All that place is very modern and quiet, in nice neighbourhood, 15 minutes walk from the city centre (Bullring). Plenty of shops and cafes nearby. Vending machine in the lobby offers snacks and hot/cold drinks for a pound. The free Wifi is super fast and always works. The only small minus is that after long hot shower whole room gets really steamy. Also there is no place to put your things or bags but that is not really a big problem. It will definitely be my first choice for my next stay in Birmingham really soon!

I stayed in this hotel before I had read any of the reviews and was surprised at how poorly it had been reviewed by some others. This hotel is a beautiful old building with Gargoyles adorning the outside, but it is very old, my room was modern to an ok standard and clean, there is some refurbishment going on in this hotel but it will take some millions to get it complete but they are doing it up, I did overhear some other guests complaining about their rooms so clearly not all were done yet so be ready.. my room was a perfect example of the photos shown on Agoda and clean, location wise it was perfect and there are some great local bars that do good food, the hotel is located in the poorer end of town and initially I was very wary walking the streets but I found the locals friendly and polite, this end of town has turned into bit of a student mecca with a college and backpackers near by, so it has a young but laid back vibe but for its location for me was perfect for the price and only a 5 minute drive into the centre of town.I understand some of the gripes I have read but this hotel caters for the wedding parties so it can get a bit noisy,I had someone trying to get me up at 6am because he had the wrong room!! but all in all a very nice stay and would go back, one thing I would add is that I wouldn't leave an expensive car on the street and be careful of valuables being left on seats as I saw broken glass on the floor where a window had been put through in the past,but my car was fine (its older)and so were the other guests, I never saw any trouble and wouldn't have an issue staying here again.

No Parking of hotel so had to park in high gate parking which cost extra & was a rip off. Was charged £12 for one night when the hotel stamped my ticket . The hotel, facilities, location are all great. It's a good 4* hotel, has some dated decor but you don't mind it as it fits with the hotel well. When we saw this we didn't really mind, we phoned front desk about having this sorted, they informed us it will be done. On our way out to spend the day outside the hotel, we just gently reminded front desk again and we were reassured it would be sorted. We returned back to the hotel approximately 8 hours later, there was no change. We asked front desk again to have this sorted, which for is tea addicts was now becoming a problem!, again this time the front desk apologised and said it will be sorted, we went out for an evening meal. When we returned again- no change. When we put it a bit firmly to front desk this time, the problem was sorted in 2 minutes. It was a real let down as he enjoyed our stay at the hotel but having to tell staff 4/5 times to do a simple task was a big disappointment. I would recommend staying here, it's probably the best hotel in Birmingham, however, a bit of a let down by certain individual staff. There is room for parking for a charge of £9.30 for 24 hours, but it is small, there is a 24 hour pay and display literally 30 second walk from the hotel that charges £6 for 24 hours.

This is a good hotel. Distance from New Street station is fantastic but its a shame the surrounding area is so grubby and run down. The welcome and checking-in was warm and professional. The room was very good, a little cold though. No matter what I tried to do with the thermostat, nothing seemed to change this. I did mention it when leaving the hotel. I should have said it during my stay to be honest. One of the main reasons for booking this hotel, apart from location, was its gym. I was hoping it wold be a good one and one I would expect to be in a 4 star hotel. But it was awful and useless. 6 dumb bells, 2 running machines, 1 rowing machine. There were 4 people working out in the room and that was over crowded. If someone was using the dumb bells, you had no chance unless you wanted to be hit in the face by one. It was the worst gym I have ever seen in a 4 star hotel. I did speak to reception about this and they said it was going to be refurbished, no date was given. This was the only down side to it and dont want it to over shadow what is mainly a good hotel

