"I have stayed in the hotel for about 1 week. it is definately not the best area to stay in if you are a tourist, you should stay in city area.
the hotel staff are friendly and helpful at the front desk, the rooms are clean and tidy. the breakfast has a lot of variety, however, i never had the chance to try it properly.
morning taxi cues tend to be a bit long, but usually within 10 mins wait.
there is a food court at the mall next to it, which is opened till 9 30 at night, so room service is not your only option if you ever worked till late.
however except for the mall, there is nothing else within walking distance.
As for "zheng wang miao" it is about 5 mins taxi ride from the hotel, it is a wonder street with lots of taiwan local food.

"This hotel is cheap (even for a "superior double") and just a short walk from the train station. We arrived early and we not allowed to check in until 5 pm but the nice staff allowed us to leave our bags and let us have free coffee, which is available 24 hours in the lobby. When I say the staff were nice I mean they were totally ridiculously nice and helpful and friendly! They also provided us with a map and walking directions.
The room décor is pretty hilarious: ours had a satin bed spread and a bizarre school bus theme mural. And the room came with freebies like--two condoms! This is totally a love motel, which should be pretty obvious because they offer 3 hour rest breaks (explaining the late check in time). But don't let that stop you, since the room itself is fine, with a decent bed and a hot shower. The towels weren't the newest and there were a few tumbleweeds of hair that on the floor that didn't come from our heads, but it wasn't too skanky all things considered. Anyway, they have free WiFi and breakfast was outstanding---there were so many options! Breakfast was like going to a buffet restaurant, so tasty and nutritious with lots of savory choices. Really quite a great value for the low price and convenient location. And hey, maybe you could get into the love motel mood, wink wink. "

"The staff of this hotel is AMAZING ! The best service I've experienced so far. The lobby staff always greet you with a smile. They anticipate your needs the minute you step into the lobby. There is this particular guy who is just superb. When it rained, and by the time I stepped out of the lobby elevator, he would rush out to the lobby front door to hand me an umbrella. When I return to the hotel, he would ensure to get the elevator. Their service seemed very Japanese style with great courtesy. I LOVE Lakeshore staff. I'm not sure how the manager trained the staff, but they are just so attentive to guest needs. I don't see such service even in W hotel or some of the Japanese hotels. Great job, Lakeshore !!"

"We have stayed few hotels in Hsinchu and Sol sits at top of my list in terms of location, room size and value for money. Breakfast was pretty average but again it is included in the price, even for the cheapest room (no window) which is great value for money if you are not too fussed about window. We stayed at Delux with a window which is pretty generous in sizes. Room services need some improvements though as every time you ask for something it takes quite some time (1-2 hour). Ambassador is much better in terms of room service however have to point it out Ambassador is a 5 star hotel so it is not apples with apples. Our advise is that if Ambassador is on special (110 AUD ish), go for Ambassador. If value for money and location are important, Sol will not disappoint."

"We were given a promotion and that made the hotel one of the best accommodation we stayed in terms of value for money. It was exceptionally clean and the rooms were non carpet, extremely hygienic and modern-looking. The decor was nice and the beds truly comfortable. We were pleasantly surprised by the indoor suana in the large bathroom which we enjoyed and appreciated tremendously. Dinner was fantastic and included western food in generous portions amidst soothing classical music. We were given discounts at the restaurant as well as welcome fruits and drinks. Breakfast was great as well. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and certainly the hotel I would stay again the next time Im in Hsinchu.

"It was a last minute decision to come to Hsinzhu as my son wanted to meet up with his Taiwan friends. We were not sure which hotel to book as we needed a hotel not too far from the train station as we need to drag our luggage all the way from train station to the hotel. We are glad that we choose this hotel as it is pretty near the train station and easy to locate. We are happy that we chose it and have enjoyed our stay here :)"

"The hotel staff were all very accomodating and I can tell that they are really trying to help with my inquiries and
requests . Special shout out to the guy by the door who is always asking how he could help, one of the front desk personnel who went out of her way to assist on getting our party of 7 to big city mall, and one of the breakfast staff who had limited English but was so helpful that we understood each other with my very very limited Chinese."

"We enjoyed the hotel, and especially its central location in Hsinchu. The hotel is pretty nice, and our room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast, included with our stay, was really great. Staff were very friendly overall. We did have one problem, which caused us a lot of annoyance: We were staying two nights, but after the first night, the staff forced us to change rooms. I'd previously checked with staff when we originally checked in, to make sure we had our room reserved for two nights, and they had assured us that we did. Staff apologized, but didn't help us, and we had to waste time packing up and moving to a different floor/room. "

"This hotel is located right in the heart of downtown Hsinchu. This means that it is a short walking distance to the main transportation hubs such as Taiwan Rail and buses, and the traditional downtown shopping district, and other famous local attractions which is particularly beneficial for tourists.
While the facilities and suites are visibly dated, this tiny hotel which is located in an alley, has been especially well kept and is very clean. Each room even has a tiny but usable bathtub, All the usual amenities are provided, as is a complementary breakfast that has a surprising variety, although with local offerings only. Complementary toast and simple refreshments are also provided in the lobby throughout the day. An added bonus was the free elevator-style parking.
