide me and give me direction to the place I want to visit and they even call the shop I want to visit to make sure if they open on that day because on first January some off shop and mall are closed for holiday. When I got to the hotel the staff barely spoke English but they did their best to accomodate and communicate which to me is the only thing that matters. Room was tiny but clean. My mate and I stayed here for nearly 2 weeks. The location felt a bit odd at first being down a quiet back street, but in the end we enjoyed that. Quiet, with hardly any traffic noise. Everything you need is close by. Shinjuku station is about a 10min walk up the road, as well as department stores, restaurants, and huge 5 story arcades. The staff were very friendly, a...My mate and I stayed here for nearly 2 weeks. The location felt a bit odd at first being down a quiet back street, but in the end we enjoyed that. Quiet, with hardly any traffic noise. Everything you need is close by. Shinjuku station is about a 10min walk up the road, as well as department stores, restaurants, and huge 5 story arcades. The staff were very friendly, and were happy to help with any questions we had, like where to find a particular type of restaurant. (the lovely short haired lady has very good English). The free refreshments in the lobby was a nice touch (max. 3 glasses per day), and certainly appreciated after walking back in 35 degree heat. The rooms have good air con too, so that was a relief. We had no problem getting wi-fi in our room, which I've heard other people have. We were on the 5th floor. Otherwise, you can get wi-fi in the lobby, or there is a free desktop computer you can use. They also offer a laundry service. For 1000 yen they give you a bag which you fill, then they wash, dry and fold your stuff, and get it back to you same day. We didn't have the time or patience to go to a dry cleaner, so this was a god send. Overall, both my mate and I would definitely recommend and stay here again. It may not be as close to the station like some other hotels in the area, but beyond that, it's still good value for money for what they provide and what you are near. P.S. I recommend the small restaurant around the corner on the main road between the Family Mart and the 100yen store. Excellent food for CHEAP.

The Shinjuku train station is a 15 minute walk as well as all the major shops. It's nestled between some central tourist points. The room itself was clean. Washrooms come with tooth brush, hair ties, q-tips, ...The rooms are super tiny - but that's expected for the budgeted price and for Tokyo. Water temperature was also on point. The check in staff were adequate and nice. There's a restaurant downstairs associated with the hotel that sells soups and breakfasts so you don't have to go far for food. But there are also tons of restaurants just outside the hotel. The only little annoyance is that there's 3 APA hotels in that intersection and 2 of it has the exact same name. But they are just across the street from each other - so if you're in the wrong one they will let you know. But they should really differentiate the name.

First of all, you need to know the room is indeed small (16 sqm) which is the same for all hotels in Tokyo for this price. There's mini bath tub, free evian drinking water, toiler with remote controlled bidet, very tidy and clean room, free mila schon shampoo, conditioner and body was gel on top of the provided shampoo, rinse and body wash, free toothbrush, shave, facial wash, clothes deodorant, bubble was ball, hair brush, free ice at 8th floor machine, free green tea, etc. Just put the house keeping sign outside the door and the room will be clean as new and everything used will be replenish except the mila schon stuffs unless the see nth left then they will replenish. The staffs can speak moderate english and one male staff can speak very well chinese. You can buy the 500 yen (worth 600 yen) voucher from the hotel to be used at the Tully's coffee downstairs. The Tully's Coffee pumpkin latte is a must try! Everything is nice! Next to it is also the Lawson store sth like 7-Eleven. The hotel will recommend cheap and good food to you and be very honest about all the tourist spots if you ask them. Hospital, restaurants, shopping complex, drug store and supermarket is just within 3-10 mins walking distance. There's the Don Quixote supermarket that sells almost anything at cheap price near the Korean Town that occasionally will have debuting Korean Star promoting themselves offering free signatures and photographs. The staffs are helpful and nice to offer any assistance you ask. They even have a weight scale for your luggage to make sure you don't go overweight for your flight! Awesome! The hotel is just next to higashi-shinjuku subway station. It is quite far from the red light district area. This area is for shopping, not for sightseeing.

I loved my hotel room. I was on the 14th floor (top floor) on a corner room so it was very quiet. The curtains blocked out the bright sunlight. The room was very clean. The staff spoke English and very friendly and helpful. The location was excellent because it was only a 2 minute walk to the nearest subway station. The big shopping areas are only one stop from the nearest subway station. All the major tourist attractions can be accessed by subway from the nearest subway station. I would book this hotel again if I visit Tokyo again. I highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel is situated 200 metres from the subway stop which is 2 stops from Shinjuku main station, and tokyos subways are pretty good, make sure to download the Tokyo metro app. There is a 7/11 shop about 50 metres away and several restaurants. We found the wifi in our room to be decent despite reading some reviews stating they could only get it in the lobby, however we were situated on the 2nd floor. The hotel is nice and quiet, the only negative I have was that the hotel did have a slight cigarette smell, however they do provide air freshener. Overall we were very satisfied and enjoyed our stay.
