I was looking for a cheap hotel in Shinjuku area, and really didn't mind if the rooms were small, as long as the place was clean, decent, and had a great location. APA Hotel in Shinjuku-Gyonmae fits the bill to a T. It may have bigger rooms, I don't know, but for solo traveller like me, I was just looking for 1 single room.The room was very small, as expected. But amazingly compact in design and complete. This is Japanese efficiency of putting everything together in such a small space. I had a study table, a mini ref, a hospitality coffee and tea, and a giant flat screen TV (this was the only big thing)! The toilet was also amazingly compact, but well designed to fit everything you would need, including automatic bidet and nice hot shower. The toilet seemed like a pre-fabricated module plug into the room, and was spotlessly clean! As a single traveller, the small space is really just enough for one to move around, but who cares, I just need a place to sleep and shower. And I must say, the bed quality and duvet was superb--super soft, although the pillows were flat (Japanese style?). It also had an aircon so I switched it on so it doesn't get so stuffy. The reading lights and switches are also well located in such a small space. And must I say that the wifi was super fast! The location is also just less than 5 mins. walk to Shinjuku-Gyonmae subway (Maranouchi Line) which connects to Shinjuku main station (2 stops away) where you can connect to so many trains. Around the area is quite New Yorkish (quiet side) with Choco croque, Tully's Cafe, Freshness Burger, Coco Ichibanya, many Family Marts and 7-11's, and a big nice park behind. Very safe and clean neighbourhood. I didn't book for breakfast, as it was easy to eat out. It also has a free sauna and spa at the lower basement in case you want to use. I just took a look. The rooms are more than spacious especially in Japanese standard. The location is great which is 2 min walk from the train station. There are restaurants, food and convenient stores just steps away from the hotel. The breakfast is satisfactory and we have no complaint about it based on the price that you pay for your stay as this is not a five star hotel. So don't expect a five star breakfast when you only pay for a three star facility. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at the hotel and really appreciated the warm welcome and the assistance from the staff. I highly recommended this hotel and will come back for sure.

The bed in particular was very comfortable. The public bath was also very clean and comfortable, and a very relaxing place to end each day. I am not sure I would rate the hotel as 4-stars however I have no major criticism. If the rooms were more spacious it may well deserve that rating. However, as they are restricted for space yet also chosen to squeeze-in a lot of rooms it somewhat reduces the feeling of ease and comfort. Overall however, it is a very good hotel and good value for money.

Before I only booked for staying at this hotel two days. After stayed this hotel two days, I really like it and decided to stay at this hotel for two more nights. I love this hotel so much, so I strongly recommend to and travelers who come to Tokyo to stay.

The best part of the hotel is the room ammenities, new clean rooms and superb location. There is a convenience store right across the hotel and many 24 hr fast food restaurants if you get hungry at night.

Can sleep better when the air is not as dry esp during winter. End state verdict. Booked by mistake. But did not regret it at all. Best mistake ever.

The gym was clean as very well stocked for a hotel gym I take lifting quite seriously and would have preferred a power rack to a smith but I can understand the decision. The bed and room were fantastic. Well styled and great materials. High quality linens made it a wonderful place to be. The only issue I have is that for £200 a night I cannot understand why I had to pay extra for room internet access. I have stayed in hostels that provide this for free and I have found it is more normal to not receive this in business hotels. Free access in the lobby and the business centre is lovely but it's just not the same experience as being able to have a skype in your room. I think £10 for this service is too much and should be free. Like I say its the little things.

Hotel Sunroute Higashi Shinjuku hotel staff are very nice and polite with customers. They are very service-minded. The hotel room charge per night is reasonable , it is not so expensive. The best thing is that this hotel is very very near Tokyo Metro Subway , you can walk only 3 minutes so you will reach subway. The concierge staff are very helpfull to guide me and give me direction to the place I want to visit and they even call the shop I want to visit to make sure if they open on that day because on first January some off shop and mall are closed for holiday. Fellow Americans would think they are in a closet but the size is perfectly fine. The layout however leaves much to be desired. Technically we paid for a triple but our room definitely felt more like a double room with an added bed for the third person. That was fine. The arrangement however left very few navigating options. For example, a negative was the person on the single bed could not access the lighting controls on the other side of the double bed. The cleanliness of the room was outstanding. The bathroom was huge with a shower and a tub. The toilet was a fair size. The sink was fine. Towels are provided though it was tough to say for certain whether they were changed daily but it appears that they were. Robes, and other toiletries are provided as well. No need to bring your own shampoo, body soap, etc. The toiletries are better than most 3 star hotels in America. The one major downside here was the amount of smoking in and around the hotel. The lobby entrance has a smoking area and there were plenty of people smoking. The hallways were full of a smoke smell but no one clearly smoking. The elevator rot of smoking smell. This is my 2nd time at this property, I chose it for it's great location and familiarity of the area so I could hit the ground running. Hotel is a basic business hotel but delivers as promised. Rooms are small, but that's all well described and use the space in the best manner possible. Looking for a quiet, clean, conveinant place to rest your head then this is perfect. It's close enough to walk to everything in Shinjuku but just far enough away to be quieter. A few blocks from a tokyo subway stop as well. My only complaint is the same others have posted in that they have some really thin pillows. I knew this going in so used my travel pillow to supplement. I should have asked for extras from the desk and when I stay her again I will make sure to do that.

There's mini bath tub, free evian drinking water, toiler with remote controlled bidet, very tidy and clean room, free mila schon shampoo, conditioner and body was gel on top of the provided shampoo, rinse and body wash, free toothbrush, shave, facial wash, clothes deodorant, bubble was ball, hair brush, free ice at 8th floor machine, free green tea, etc. Just put the house keeping sign outside the door and the room will be clean as new and everything used will be replenish except the mila schon stuffs unless the see nth left then they will replenish. The staffs can speak moderate english and one male staff can speak very well chinese. You can buy the 500 yen (worth 600 yen) voucher from the hotel to be used at the Tully's coffee downstairs. The Tully's Coffee pumpkin latte is a must try! Everything is nice! Next to it is also the Lawson store sth like 7-Eleven. The hotel will recommend cheap and good food to you and be very honest about all the tourist spots if you ask them. Hospital, restaurants, shopping complex, drug store and supermarket is just within 3-10 mins walking distance. There's the Don Quixote supermarket that sells almost anything at cheap price near the Korean Town that occasionally will have debuting Korean Star promoting themselves offering free signatures and photographs. The staffs are helpful and nice to offer any assistance you ask. They even have a weight scale for your luggage to make sure you don't go overweight for your flight! Awesome! The hotel is just next to higashi-shinjuku subway station. It is quite far from the red light district area. This area is for shopping, not for sightseeing.

I loved my hotel room. I was on the 14th floor (top floor) on a corner room so it was very quiet. The curtains blocked out the bright sunlight. The room was very clean. The staff spoke English and very friendly and helpful. The location was excellent because it was only a 2 minute walk to the nearest subway station. The big shopping areas are only one stop from the nearest subway station. All the major tourist attractions can be accessed by subway from the nearest subway station. I would book this hotel again if I visit Tokyo again. I highly recommend this hotel.