This leads to my perhaps only point of criticism, namely I wasn't able to lower the temperature in the room to below something like 23-25 degrees, although I set the AC to 16 degrees. (Windows can't be opened.) A receptionist told me that it may have been due to the location under the roof, and the sun operating. Well, maybe; most of the time it was sunny indeed. I didn't use the spa facilities nor the breakfast (but I did use the Starbucks in the lobby and was satisfied). The location was perfect to me for two reasons: it's very close to the city centre, and to the New Street train station, which is 9 minutes of a train ride away from the Airport station, and 7 minutes from the University station (my conference was at the Edgbaston campus). Of great value for a conference-goer was the electric iron and the complimentary tea/coffee in the room. The hotel also had socket adapters that I could borrow (I forgot mine from the Continent), and separate USB charger sockets (perfect idea). I missed some shelf space a bit, but was able to use my suitcase as an ersatz set of shelves... Needed to re-log to the wi-fi all too often (that was a bit irritating). A supermarket is a few steps away, and there is a variety of restaurants to choose from, in the vicinity. The picturesque canal district is a few minutes away. All the staff were absolutely polite and helpful.

The hotel was very bright, clean and cheerful. The staff were all smartly dressed, friendly and efficient in their work. The restaurant, although we didn't eat there, looked clean and well presented. The bar was also very clean. The room was a lovely size, well decorated and very clean. Our stay was very nice and I would recomend the Crown Plaza to everyone.

Surrounded by restaurants and eating places which served a wide variety of food including Chinese, Thai and Indian cuisines. Lovely hotel right in the centre of Birmingham. Rooms were spacious and clean. Beautifully decorated. On our first night we were on the third floor and were woken at 7am by continual footsteps above. Turned out there were offices above us . We were then moved to floor 5 . We got a good deal through Agoda and would definitely stay here again if we got similar.

This was one of the best hotels I have stayed in, it was extremely clean, the bedrooms were generously sized and the bathrooms were immaculate. The room was cleaned each morning with fresh towels and bedding, and the breakfasts were fantastic. All in all a great city break, brilliantly positioned in the centre of Brindley Place, meaning the city centre was walkable. ...This was one of the best hotels I have stayed in, it was extremely clean, the bedrooms were generously sized and the bathrooms were immaculate. All in all a great city break, brilliantly positioned in the centre of Brindley Place, meaning the city centre was walkable. No noise from Broad Street and centred in the modern district besides the best restaurants and bars in Birmingham. You do have to pay for parking additionally though. However, I shall definitely be staying in these hotels around the country again.

I booked and paid in full for a one night stay to attend my Daughter's graduation. On my way to Birmingham I received a phone call to say that the hotel through a "technical issue" was overbooked and they were moving me to an alternative outside the centre. To cut a long story straight through Agoda I found another room at an alternative hotel just down the road. So when the receptionist at the AC said there was no rooms available in Birmingham he obviously hadn't tried looking very hard.

The rooms we a good size, appeared to have been recently refurbished with modern bathrooms and flat screen televisions. this is a budget hotel do don't expect 5* ,excellent value for money,on site parking for £5 night through to 5.30 pm next day,location 2 minutes walk 02 acadamy 7 minute walk China town, ,20 minute walk broad st,15 minutes German markets train station ,I personal ly like to walk so excellent location..we had the twin room spacious with on suite bathroom, £33 for a nigh...this is a budget hotel do don't expect 5* ,excellent value for money,on site parking for £5 night through to 5.30 pm next day,location 2 minutes walk 02 acadamy 7 minute walk China town, ,20 minute walk broad st,15 minutes German markets train station ,I personal ly like to walk so excellent location..we had the twin room spacious with on suite bathroom, £33 for a night good value ideal if you smoke because you got direct assesse to outside. Very good hotel with excellent location( but at first was difficult to find it). In the middle of city center! Very warm, quit, comfortable, with city view.. Use the kitchen in the room every day ( because we don't eat hot-dogs and hamburgers which we find in all bars) and the dishwasher was very useful! Supermarket with food is only any steps from hotel.
